If anyone else wants to grade their songs, feel free to do so lol. But really, these guys are the Nickelback of the country genre. This and This Is How We Roll are especially mediocre (don't even talk about the remixes of Cruise and TIHWR)

I feel that while they're not a very deep group, they have a good knack for hooks, and Joey Moi's varied production gives them some color. "This Is How We Roll" is the only song I didn't care for, because it seemed so much less catchy or interestingly-produced than their other material.
As I've said already in this thread, I have no problem with this song at all. The whistling and the long Dobro solo make it stand out musically; the melody is catchy; and the casual references to sex ("getting laid", "pink umbrella in your drink") seem downright innocent in a world where knuckle-dragging songs like "Blurred Lines" or "Talk Dirty" exist.

Cruise: A- Get Your Shine On: B- Round Here: B- (WATZ almost never played it, so I didn't really get a feel for it) Stay: B+ (and this, they played even less…) This Is How We Roll: C- (yet they played this about 400 times a day) Dirt: A Sun Daze: B

Couldn't help but notice that "Sippin' On Fire" got one add this week according to the Country Aircheck Adds this week. And The Highway is playing it as well. It's already on their Hot 45 Weekend Countdown. (And yeah, not impressed.) KCYY in San Antonio just added it as well and that station is not known for "outside the box" adds.

I have a feeling this will hit a brick wall and will fail to reach #1. The bro-country trend is now receding and if Florida Georgia Line keep on churning out songs like this, I see their momentum and popularity ending soon. I liked "Dirt" and I hope they make some more 'meaningful' songs in the future.

I don't want to see the same songs reaching the Top 5 every time (Ready Set Roll, This Is How We Roll, Bottoms Up, Get Me Some of That, etc.) Or at least have some good bro-country (Sam Hunt, Chase Bryant, etc.)

Now top 5...
6 5 FLORIDA-GEORGIA LINE Sun Daze 6813 6433 380 48.38O
So, #FreePass
Oh no........
Dear country radio, please don't let this reach #1. These guys reached #1 with the same song thrice ("Cruise", "Get Your Shine On", "This Is How We Roll"). Don't make this a fourth.

This song is currently the number 3rd most downloaded country song on iTunes, Fla Ga Line has one of the best selling albums out right now, and they're one of the hottest names in country music right now, not to mention whether you like this song or not, it's very catchy. So please enlighten me to how this is getting a "free pass". Pretty much every indicator possible points towards this being a big hit, it's not like there's zero interest in this song.

Every country song that's by Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton and these guys automatically enter the top 5, regardless of their quality unless they are really bad (e.g. Jason's "1994") Usually when I say #FreePass, it does not mean that I don't like the song. But this song is not very good. At best, FGL's songs (including this) are catchy at best but usually their lyrics seem recycled. This trend is getting boring. And yes, I got the free pass idea from Cody in the rock forum. I don't mind this song but it is one of the weaker country songs on the chart. But I understand why the four acts automatically get free passes; good call-out scores and huge downloads.

You pretty much just proved your free pass theory wrong though by saying Jason Aldean's "1994" didn't get one due to it's lack of quality lol. Look, do the aforementioned artists tend to play it safe with their single choices?Certainly. None of them have took too many risks outside of "This Is How We Roll" and "1994" and I guess "Burnin' It Down". But for the most part, their songs have been the most popular ones out there. "Dirt" and "Burnin' It Down" and "Play It Again" were some of the biggest selling songs of 2014. All their other songs sell well too. I don't think they're good example of free passes. I would say, however, that a song like Take It On Back was more likely to have gotten a free pass, due to the On The Verge program bumping it up immensely and there still be a lack of interest in the song sales and streaming wise.

The latest songs from Chase Bryant, Brett Eldredge, Randy Houser, Chris Young, David Nail, Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay should be the ones getting free passes IMO (some of these songs are currently moving really fast). I still can't at David Nail struggling with "Kiss You Tonight", but it did well for a 2nd single (it outpeaked "Turning Home")

Didn't Luke Bryan's " That's My Kind of Night" stop at #2 on Mediabase and Country Airplay (although it was a multi-week leader at the hybrid Hot Country Songs)? It was a fast climber and big seller but it fell short of a #1 finish. Well, maybe Capitol didn't push it hard enough and was content with HCS.
I hope the same thing happens to "Sun Daze." I like FGL in general, but I'll be a bit embarrassed as a country radio listener if this reaches #1. #pinkumbrella

^ TMKON got to #1 on Mediabase. Remember, they cut it short because of the controversy over Zac Brown bashing it.

I'm pretty sure bluepaisley actually meant "This Is How We Roll" and just named the wrong song there, because TIHWR did stop at #2.

Oops! Sorry, my mistake! I actually thought TMKON stopped at #2 in both charts. I tend to remember Billboard Country Airplay peaks, though. Thanks for clearing this one up!
Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I hope country radio doesn't let this reach #1. The chart peaks of songs like "1994" and "Lookin' For That Girl" somehow give me hope about country radio.

These guys have a 7 million buffer in audience right now from the next song, Like A Cowboy, and with Jason and Blake's both cooling down a bit, I don't see too many ways for this song to miss the penthouse. Luke could be in store for 2 weeks at #1, but I think Sun Daze will have no problem waiting it out. Brace yourselves for another Fla Ga Line #1.
