Bad for Lady A and Blake Shelton. Lady A's lead single is actually decent. As for Blake,"Neon Light" is awful and the rest of the pre-release singles were average. Lady A's fallen hard since the "Need You Now" days.

Out of curiosity, I compiled a comparative list of mid-career country A-list openings this year, with the first week sales, total sales, and release dates of their respective previous albums and how the first weeks for the new albums measured up.
Eric Church Outsiders (11 February 2014): 288K Previous album, Chief, released 26 July 2011, sold 145K (1.702 million) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 16.9% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: +98.6%
Miranda Lambert Platinum (3 June 2014): 180K Previous album, Four the Record, released 1 November 2011, sold 133K (992K) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 18.1% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: +35.3%
Brad Paisley Moonshine in the Trunk (26 August 2014): 53K Previous album, Wheelhouse, released 9 April 2013: 100K (287K) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 18.4% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: -47.0%
Tim McGraw Sundown Heaven Town (16 September 2014): 71K Previous album, Two Lanes of Freedom, released 5 February 2013: 107K (499K) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 14.2% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: -33.6%
Kenny Chesney Big Revival (23 September 2014): 130K Previous album, Life on a Rock, released 30 April 2013: 153K (421K) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 30.9% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: -15.0%
Based on projected sales of 85-95K for Blake Shelton and 67-72K for Lady Antebellum
Blake Shelton Bringing Back the Sunshine (30 September 2014): Previous album, Based on a True Story, released 26 March 2013: 199K (1.354 million) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 6.3%-7.0% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: between -52.3% and -57.3%
Lady Antebellum 747 (30 September 2014): Previous album, Golden, released 6 May 2013 (re-released as Deluxe version 12 November 2013): 167K (623K) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: 10.8%-11.6% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: between -56.9% and -59.9%
Notes: Kenny Chesney's previous album had only two singles, which explains its low total sales (and therefore why the "new album first week sales as a percentage of the previous album's total sales" number is so high). Brad Paisley was coming off an underperforming and controversial previous album despite four single releases, and his steep drop in first week sales reflects that. The two artists who managed to improve on the first week sales of their respective previous albums waited about two and a half years between releases (something faciliated in Eric's case by a string of successful singles and big sales, and something faciliated in Miranda's case by the long runs of her singles and, in particular, the fact that her previous album's biggest hit was its fourth single. She also appeared on a hit duet with Keith Urban after Four the Record had wrapped its run). Miranda's first week Platinum sales were also almost certainly lifted by her duet with Carrie Underwood (the only track other than the lead single made available in connection with album pre-orders at iTunes). The other five artists listed are all releasing new albums within twenty months of their previous albums.
Lady Antebellum's drop was telegraphed by their almost frenzied PR line about seeking to remake themselves and re-energize their show, I think -- they must have had internal indications that their numbers were down (the fact that they had to re-configure their tour in support of Golden must have been a major one). But the Blake Shelton (projected) number is harder to explain. He'll likely be buoyed by holiday shopping thanks to his time on The Voice, so perhaps it is as simple as the urgency not being there within his fanbase. He did only release his new single six weeks before his album was released, but said single is currently top-10 at country radio.
I didn't include Dierks Bentley since I'm not sure he can be considered an A-lister at this time. But for completists:
Dierks Bentley Riser (25 February 2014): 63K Previous album, Home, released 3 February 2012: 55K (248K as of late January 2013, I don't have a more recent figure) New album first week sales as percentage of previous album's total sales: If Home hit 300K in total sales, around 18.3% New album first week sales change from previous album's first week sales: +14.5%

What's better for Blake Shelton? Having a #3 debut with Based On A True Story with almost 200k in sales or a #1 debut with 90k in sales for Bringing Back The Sunshine?

I really hope Prince can manage to get both albums in the top ten. If so it's gonna be a squeaker for Plectrumelectrum.

Probably the latter since there's bragging rights given that the ultimate promotional strategy for this is going to be the same as the last 2 in that it'll be reliant on his TV popularity to drive numbers in the long run as well.

How the f**k is Frozen *still* selling? Unreal. There is a Frozen story arc currently airing on Once Upon a Time and every little girl in America wants to be either Anna or Elsa for Halloween. It's not going anywhere till after the holidays.

So Billboard will separate the "Frozen" releases as well?

So Billboard will separate the "Frozen" releases as well? Yes, it's 2 different releases. Shelton was able to sell 100k! The Top 13 all sell 20k+. Country albums must have been on sale last week. OneRepublic discounted again?
