Epic continues to keep us guessing with the follow-up to Meghan Trainor's #1 debut single "All About That Bass." The new single is "Lips Are Moving" and it impacts October 21, according to AllAccess.

I don't know why they keep changing their mind on what single to be released next. Meghan did say in an interview (I can't remember where) that "Title" would be next.

Smart Choice. They probably realized DFH and Title weren't nearly as strong as AATB... instead of wasting the momentum, they're probably gonna release something just as instant and catchy from the LP

Well... Wish "Dear Future Husband" were going to get a proper release but hopefully this will have more overall hit potential.

I heard "Title" on the radio on Monday and it sounded great. I'm disappointed.

Is it too much to ask to let a one-hit wonder stay a one-hit wonder?

Is it too much to ask to let a one-hit wonder stay a one-hit wonder? Yes... then no one would ever have a second hit. But I think someone with THIS much potential deserves multiple hits.

Basically recreates the All About That Bass sound with a million references to "Bass" so you know it's the same person. The smartest release ever.

Maybe it's good to have a second hit, but i doubt stuck into the AATB sound will help her in the long run. When you have a hit with a very distinctive sound that it's not your sound, the best thing you can do it's trying to use that momentum to have a hit with your real sound. The fact that AATB is a summer hit doesn't help her either, because it's easy to associate her hit with summertime. From the number ones of this summer Boom Clap and Stay with me didn't have that problem, Am i wrong and Rude on the other hand can be associated with a summer one hit wonder. Nico and Vinz seems they are going to avoid that fate (too soon to say because in your arms is not yet in the hot 100 billboard). In Meghan's case the dangers are bigger because there's a more viral hit component in her success

They're overthinking this second single. "Dear Future Husband" would have worked just fine. This song is my least favorite, of the choices we've heard.

They're overthinking this second single. "Dear Future Husband" would have worked just fine. This song is my least favorite, of the choices we've heard. How would they have addressed the plagiarism claim? She put it to bed easily once, but a second time would be problematic. I know she publicly said something about Title better reflecting her sound (which, in fairness, is a point I made in the other thread), but let's be honest - there was no way they could release this given its obvious likeness to "Runaround Sue" (or "Dance with Me Tonight" for those whose musical knowledge doesn't predate the 21st century). And I'm pretty sure that's the only reason -- as smart business said to go with the one that was selling. And this wasn't a "Work" vs. "Black Widow" scenario in which the former had an advantage from the viral video and years of awareness; "DFH" and "Title" have had a reasonably level playing field.

It's good, but I would have preferred Dear Future Husband to be the 2nd single.

i somewhat prefer Dear Future Husband and Title mostly since i only listened to this once so far though it will most likely grow on me. i am happy though she kept the same sound since that is mostly what has made me a fan of hers.

This is just a rehash of "All About That Bass", but with a better chorus. But the references to 'bass' are totally stupid... I would have gone with something off of the EP.
One thing that doesn't add up to me is: why even bother releasing an EP when they are going to do something from the full LP and not release anything from the EP? Like it's just a waste of time and money to promote something that won't get any press following this release. They should have released this (or whatever they decide to go with) along with the pre-order to her full length, which could have been here before the end of the year. Stupid Epic Records is stupid.

I suspect that's what will happen (although this is Epic...) - preorder up soon with this and the EP tracks (presuming they're all included) as instant grats and push it out before the holiday break. Otherwise, yeah, it'd be odd to push this as a single separate from a fuller release.

Releasing an EP and then not using it (few weeks after the release to top it off) is pointless. Not sure what Epic has going through their minds right now, but they're definitely not in the right state of mind.

Hmm. It's okay and could do okay, or could bomb completely. Not sure how I feel. It's not bad, but feels rushed. As if the label said "we want ABTB 2". The only thing I'm sure of is that this won't be top 10. Jmo of course .
I am all for the throwback(don't get me wrong) just done a little different.

Another smash.....it's a complete hook fest from the very intro......the pre hook, hook, and post hook are ear candy AND I believe it being so short is helpful to her radio rotation. It's not like Epic really has to spend a lot on her because fashion wise she's pretty simple, and she writes her own music, and on top of that her producers are relatively unknown so their production fees aren't insane. I'm sure she's got a nice little budget to work with for the type of artist she is.

loving this more and more with every listen (which seems to happen a lot with mer and her music), but i'm still confused and hoping that at least one other song from the ep will somehow end up on radio. crossing fingers.

..........Meh........ they traded "Title" for this? I don't like that it's a sequel single because when I get sick of AATB, how will this help?
