Heard this for the first time on SNL tonight, and I really liked it. I'm listening to the studio version now and this is probably my favorite track off of My Everything now. Hope this slays also, and they go with "Break Your Heart Right Back" next.

Uhhhhh.......
That's one of the worst performances I've seen on SNL in a while. The Weeknd was very good and both of their vocals were fine.
But she was clearly really nervous. She gets flack for not having stage presence, but you can tell just how NERVOUS she is here.
She starts off just standing and singing, barely moving, which is awkward for a sexual song. It just comes off timid, the opposite of the confidence needed to display a song like that.
Then The Weeknd mercifully comes on, and even though it's her song, at one point she awkwardly goes into the back corner LOL
Then from the bridge on she stays completely focused on the weekend, seemingly afraid to turn her body out to the audience (/camera), and only loosens up a little bit toward the end as she kind of relies on The Weeknd for support to carry her through it with him being up there to relieve her nerves.
Sorry, but woah, that was really not good.

I agree, her stage presence needs work, but I thought it was a good performance overall.

Her stage presence is a little basic, but she'll improve with time. I think she performs ballads really well, but uptempos isn't something she has mastered live yet. Her cat ears don't bother me, but I'm quite distracted by those ear pieces she wears, and it's not the bling-factor to them. The cords coming out of them are obnoxious and all over the place, they would look better wrapped behind her ears lol.

I agree that it was one of the worst performances I have seen on SNL. Her stage presence was beyond awkward, her lyrics were unintelligible, and at the end she was completely drowned out by and very out of synch with the backing track.
The Weeknd, however was absolutely fantastic! He carried the entire song and performance.

It was very distracting hearing her voice so clearly under her singing the song. It was especially noticable towards the end of the BF performance. I guess the main thing I got out of the LMH performance was how pleasant THE WEEKND's voice really is.

She's got a great voice! But that performance was awkward indeed. She started singing with her eyes closed for far too many seconds. Then she didn't interact well with her partner. Left him singing alone even though she was referring to her... And her attitude then seemed more like a slightly frightened teenager not sure of whether to stop the guy or invite him to play cards with her Her singing style also pales in comparison with the strength of Gaga when she sang with R Kelly. I LOVED it when finally The Weeknd grabbed her and at least danced with her. This is still MILES better than how Rihanna used to perform pre-Disturbia, but still her team needs to work with her intensively to overcome this situation. If she performs like this at the Grammys she may end up being eaten alive

You guys... Lady Gaga is a seasoned performer. Don't compare the two.
Also, Ariana is just starting out. This is her first song even remotely sexual that she's performed live, and of course she would be nervous. She will get better with time.

This is her first song even remotely sexual that she's performed live, and of course she would be nervous. She will get better with time. There are two angles to this though. In terms of stage performance, Ariana needs to improve for sure but she's commencing and I've already noticed improvement in her live performances. The other angle I was talking about was the vocal performance and that's where I compared her with Gaga. And that's an area where Ariana, as good singer as she is, should already be better at. At least in the record she emoted some sensuality (not the best attitude for the song IMO but decent enough). Live she missed that component and added to the weakness of the performance.

I am confused why Ariana looks so uncomfortable onstage though. Hasn't she had a cd and toured before and been performing somehow pretty much her entire life? I swear she had more confidence with her last cd. But, yes, I hope they have her working on her stage presence because she is a great talent in other regards and it would be a shame if that held her back in some way. I am still ADDICTED to this song though.

I hate to be a broken record, but that was painful to watch. Their vocals are on point, but she is totally clueless about what she's supposed to be doing on stage.

This is easily my favorite Ariana song ever, so I'm really glad it is the next single. I hope it smashes.
