Well, maybe Sam will play nice and let DL sneak in a week before he has to claim multiple weeks at the top like he has with all his other singles thus far. If not, it's a race to the top and I say go DL.. maybe the underdog will come out on top.

If not, it's a race to the top and I say go DL.. maybe the underdog will come out on top. His first two singles actually only spent 1 week at #1 each, so I don't think there's any guarantee that "House Party" is headed for a multiple weeks here. Whether it causes Dustin Lynch trouble remains to be seen though of course, but with the way things go at radio right now, I wouldn't bet against any radio-friendly uptempo male hit once it hits Top 10 going to the top. If anything were to try for 2 or more weeks at #1 anyway, it'll probably be Luke Bryan and/or Zac Brown Band, which would probably be more problematic for Frankie Ballard than Dustin Lynch.

Oh, I just meant Sam hitting the top in general. Forgot to specify yet again Good news for DL though!!

Is this one going to make it to #1 or will it stall short?

Is this one going to make it to #1 or will it stall short? "Hell Of A Night" is up 575 spins and over 3.0 million in audience this week, so its certainly not stalling. Broken Bow will at least get a MB #1 out of this and I could see a scenario where Dustin gets the MB #1 and Sam gets the Billboard #1 after Frankie exits the #1 position next week -- it still could end up #1 on both charts but Sam's song being in the way might pose a problem -- I wouldn't worry at all if you're a fan of this song though. Thomas Rhett and Chris Janson are too far behind to be any sort of threat either. We'll see a steady stream of "my turn, your turn" over the next couple weeks.

Yet another song with really poor sales getting pushed to the top, just because he's a male artist. Over 40 weeks old, not very many people are buying it (compared to every other song in the top 20), this topic has been done 100 times in the last couple of years...I just don't understand why radio pushes non-event songs like this and "Kiss You In The Morning" and "Young & Crazy" to hit status (well, I do understand -- it's because they're "friends" with the artists...but it really shouldn't be about that. Ugh).
Even though I didn't like "Kick The Dust Up" at all, I would rather see bigger hits like that one and "Loving You Easy", "Take Your Time", "Sangria", and in a few weeks, "House Party" and "Buy Me A Boat", spend 2-4 weeks at #1 each and have songs like this one and the Michael and Frankie tunes peak just inside the top 10, or even outside the top 10. None of those songs have moved the needle very much.

As expected, Dustin's team will be pushing for the #1 on Labor Day weekend. It's like planes coming in for a landing: Frankie Ballard #1 on the 23rd/24th, Sam Hunt #1 on the 30th/31st, then Dustin #1 on the 6th/7th. After that it'll be Thomas Rhett, then Chris Janson, and then Keith Urban...and it's hard to see any of them getting more than 1 week at #1, but hopefully we'll see a few 2-weekers and a couple songs falling short of #1. This ad was in Country Aircheck Today: I still think there's a chance that Sam could go for a 2nd week at #1, at least on Billboard, in which case Dustin would probably just be a Mediabase-only #1...but his chances will be pretty high for the #1 on both charts.

Finally this one will be gone soon. It's one of the oldest charting songs at nearly 10 months. "Where It's At" had only about a 6 month chart run. For how slow this song started I thought there was no way it'd get this high, but I am glad for Dustin's sake because I think he is an awesome artist and hope his popularity continues to increase.
Are there any rumors on what the next single will be? I really hope they go with another one from this album. This album is one of my favorites in recent memory. He mixes the traditional with the modern so well and it has such a fresh sound. To me "Mind Reader" is the obvious choice here. I would be ecstatic if it is the next single. When I first heard the song it blew my mind. Such a beautiful song. It has already charted at 43 on Hot Country Songs and I think it would climb much faster than "Hell Of A Night".

I honestly expect Dustin to chase the current R&B trend going on, so whatever song fits that description best will probably be next. I read an interview with him where he stated they recorded songs for whatever trend is popular while the album is out: bro, R&B and traditional. If be shocked if we get "She Wants A Cowboy" or "Your Daddy's Boots", even though they're the best songs on the album IMO.

Pretty sure it'll be Middle Of Nowhere, Halo or Mind Reader... more so the later two. Those two seem to be the ones he constantly plays at his live shows. Not last performance last week at the Opry but I think the time before it, they had a survey of those 3 songs asking which people want to hear. I feel like artists do that to get feedback for future singles too, no doubt.
Really happy for him and his team!!

This one finally made it to the top...almost a year later though. I'm a big Dustin Lynch fan so I'm definitely ready for the next single.

I didn't care much for this since the first time I heard it so I hope his next single is an improvement.

I'm so sick of this song being on the charts along with "Gonna Wanna Tonight". Glad it's finally peaking. Hope "Mind Reader" is actually next.
Edit: My prayers have been answered!

"Hell Of A Night" has mercifully peaked, as it hits #1 this week.
I started this thread on October 13th of 2014...328 days ago, lol.

Which song had the longest chart run? Lee Brice's "Love Like Crazy", Chase Rice's "Ready Set Roll", or this song? Was there any other song that had a longer chart run than the three of these?

"Love Like Crazy" at 55 weeks, followed closely by "Outta My Head" which fell one week short of tying Lee's record. Craig's was slightly more impressive since his song only made the top 15.

I think radio is doing this backwards.
When you have a p.o.s. song, such as this one, I think they should just run it up the charts and get rid of it instead of assaulting our auditory senses for almost a year.
We all know that the top is a revolving door anyway and everyone is looking for a #1. Give them the #1 and move on. Of course, they will never do this since it will take away the time that radio can extort Best Buy gift cards from the labels.

I keep forgeting that it was "Keep Them Kisses Comin'" that went Top 10 and not "Outta My Head." The latter is far more memorable a track than that.

If ever there was a song that could go recurrent from #1, this might be it. I doubt it will lose that much, but it will be entertaining to see radio completely drop this over the next week or two.

Looks like I'm the only one excited that he actually got to the top (2nd in a row, woohoo!!!) And let me tell you, I have enough excitement for everybody!! ;)
Ready for next single though! Do we have any conformation yet? He's been signing "Sing It To Me" live the past couple nights and as many times as I've seen him live, I've never heard him do it before (and I soooo wish I have, lol!) That would be awesome if that's the new single but any of the previously stated ones would be too.
