YOUR NEW RELEASES: Just in time for Halloween, horror-rockers Slipknot will be at the front of the line for chart treats next week. The great Neil Diamond, meanwhile, is set for a strong bow with an appreciably gentler, though no less autumnal, new album. That said, Christmas is already in the air—and there’s something for every stocking in the latest assortment of Q4 releases. A cappella fivesome Pentatonix are truly bringing the frankincense and myrrh, as their Yuletide full-length gets off to a holly, jolly start. Here are this week's key debuts:
Slipknot (Roadrunner) 100-110k Neil Diamond (Capitol) 70-80k Logic (Def Jam) 65-70k T.I. (Grand Hustle/Columbia) 65-70k Little Big Town (Capitol Nashville) 30-35k Pentatonix (RCA) 28-32k Annie Lennox (Blue Note) 24-27k Aretha Franklin (RCA) 21-24k Susan Boyle (SYCO/Columbia) 16-18k

Literally had no idea Slipknot was even together, but that's cool they can pull some decent numbers like that.

Is Slipknot really horror-rock? Hits keeps using that term, but beneath the costumes, isn't Slipknot a pretty straightforward metal/hard rock band?

Good numbers for Slipknot, not so good for Aretha but it has potential to sell well for the rest of the year

Bad for T.I., but there was very little promo this time around.

It's too early for a Christmas album to do real #s (look at the freaking Idina sales) and this is too close to their last release. Why not do a win-win and launch the album in mid-November?

Didnt pentatonix just release a few weeks ago, when tony and gaga did? To clarify, this is a different release - a Christmas album (or EP; I don't recall) - but I agree with kanimal that they're too closely spaced together (and that October releases for holiday albums are weird in general).

Not very good numbers for veteran divas over 50.

This way every store is stocked with the album on November 1. Josh Groban released 2007's best-selling album in October of that year.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6289424/slipknot-heading-for-second-no-1-albumSlipknot Heading for Second No. 1 AlbumBy Keith Caulfield | October 22, 2014 9:04 PM EDT Rock band Slipknot is on course for its second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry forecasters say the act’s new album, .5: The Gray Chapter, which was released on Oct. 21 through Roadrunner Records, could sell a little over 100,000 copies in the week ending Oct. 26. It's the group’s first studio release since 2008’s All Hope Is Gone, which debuted atop the list. The new Billboard 200’s top 10 will be revealed on Oct. 29. Slipknot is just one of a bevy of acts that are set for handsome debuts on next week's chart. As we approach the holiday shopping season, more and more A-list names will start to populate the top of the chart with notable arrivals. Also set for high debuts on the new chart: Neil Diamond's Melody Road (70,000), Logic's Under Pressure (65,000 to 70,000), T.I.'s Paperwork (65,000 to 70,000), Little Big Town's Pain Killer (30,000), Pentatonix's new Christmas set That's Christmas To Me (30,000) and Annie Lennox's Nostalgia (25,000).

Notice no one's mentioning it, but this week is another bad one for country.
Little Big Town doing 30-35K coming off an album that did 113K in its opening week and went platinum?

I'm sure a large part of it is due to the group really not having much of a hit leading into it. "Day Drinking" hasn't come anywhere close to what "Pontoon" became. Still, that's a really unfortunate drop. I love the album.

YOUR TOP 15: Nearly half of the Top 15 are new releases—and whether your taste runs to masked metal marauders, pop icons, hip-hop comers or Nashville upstarts, there’s something for you. Here’s how we think the top of next week’s chart will look. 1. Slipknot (Roadrunner) 100-110k 2. Neil Diamond (Capitol) 75-80k 3. Logic (Def Jam) 65-70k 4. T.I. (Grand Hustle/Columbia) 65-70k 5. Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 55-60k 6. Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 55-60k 7. Barbra Streisand (Columbia) 40-45k 8. Little Big Town (Capitol Nashville) 30-35k 9. Pentatonix (RCA) 30-35k 10. Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (Columbia/Interscope) 28-32k 11. Sam Smith (Capitol) 25-28k 12. Annie Lennox (Blue Note) 24-27k 13. Aretha Franklin (RCA) 20-23k 14. Bob Seger (Capitol) 18-21k 15. Hozier (Columbia) 17-20k In other news, if Sinead O'Connor does a holiday album, it's unlikely to include a lot of Chanukah songs. (10/23p)
