There's little odds that "Pray For You" makes the top 40. Its accumulated just 450k in audience the past 30 days and just 2 total new adds in that time period. It's already lost 200k in audience this week on MB and because it went bulletless on Billboard this past week, it will be sent recurrent if it can't rebound (21 weeks old). It's already been brought up many times before, but this song is doing shockingly bad sales wise. It isn't even charting right now on the all-genre chart, and I don't believe has for a while if at all (but I'm just guessing).
This will probably be the last single from their debut album, and with the change in leadership at Sony, along with the Swon Brothers awful sales numbers, I think they're in deep trouble sustaining a long term relationship with the label.

It's highly-likely that they'll get a chance at another album. They could use Frankie Ballard as a model (although there wasn't a regime change with his stunted debut vs. breakout sophomore project). I would suspect they'll have all the chances in the world to succeed given their familiar enough to warrant touring slots. They just need better material.

I don't think it's a slam dunk or anything, that they'll get dropped, just a feeling I get looking at this situation. For the record, I do think more artists should get more chances than one or two singles, but that's an issue in the world of major label music, which is a business. I don't know what Arista/Sony's ultimate goals were in regards to their debut album or singles sales but I can assure you it was far greater than this. I also don't know how much money has been spent on them - I do know they really went full throttle with the preparation for "Later On" and the promotion for that song as its chart run progressed. That song wanted to die in the 20's and Arista rigorously pushed it to a peak just outside the top 10. I guess I personally don't see how they can continue with them on the roster, given the numbers, but like you said, perhaps the incumbent CEO will give them a lead single for another album. It's hard to lobby for though IMO.

Frankie Ballard's had pretty lousy single/album sales all things considered, but his last two singles went to #1 and "Helluva Life" went Gold (and I wouldn't be surprised if "Sunshine & Whiskey" eventually does as well, though IDK its totals), so I don't see the comparison. I feel like the potential is there for Frankie but The Swon Brothers are just not connecting, at all. I think it is incredibly telling that they made the finale of their season of The Voice and are basically not selling at all with this, while RaeLynn just sold enough singles for "For a Boy" in its first week to debut at #32 on the HCS chart and on the Bubbling Under extension of the Hot 100, when she got considerably less airtime on The Voice and her new single has basically no airplay yet.
If these guys get another chance, I'll be disappointed, because we've seen far more talented artists get dropped for far less than the pitiful return on The Swon Brothers thus far.

Frankie Ballard's "Sunshine & Whiskey" was certified Gold back in December ( link). But otherwise I completely agree. The Swon Brothers' music does absolutely nothing for me. I don't mind the concept of this song, but I absolutely hate the melody of the chorus. It sounds like a lullaby (and a really annoying one at that). And I agree with what Ten Pound Hammer has said in the past--their voices sound super thin to me. Out of all the acts signed to Sony, I think the Swon Brothers are the ones that are in the most trouble now that Gary Overton is leaving. The Henningsens are probably also in trouble, although I imagine they'll get at least one more single/try under new leadership. Josh Dorr and Steven Lee Olsen could also be in trouble, and perhaps the new Sony boss won't wanna move forward with Dee Jay Silver (not that he was ever likely to get a push to radio or anything like that, but Sony is/was planning to release an album from him).

"Pray For You" is finished. It lost another 177k in audience today and has lost 550k since last Sunday. It's also lost 145 spins in that time frame. It should be sent recurrent by Billboard on Monday with it already having it's grace week.
It's MB and Billboard peak was #43.

I love the chorus of this song. I do prefer "Later On" but this is great too. I can tolerate their voices if I like the song they're singing. I previewed the album at one point, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. I'll need to listen to it again. Not that surprised this song didn't do much. I just don't see them taking off.
