"I See You" continues to act more like a lead single than a sixth single. It increases another 7.3 million in audience this week as it moves from #30 to #24 on MB. It has accumulated 14.3 million in audience in the past two weeks. It's also the Greatest Gainer on Billboard this week, moving 28-23*.

I'm surprised many people are not enjoying this one (or at least compared to other potential singles from his album). This is easily one of the better singles released from this album in my opinion. I enjoyed "Crash My Party", but the combination of "That's My Kind of Night", "Drink a Beer" and "Play It Again" had all kinds of distaste about this album and Luke. But now with "Roller Coaster" and "I See You" (and the claim to many other enjoyable songs on this album), I should probably listen to the rest of it. For singles from this album, I'd rate them as: 1. Roller Coaster 2. Crash My Party 3. I See You (huge gap) 4. Drink a Beer 5. Play It Again (enormous gap) 6. Thats My Kinda Night Why is "Drink a Beer" lumped in with that crowd? Not saying it's some amazing song or whatever, but it's an emotional song with a clear country sensibility to the lyric. Completely avoids the "poppy" and "bro-y" criticisms that are waged against That's My Kind of Night and Play it Again But he's saying he CAN'T do that, which is a pretty honest sentiment relatable to anyone ever dealing with a hard breakup. It's not super sophisticated or eloquent, but it's real - and that's what country is all about. Gotta say I agree with you on "Drink a Beer" and I'd even throw "Play It Again" in there (though I know most Pulsers weren't big fans of the tune). "That's My Kinda Night" is just annoying, but the other two are pretty solid songs. "Drink a Beer" is one of the better songs from a male country artist during the bro-country era. It tells a simple story well and is something I, and many people I know, were able to relate to. Luke gets a lot of flak, but this album is actually pretty solid. Sure it's got it's fair share of bro-country but there's some really good "country" songs on there.

Country Airplay *** No. 1 (2 weeks)*** "Somewhere In My Car" Keith Urban Greatest Gainer No. 16 "I See You" Luke Bryan Debut No. 55 "Riot" Rascal Flatts
Well this song is just moving and moving on up, already at #16 (#23 last week) after having "Greatest Gainer" honors again this week for Billboard Country Airplay.

Excellent movement for a sixth single. It is the youngest song in the top 20 (four weeks). Makes Look At You (40 weeks) its grandkid. P.S.: Just found out about Luke Bryan's brother-in-law. My condolences go out to the family.

I can't believe how big this guy is right now. He releases a sixth single from an album that's a year and a half old the same day that country's second and third biggest stars release the second singles from their brand new albums, and he leaves both of them in the dust...and those songs aren't even struggling. And it's not like this song was just begging to be released a la "Play It Again" either. Simply amazing.
This has grown on me so much the past few weeks. It might be my favorite single from him now.

I don't think anyone anticipated this one moving up so quickly. Even if it stays at it's current rate it will take another 6 weeks to reach #1. That leaves us at the end of January. Would they try to push for a seventh single? There might be *just* enough time to get one up the charts before a lead single comes out for a fall album release.
Unless he plans on putting out an album earlier (which I wouldn't imagine, since CMP is still selling extremely well).

They can issue the next "Spring Break EP" to hold core fans over and then he can launch the new single with the ACM Awards. A seventh single might "taint" this album's success a bit if it were to 'fail' (not that it would given how hot his career is at this point).

I don't think this can quite get to #1 by the end of January. "I See You" is climbing super fast, there's no doubt about that, but it's probably going to need at least 46 million to challenge for the Billboard #1. So, Luke is halfway there right now, and even if he can average 3 mil over the next 6 weeks, that's only 18 mil there. That would get Luke to just over 40 million but that's only IF this can manage an average gain of 3 million per week over the next 6 weeks, and even for the quickest of climbers, that's tough to do. Plus, don't forget about the holidays. We've only got 2 more "normal" charts left--this week and then the week right before Christmas (which won't get published because Billboard won't publish their country update on Monday the 22nd, but we should be able to find the numbers online by the 24th). During Christmas week, Luke will probably lose 3-4 million in audience, and then during New Year's week he'll probably gain that much or maybe a bit more. So essentially Christmas week and New Year's week cancel each other out. I'd guess that a #1 peak in February is more likely for this one. Let's give 2-3 weeks at #1 for Tim and Brad, 2-3 weeks split between Kenny and Carrie (maybe Parmalee can somehow sneak in too?), and then maybe another week or two for "Talladega". That would more or less put us into early February.

SIX WEEKS into the Top 10? Is this his fastest ascent?

SIX WEEKS into the Top 10? Is this his fastest ascent? No. "That's My Kind Of Night" hit #10 in its 5th week, and #8 in its 6th week (it also had 30.3 million in audience in week 5, whereas "I See You" is just over 28.3 million in week 6). Obviously a very fast ascent for "I See You" though, especially when it's put into context (6th single and all).

I'm a huge pre-CMP era Luke fan! Then "Crash My Party" was just fine, but I never had interest in it, and then "That's My Kind of Night" was awful but catchy, "Drink a Beer" was okay, so by this point I had lost interest in him. THEN he releases "Play It Again" and I fell back in love with the era... and then he lost me ONCE again with the bland (for me anyways) "Roller Coaster" BUT now he has my interest again "I See You" is what I like from Luke, so this era has been a literal roller coaster for me.

What an amazing era for Luke. With "I See You" rocketing up the charts as the 6th single, I wouldn't be surprised if no 7th single is released just to preserve it from potentially "ruining" the accomplishments of the album if it under performs (which I'm sure it wouldn't ruin it in most people's eyes, but you know how that goes). Overall, this might be the most impressive era in any genre since Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream"

It says in Country Weekly that Luke's new album is in the early recording process so we will probably see a seventh single after this. It also says that "I See You" was originally going to be the lead single for "Crash My Party".

It also says that "I See You" was originally going to be the lead single for "Crash My Party". I interpret that to mean that we won't get a 7th single. "I See You" won't peak until sometime in February. After that I imagine there will be a small gap between it and the first single from a new album. If Luke is already recording new music, he should be able to easily get the lead single done and ready to go for an April release/performance on the ACM Awards, followed by the full album in the summer sometime.

^You're most likely right (as always) i was unsure, i just thought "early recording process" meant that the album would take a while

This song is on my last nerve, so is Luke Bryan, his label Capitol just blows my mind, this song has risen up a little over 1,000 spins just since last Saturday (Jan 10th) and has a strong ridiculous bullet of 1,032 on Mediabase and has gained an INCREDIBLE 7 mil in audience in that same time period. What is the deal, why the rush and why the strong push this past week?? I hate this type of manipulation on the chart and hope this song falls like a rock after hitting #1, which it will and it's sad it looks like it's going to block "Something In The Water" from #1 altogether on both Mediabase and Billboard (ESPECIALLY Billboard). Country Radio stinks!!!!

Country Radio stinks!!!! Not to mention that this song is a mediocre one that is IMO undeserving of #1. But Luke, Blake, Jason and FGL are what country radio wants and any song from them will reach at least the top 5 (there are some exceptions such as Jason's "1994" but that's because it was realllllly mediocre). #FreePass

Country Radio stinks!!!! It's not a push or manipulation. The Cumulus block has been unfairly holding back "I See You" in low/medium rotation (~20-25 spins) for the past few weeks. They're just now being fair to Luke and giving it top 5 airplay (~45-50 spins). Since the Cumulus block is large, we have roughly 30 stations simultaneously upgrading "I See You" by 25x spins this week.

This May surprise some people on this board, but there are plenty of people who love Luke Bryan and I See You. There are many people who like this song better than Something In The Water, so to say it's unfair that Luke Bryan blocks her from #1 doesn't make any sense. Luke Bryan is the most popular country star out there now period. This song is still selling we'll somehow despite having outsold almost every other country artists' albums by 1.5 million at least. I think this is anything but mediocre, in fact, I think this is one of the strongest songs on the charts right now. This song shows real emotion from Luke, and is about a much more relatable topic than Carrie's current hit. Don't blame Luke for blocking Carrie's shot at #1, blame her label. But don't act like nobody wants to hear this song, it's Luke Freakin' Bryan.

I like to think most on this board are Luke Bryan fans, but even more importantly I like to think that most on this board are supporters of quality music. "I See You" has grown on me some but its far from my favorite single of his. When Luke puts out material like "Do I", "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" and "Roller Coaster", you can find a ton of support for Luke here. But when it's material like "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" or "That's My Kind Of Night" then you'll find plenty of criticism - which to me is 100% fair and justified since this forum has many here who state logical reasons for why they think those songs are below standard.
The chart dominance by his songs are something I don't even bother getting worked up over since that's what happens if you're the biggest thing going in any genre - as in your songs fly up in no time. Tim's songs were that way in the 90's. Kenny's songs were that way in the mid 2000's. And now Luke's singles are that way currently. Most here aren't against Luke, but rather against what they believe is inadequate material which is perfectly okay since this is after all a discussion board.
Any songs attempting to block a Carrie song will always have some negative feedback on here since she's a very popular artist that spans different genres of fans so getting worked up over a Carrie song getting potentially blocked is another thing that happens on a regular basis that would just be too common over the past few years to get upset over. If a song peaks at #2 or #3, it's not the end of the world. Fans are still going to enjoy it and it will still be remembered for years to come.

This is not being pushed at all. I mean, sure, the Capitol radio promotion team is at work, but there is no sort of big push going on here. This one is gaining so much simply because of how white hot Luke is...stations are just naturally converting this into top 5 and top 3 rotation across the board.

This is a huge hit for Luke Bryan. He will best Tim McGraw and get six top two hits from Crash My Party (five #1s and one #2). McGraw's Everywhere CD yielded four #1s and two #2s.

Once I See You hits #1, I will be able to move Luke Bryan from #60 to #50 on the list of those artists with the most #1s. The top 50 on that list will be exclusive to those with at least 11 chart topping hits.
