5/3/14 @ the Piazza in Philadelphia, PA Chvrches: Great performance from start to finish. Lauren Mayberry sounded amazing and also made some amusing jokes (for example, as it got sunnier partway through the show, she joked about how it was the first time she'd seen the sun because she grew up in Scotland). I think they played pretty much everything off The Bones Of What You Believe, including all of my favorites. Cherub:I came to this show because of the other two bands (and also because it was free!), so I was expecting this to be my least favorite of the three, but they honestly sounded like a total train wreck. Their stage presence basically consisted of them standing there and lots of forced, out-of-place cursing. Phantogram:Literally a minute before they came on, Shaun White showed up in the audience and made his way over to the sound board. The result? At least half the audience had their backs turned to Phantogram as they made their way onto the stage. We felt bad for them initially, but then I learned later Shaun White and the Phantogram singer are actually dating, so Phantogram probably didn't mind too much haha. Their audience interaction was a bit sub-par, but as they're likely new to playing in front of larger audiences, this is something that will probably get better with time.

I'd have loved to see Phantogram. Their album is one of my favourites this year. I also got the Chvrches album and... I didn't care for it. I bet they'd be great to see live if only because they have a pretty good following so the audience would probably make it more enjoyable for me than just listening to the CD.

I'd love to see CHVRCHES live, but I'd probably leave afterwards. Cherub is horrendous and Phantogram are just boring.
