Right Now was just a teaser that they threw out to cleanse the palate.

The lyrics & vocal arrangement scream Emeli Sande. I kinda love this tbh.

Calm Down people. This is the "Urban single". Artist release multi-format singles all the time. Anyway, I love this. But we will see if Urban plays it.

Calm Down people. This is the "Urban single". Artist release multi-format singles all the time. Then what is "Therapy"? The Pop single?

Not really sure what to say here. Mary sounds great and it's refreshing to hear her experimenting, but this song comes with the boredom one would expect from, well, an Emeli Sande song. It's too adult for Rhythmic radio, too pop for Urban radio, and too bluesy for Pop... where exactly will this fit in?

I mean I agree; Mary's at a point where she can do whatever she wants (hell, any artist should be able to do whatever they want). I'm against pigeonholing music in general, but the thing is this album has been built up by the label as her most commercially viable album in years. You can't have it both ways. You can't shoot for commercial mass appeal without a mass audience. Or in other words, the song is just a bit boring.

I get what you mean, but I honestly don't expect much from the label especially with the switching singles and they want to drop this album in December. There should have been a track at radio, weeks back, imo. Right now (no pun intended), the label should have tacked a rapper on "Right Now" and send that out everywhere.

The London sessions thing was a good idea, but, honestly, I'm not impressed with anything I've heard so far. This sounds like a passable album track from her.

I like this a lot, but it's not lead single material at all.

I think this project will result in either a big critical success and moderate sales for Mary, or a bomb with her announcing that she's "returning to her hip hop soul" roots, working with American producers etc. for the next album.

Love this!!!
This doesn't sound like a pop song at all. If anything it sounds like an Urban AC hit from a "neosoul" random. I thought of Chrisette Michele when I first heard this.
I wonder what the "story" behind this is. It sounds a woman dealing with being sexually violated....or a woman not getting over being cheated on. Either way, well-written song, with a solid, emotional delivery from the queen.

Yeah! I was thinking it reminds me of one of the Mary album rejects that made it on No More Drama.

I like the lyrics and I get the sense the song might be personal for her, but the melody is unbelievably boring (I mean, isn't the whole based on the two same chords? ) and that ruins it for me. Nice enough album track though.

She has a clear channel deal. "Whole Damn Year" will be featured tomorrow at the top of the hour/every hour on both Urban and UAC.

The CC stations on the Urban and UAC panels aren't many.
So this is the single?

The CC stations on the Urban and UAC panels aren't many. So this is the single? But they are in huge markets (aka power105 and WGCI(Chicago)

After hearing this a few more times today, it's growing on me. She gives a really sincere vocal.
