FGL tweeted that they've already seen the first edit for the music video for this. I'm guessing it's the next single. Maybe it will be but I don't think there needed to be a thread yet until the single is actually confirmed. Filming a video doesn't guarantee singles (see Jake Owen's "Ghost Town" for recent proof).

I sure hope this isn't the single. This song really isn't that good. I actually like Anything Goes, it's pretty catchy.

I echo Ethan's thoughts. "Anything Goes" sounds decent, very catchy.
while I don't hate this as much as most do, it's still a lyrical trainwreck. I liked TIHWR, even if the lyrics were awful. This I can't get behind, embarrassing.
I'll also add that it's the first FGL single I have disliked.

Since this isn't confirmed I'm moving this thread over to the non-singles/album tracks forum for now. If/when we get confirmation of its release to country radio, please tag me or another mod and we'll move it back over to the country folder. Thanks. Thanks for the heads-up regarding the confirmation/source for this release, 14887fan. Just a general reminder to everybody, please don't start a thread unless the single release is officially confirmed. Sometimes songs that are widely-believed to be future singles don't end up getting released. It just helps keep the board cleaner if we hold off on threads until the release is officially confirmed. Thanks.

Maybe when the official thread is opened maybe it should go in the rap section, I kid but not really that much.

I guess it sounds a little better without the higher pitch. I was thinking there is no way they autotuned(or sung) it that high! Its definitely growing on me compared to first listen www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTgU_tGkPjQ

"Anything Goes" is way better IMO, I think they're making a mistake if they release it as the second single. Just because of the vibe it has, it would make more sense for a spring or summer release if they insist on releasing it. I just hope this song isn't too controversial for radio, and ends up halting their momentum.

Considering the above comments, I expected this to be vile along the lines of "Ready, Set, Roll", but I really don't find it to be all that bad. The production is somewhat pleasant to my ear (it's still bro obviously, but the loud guitars and hip hop beat have been toned down). The lyrics are pure garbage of course, but the get stoned lyric did make me chuckle. The getting laid line did seem a bit crass and sleazy though. Overall, it's bad (their vocals alone guarantee that), but by the incredibly low standards that FGL has set for themselves, I don't find it awful - they've released worse to my ears.

Overall, it's bad (their vocals alone guarantee that), but by the incredibly low standards that FGL has set for themselves, I don't find it awful - they've released worse to my ears. I happen to find "Sun Daze" much, much worse than "Ready Set Roll". Here we have the FGL boys talking about getting laid and getting stoned on a Sunday while making a terribly un-clever play on the word "Sunday". Not to mention the "set you up on the kitchen counter and put my pink umbrella in your drink" line that I and others think is an intentional and super-disgusting sexual innuendo/double entendre. (also, this Farce The Music review sums up how I feel about this song very well) Tyler's accent sounds super obnoxious to me on this one, more so than on any of their previous material. I really think that with "Sun Daze" they have their best chance yet of not topping the charts. I'm not saying that that will necessarily happen, but I think there will be a lot of backlash here, and therefore I *could* see it pulling a "1994" or "Lookin' For That Girl". I hate to make posts along the lines of "this is the worst song ever" but I just don't know what to say anymore. I cannot believe that someone actually sat down and wrote these lyrics. I can't believe that songs like this and "Burnin' It Down" have become so popular on a radio format that used to play poignant tunes from the likes of Alan Jackson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Randy Travis, Trisha Yearwood, George Strait, etc. Anyway, not much else to say here, so hopefully the next time I post in this thread, it's about the song struggling at radio.

I do think the production is not all that bad and somewhat pleasant like kw9461 said, but I just can't get past those lyrics. Their jaw droppingly atrocious. I still am somewhat blown away at the kitchen sink/stick the pink umbrella in your drink fiasco. Along with the unnecessary "laid" drop.
FGL would never be my cup of tea with their vocals and production on most of their songs but I keep getting proven wrong that there is no possible way they will top the garbage (IMO) of each singles lyrics.

I can't. I just can't. I'm so over these disgusting, crass, immature lyrics. The mere thought of hearing this crap on the radio (and the Highway is already playing it, vomit) makes me pretty sick.

Geez, no wonder I've been feeling nostalgic lately...
Just when I thought FGL has moved on from this "BRO!" phase, they turn around and prove me wrong. I capitalized "bro" because there's so much freakin' emphasis on it these days and it seems to grow exponentially by the week.Screw it. Y'all pretty much spoke for me.

I love this song! It's so damn catchy! This will easily be a song that is sure to be on every younger person's tailgate party playlist. But they definitely will need to clean up some of the trashy lyrics for country radio.

I actually do like the production. It's pleasant, and I love the whistle.
That said, the lyrics are atrocious. It's embarrasing and disgusting.

I have nothing new to add here ( jhomes87 pretty much covered all of my thoughts), but is FGL seriously releasing this as their second single? Is this what they'll be performing at the CMA's? I just can't...the lyrics are just atrocious. I'm hoping country radio wises up and enough stations refuse to play this...I'm hoping for a FGL backlash with this song. "I sit you up on a kitchen sink...stick the pink umbrella in your drink." Are you serious? edit: I found Saving Country Music's review to be spot on...I quite enjoyed this: Now the pop station is playing inspirational and confidence-building tunes from Lorde and Meghan Trainor, and country is the home of the unfettered smut fest. Sad, but true.

Can you blame them for releasing this?? This is going to be an anthem for people ages 16-35 or so. Let's be honest, people are going to be singing "All I wanna do today is wear my favorite shades and get stoned" all the time. The lyrics are terrible, but it's catchy as hell, and it's going to be huge. It's going to be talked about like crazy, and it will make FGL bigger than they already are.

But on the other side of that, there will be people who love it and it will be an anthem for that age group. They are also not alone.

I do know many are with me in thinking this song is garbage, but I don't know - most of my friends love FGL no matter what they release to radio. I think there's a high alarming number of people (young, especially males) who love their music regardless of the horrendous lyrics that make most of said music up. I do wonder when radio will deem an FGL polarizing enough to pull a "1994" like jhomes87 made mention of. I personally don't see it here with "Sun Daze" since they've yet to have that happen, but I wouldn't be totally shocked if it was - mainly because the lyrics are that bad and I do suspect some sort of radio edit will be done here.

I just can't imagine this going to No. 1 with those lyrics. Like, I know they're insanely popular, but I can still see country radio being hesitant enough with those lyrics that it's airplay might suffer to some degree that it'll peak lower. At least that's what I'd like to see happen (short of it not seeing the light of day on radio at all).

My god are these lyrics dumb.
Seriously, any song that uses the term "getting laid" seriously in 2014 isn't going to impress me that much, but holy crap is that "stick the pink umbrella in your drink" line a whole nother level of stupid.

There'll be a radio edit for this with altered lyrics. There'll jsut have to be or some of the more 'conservative' stations will NOT touch it. The line about the "sink and the "pink drink stick" originally passed me by but the innuendo is way too racy for radio, the lines about getting laid and high will be ok.

If radio wouldn't play "Follow Your Arrow" because it was too liberal and racy for country (ha!) then they have absolutely no reason to embrace this crap, other than the glaringly obvious double standards they have.

I agree but they'll play this. They'd have played "Follow Your Arrow" if came from Miranda or Carrie. It was a song that was too 'liberal' and came from a young female with not too much radio success yet.

Whatever positivity I gave these guys with "Dirt" is officially gone. I'm far from a prude , but come on. Have we seriously sunk to THIS in country music? From truck sex to kitchen sex? What kind of douche thinks the world really needs to know where he puts his pink umbrella? Perhaps they could cut some of David Allan Coes "classy" underground material next.
Their 5 minutes of fame cant run out quick enough....
