Yas, serve me that minor-key disco perfection, Marina! I'm starved for it.

I could be wrong, but I think the album is titled "Froot" as well. I really like the song and it gets better with each listen. It'll definitely need some kind of radio edit to become a hit, but I'm just glad to be listening to new Marina again. =)

Love this song--has that ABBA influence that La Roux's "Uptight Downtown" has, which I also am loving. Really looking forward to this album. I only went back to about half of the Electra Heart album, but I loved that half. "Primadonna," "How To Be A Heartbreaker," and "Radioactive" all should have been big.

I like Froot but it feels more of a warm-up than a real lead single. I hope she has some Primadonna-esque songs on the album.

I was obsessed with Electra Heart for a good year or so before it finally burned out on me (though I still revisit "Primadonna" and "Teen Idle" pretty often), but I love the track and I can't wait to see what the album is like!

I quite like this and can see myself getting lost in it, but it's not a hit - also needs edited down a bit.
Love Marina though and listen to her stuff regularly so excited for the album.

I really like this one. It had to grow on me, though. Anyways, I read that the album was titled Froot as well. Regardless, I'm so excited. Electra Heart is still perfect. It deserved to be a smash.

I'm undecided on it at the moment, but it's an interesting direction for her and I'd like to see how telling this is of the rest of the album... so I guess it did that much for me?

Lead single? I'd read it was just the title track.
Anyhow I think it sounds promising.... but I don't care much for it overall.
It will be hard for her to top Electra Heart though.

This made me less excited for the album. I know that is sort of drama queen because it is one song, but I hope this isn't one of the highlights of the cd. I think what bothers me about it is that it doesn't really have the elements that typically draw me toward a Marina song.

I like the track, but it doesn't sound like a good lead single.
I'm still mixed on this chick overall. She has a good sense of melody, but her pretentiousness is extremely grating. I am curious to see what she does now though, given that her previous project didn't do what she wanted it to.
I'm in the minority who actually strongly preferred Electra Heart to her debut, but the best parts sounded like other people (Katy Perry, Lana Del Rey, Calvin Harris, etc.). That said though, Primadonna, Bubblegum Bitch, and Teen Idle were all definite keepers, and a few others showed potential too.

This is her best song as far as I'm concerned:
If she has anything half as good as that on the album, I'll be pleased.

Why HTBAH wasn't a legit, certified Platinum hit is beyond me.

I'm loving this though if this is the general sound of the album then she's pretty much accepted she'll never make it too big. Oh well, as long as she keeps selling enough to keep pushing out new albums every few years I won't complain too much.

I don't think she's terribly interested in mainstream success. Last album was more of a concept than a commercial attempt, although she had the material for it. She was never an artist designed to make it as a traditional pop star anyway.
Electra Heart was way better than her debut. It was a lesser Lana Del Rey, but still more realized than Gaga or Kanye. Still, the album had a lot of holes. 'Primadonna' and 'Homewrecker' are the only two songs that held up-- unless you consider 'Radioactive' and 'Electra Heart' a part of the album. I don't, but they're the best tracks to come out of that era which is a damn shame.

An email just sent to her email list confirmed the album title is also Froot.

This has grown on me tremendously. I cannot wait for the album so I've been playing Electra Heart on repeat since Froot leaked.

I'm not sure I believe your first comment, I think Primadonna was fully intended to be a hit - as was Electra Heart, her label clearly invested a lot in producers. Lana got their first, unfortunately. I agree it was more of a concept, that's clear in how material/videos were released. The material is there (sometimes) - Primadonna and Radioactive are killer songs - it's her persona and voice that don't really work for the mainstream. Her voice is quite operatic and for lack of a better word, odd. She doesn't really have a superstar persona either, which isn't really a problem, it just means she won't carry material to the top of the charts. Melodies are her strength - she has some really beautiful tracks, Numb being one of my favourites. Starring Role is great as well for the same reason. As long as she keeps making music I guess it doesn't really matter. Froot has really grown on me :)

I'd also counter that Lana didn't really beat her to it. Both 'Primadonna' and 'How to be a Heartbreaker'' were released around the time of Lana's SNL disaster iirc, and she didn't get a real hit until 'Summertime Sadness' long after Marina had a shot. The only thing Lana did first was execute the whole american dream concept. Lana ultimately got the bigger following for her concept though-- is that what you mean?

Sort of, the US for sure - in the UK, I definitely felt like Marina was just a bit late.

I usually only really like 1-2 songs from her albums. Not feeling this one, but hopefully I'll find something I like.
