Can't Pin Me Down is possibly the best song she's ever done.

I prefer Electra Heart, but this is easily above The Family Jewels for me. Favourites are I'm A Ruin, Gold, Can't Pin Me Down and Weeds. Forget and Blue are great too though.
It's more consistent and level than any of her previous albums, but doesn't have as many highs as EH for me. Still love it though.

Debuts at No. 10 in the UK, I'm surprised I figured it would go top 5. Any idea where it'll place in the US?

^^ I haven't really seen any major coverage for the album in the UK barring a few posters on the tube and none of the tracks have gone Top 40, so that's quite a healthy entry.

Saw her twice at SXSW on Friday. She was incredible. Her voice is top notch. I only wish she had performed Happy.

Her album has generally done better than her previous 2 in most of the markets with the exception of the UK. Her first album peaked at #5 and Electra Heart hit #1 there. Blue is the only real hit on the album; hopefully they push that.

I'm not surprised at the UK debut. She's done virtually nothing there since Primadonna.
The funny thing is that 5 years ago if you said that her biggest market would most likely end up the US, most people would have probably disagreed.

I guess I was a little surprised because I was assuming there was a lot of buzz surrounding this. I just hope sales don't nose dive after this week since there isn't any air play support. I think Blue would be the best choice to go with next if they do plan on sending something to radio, or I'm A Ruin. Such a flaw free song.

Shocked at the #10 debut in the UK. She's never been huge there but I thought her following would be big enough for a top 5 placement at least. She's such in a weird position as far as commercial success goes. Overall she's doing ok in the UK and some other parts of Europe, she's set to have her highest sales week ever in the US but it feels like she's still an 'underground' artist on the verge of breaking into the mainstream in a huge way. She just needs a global hit to finally establish herself once and for all. I hope her label invests into promoting I'm A Ruin in every way possible since that has tons of commercial appeal. I don't get all the love for Blue; its chorus is not strong enough and the whole song just misses something. Forget is the way to go after they're done with I'm A Ruin.

Blue is the only way to go as far as commercial success is concerned.

I don't get all the love for Blue; its chorus is not strong enough and the whole song just misses something. It's melody is the strongest on the album imo. "Gimme love, gimme dreams, gimme a good self esteem; gimme good and pure, what you waiting for?" is the most memorable line on the album. It seems like such a perfect Spring/Summer single.

I still find it so fascinating that she wrote this whole album herself. Makes me appreciate her talent so much more.

Perhaps I find it to be too Family Jewels-esque in both lyrics and production for my liking. I prefer depressed Marina instead of ironic Marina. Why is she so perfect though? :'( :'(

I can't get enough of I'm A Ruin. I'd love for that to be a single, but I'm sure it wouldn't do anything. Blue and Forget are the only songs that might get any success.

She's set to perform Forget tomorrow on GMA. She should have done Blue or I'm a Ruin. :s

I dont think she wants commercial success to be honest though. They tried that with Electra Heart and she's been very clear that that album was not where she wanted her career headed. They really did everything they could to make her over into a run of the mill pop star with Dr. Luke, adding How To Be a Heartbreaker after the UK release to try to get a US hit out of the record etc There's nothing on Froot that is going to blast her into the pop stratosphere, but I dont think she's trying to get there anyway. She is one of the few pop artists that would be perfect content to do the music she wants and as long as a couple people show up to see her shows, she'd be satisfied.

were any singles pushed? i thought "i'm a ruin" was but that hasn't even appeared on the chart. Mate who works at MTV said it was the 'official' lead, pushed to radio and the video was added to rotation - clearly just didn't do a lot, but then she hasn't done a great deal of promo either.

#8 on the BB 200 with 46,000 (43,000 being pure album sales).
Absolutely terrific start, especially when you consider that she more than quadrupled her prior debut that came with them trying to push a proper radio single, and it's already sold a third of the previous album's total.
I'm seeing her tomorrow for the first proper show for this album, she should be in good spirits I assume from this news.

Great start! It was risky waiting to promote the album in the second week, but I think it will pay off.

I'm so glad she reached top 10! She really gathered loyal fans from Electra Heart. I really hope sales can keep up, at least somewhat. I would love some more TV promo in the US.

I love how she's performed multiple songs on tv and that she basically promotes the album instead of a single. That said, I hope they give an official pop adds date to any song soon. Perhaps she's performing multiple songs to see which one will go higher on iTunes and then push that as the official single?
