I just finished listening to this album this morning, and it's (unsurprisingly) fantastic.
It's different enough to stand out from "Same Trailer Different Park," but it's also uniquely 'Kacey,' and shows the same wit, growth, and quality I would expect from her.
This is a solid album from top to bottom, and I see tons of critical love and awards nominations for Kacey.
It's fabulous to see a female Country artist take an honest (and actually Country), approach, and have it pay off so wonderfully.
This album is yet another indication Kacey cares about quality over radio hits, and thank God there is somebody like her in this genre right now.
On first listen, my favorites were This Town, Pageant Material, Somebody To Love & Good Ole' Boys Club, but I'm sure I'll have more to add as the album sinks in.
"Late To The Party" was so unexpected, simply because it wasn't what I was expecting at all; I love songs that throw you for a loop like that.
I think my favorite track right now is "Somebody To Love," though.
It hits my lyrical sweet spot, and Kacey sounds stellar.
This might be the best Country album I've heard in the past five years.
This is what Country music is.

Can we just shine the limelight on "Somebody to Love" and "Fine" for a split second? What amazing songs, especially the latter. The chorus in "Fine" is absolutely mesmerizing, captivating, emotionally-drawn, etc. And the "pots and kettles" line in "Somebody to Love" is pure genius.
This woman has SUCH a talent for writing. Unparalleled by mostly everyone else in this industry, easily.

For the past little while, they've been uploading behind-the-scenes videos for songs from this album on Kacey's Vevo account. So far, we've got videos for Biscuits, Family is Family, Dime Store Cowgirl, Somebody to Love, Pageant Material, This Town, Fine and Cup of Tea. More to come in the next few days, I'm sure. They're great watches. She also sang Follow Your Arrow today as an impromptu encore at the recording of her NPR Tiny Desk Concert, in honor of today's marriage equality ruling.

Ok so I listened to this yesterday and it's incredible. Lyrical heaven, and the melodies are pretty great too. Why can't the rest of mainstream country hold themselves to this standard?

Not her wrecking me emotionally with Somebody to Love, and then exposing my flaws with Miserable!

I think Somebody to Love is so important right now. I shared it on FB and hope some people get the right message out of it.

Saw Her in Chicago last night. She was phenomenal musically, her band is amazing. But what impressed me was how much her stage presence has improved. She's a bonfire star now.
There were a TON of young girls there who knew every single word, too, which I didn't really expect to see.

I am still loving this album. The entire album is great. I never listen to music for lyrics, I am much more in it for the melodies and vocals but you can't help but listen to what she is saying. The songs hit me so hard and this album is perfect for what's going on in the world right now and I really connect to it. I haven't connected to an album like this since Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway. I just love it.

I have posted about this album briefly in the country listening party section. Now that I've gotten a chance to listen a few times through, I have to say that I have not heard an album this solid in a very long time. I will admit that I do not own Same Trailer Different Park, but loved the radio singles. I loved "Biscuits" and decided I had to buy it. I purchased the pink vinyl after hearing the traditional leaning lead single. With all of that said, I really was not expecting the album to be this good. While there was VERY little radio airplay for "Biscuits" I hope that Mercury will do with Kacey what Warner Bros. has done with Ashley Monroe. In that, both Kacey and Ashley have been lacking radio airplay, but have received critical praise left and right from both fans and critics. It looks like Warner (and this has been brought up by others too) will hang onto Ashley even if she does not receive much attention from radio and remains a success in the eyes of fans and industry folks. I hope that Mercury attempts to release a few more singles from Pageant Material for Kacey. Radio needs to get back to this kind of realness and simplicity in songs. "Dime Store Cowgirl," "Pageant Material," and "Late To The Party" are my top three favorites off the new record. This has to take home a Grammy in 2016. End of story.

^ Radio may not be on Kacey's side, but she does very well with sales considering. I don't think there's any chance her label would drop her due to her lack of radio success. She's sold over 83k copies of Pageant Material in just two weeks, and should cross 100k in its third week on the charts. I think the album will go at least gold when all is said and done, like Same Trailer, Different Park did.

I saw her live on Saturday night here on Long Island and she was great! There were some times that I questioned whether she was lip-syncing or not, but I don't think she was lol. I was a little upset that "Keep It to Yourself" was not on her set list thought!

Pageant Material is nominated for Album of the Year at the CMA Awards. In addition, Kacey is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year for "Biscuits".

I love "Are You Sure", but I'm wondering why that video was filmed instead of doing a video for her current single ("Dime Store Cowgirl").

Chris Stapleton nabbed the Country spot in the AOTY, which I was praying she would get. He had all the hype and momentum going in, plus Traveller was fantastic. Hoping she can pull a win out of her hat!
Just got my tickets to see her in Milwaukee (since there's no Chicago date, goddamnit).

"10.28.16 - Kacey Musgraves - A Very Kacey Christmas - Mercury Nashville"
I like the title, it's very "Kacey" XD I know she only has a couple of dates booked in December, but I'm hoping they will at least try to promote the new Christmas album on tv appearances.
On a completely unrelated note does anyone knows if the original version of "Same Trailer Different Park" which included "Nervous Breakdown" and "Hotel" ever got made into advanced copies? I've seen a few contradictory reports and I was wondering if there are actual copies out there...
