Likewise, giving radio a ceiling for how much to play from each genre is a bad move. Some sounds and trends are more lucrative during certain periods. It's imperative that at points such as these, revenue be maximized, or at least brought close to maximization given what other operations are currently in play. Especially if others are simultaneously asking for a way to make streaming more profitable for artists. How do you expect the industry to make decisions that generate less money, and pay out more at the same time? It makes no sense. Yeah, I agree that sometimes radio fixates too much on one style of music (that's happened throughout all pop music history) and more diversity, especially but not just on CHR, would be desirable, but requiring "quotas" for certain genres is a bad idea. Who would make such determinations? There's already too much power concentrated on the big market/Clear Channel playlist makers; having some probably corporately chosen arbiter have even more say isn't needed. Not to mention that a lot of songs don't fit neatly into one genre. Is it R&B or hip hop? EDM or pop? Alt-rock or Hot AC? Lots of recent hits could be multi-classified, and having the charts determined by quotas with songs picked by arbitrary selection likely won't work well. Repealing or amending the 1996 Telecommunications Act would be helpful to stop this overconcentration of power into a few hands. At the risk of getting political, though, that opportunity was probably lost when it wasn't pursued in the first two years of the Obama administration, when Democrats had full control of the government.

1-Get rid of auto-tune. 2-Put more substancial songs on the radio, at the same time you can have your songs about having fun and partying, but also there needs to be a lot of variety when it comes to the radio, and balance when it comes to genres in terms of popularity and radio play. 3-Have people who care more about the music than the money, and are dedicated, and not make it too much about image. My thoughts exactly.

1. Banning artists from using Auotune in LIVE performances; if banning it entirely would be as impossible as some have said, I'd settle for that. If they want to use it during their own concerts, fine, just not during televised awards shows or other live events. 2. Decrease the prices of digital albums. 3. This doesn't really relate to the workings of the industry, but I'd love it if networks like MTV, CMT and VVH1 went back to playing music videos and airing programs relating to the industry. The shows on now are just garbage, and while it wouldn't really "improve" the industry, I think a lot of people would approve that change. .
