Hmm..this is a solid pop song and might score them their first Top 10 radio hit. My issue with it is that it does nothing to establish an identity - that is crucial, especially for a group, no less a girl group. Are they Demi-lite pop with this song? Or pop with urban stylings with something like Boss? Don't they they've found a sound or an identity as a group yet, and that will hurt their album / long-term success. Since when do they have to do the same type of pop with every release? I swear America would be super confused if the Sugababes were to be massive back in the 2000s since all their songs are very distinct. Maybe that's why they never made it...

They don't need the same type of song, but they need to be consistent in their artistry.

I think we can expect big things out of them when they establish their sound. But in the mean time they need a hit to get things rolling and this is doing nicely. I know it's too much to hope for, but I want them to be the US's Girls Aloud really badly.

Originally this album was going to be very urban leaning from lyrics to producers. Album was actually DONE. But after "boss" radio reception they went back in and recorded about 8 more records so the album isn't the same album it once was.

Well...Sledgehammer happens to be #1 on ratethemusic =] PROOF - gyazo.com/753ecf18c287cba7fb7541ec84538119I can't believe this song is very popular on RTM with a 4.09 rating out of 5 so far and of the 85% that are familiar with this song only 10% are burned out on it! That's very good news in my book!

Girls Aloud could have been the biggest thing in dance music here in the US, it's such a shame none of their material saw the light of day. Even Cheryl doesn't want to break into America with her massive success / the X Factor debacle. I like these girls.

So I checked out Z100's "What Song" feature and it's because of the interactive 9 at 9 countdown they do and this was...#2 last night! Uptown Funk got the #1 last night, However it fell to #6 tonight! So we might see these girls at #1 tonight! The thought of this being the most requested song of the week on Z100, the station that influences the other stations to play a certain song on the radio!
EDIT- #2 AGAIN! I'll edit this again as soon as the #1 song is revealed but yeah this song is #2 for the 2nd night in a row! At least it got top 2 the ENTIRE week! =]
EDIT- Jealous by Nick Jonas got it!

This song is really, really good. However, It might not make it to #1 because of the girls group stigma

Let's all pray this gets a 2nd wind! I mean it's #1 on RTM, Why aren't they playing this more? Isn't Rate the Music a fan-voting system? Fifth Harmony has a passionate social fanbase, so it always does well in those things. In any event, it would be weird (but I guess not totally implausible) for this to die NOW. It just recently got picked up by Z100 and KIIS on the pop side, and PLJ is now on board with it at Hot AC. Plus, with the album out in a few weeks, you'd think Epic would be working overtime to get this song moving at radio.

I really, really, can't get into these girls, and I love girl groups.
I watched them on the X Factor and didn't get it. My problem with them is that they all clearly want to be solo stars. During performances, it looks like they are fighting for attention.
That, and the fact that they really don't sing in harmony all that often is unsettling.
The second one of them gets a chance at a solo career, they are taking it, and leaving the other girls in the dust.

Ugh at today's update. Is this done? I don't want it to be done. It needs to smash. :'( At least the album comes out (finally) next week though so if they need to move on, it'll be a good time for it.

The album isn't a top40 love fest so option wise I'm guessing they should go with "Thus is how we roll" next

I thought this would do better. The seem way more popular than their proper success. And it's a pity that this fail to go higher because the new song doesn't seem that pop friendly
