Borchetta goes the whole hog. "Just As I Am" has also been pulled from Spotify. The only track that remains is "Bottoms Up" with 18.7M streams.

Yesterday, it was my first on Spotify and was taken aback at how much music is "missing" and on the other hand at how many emerging artists there are. I did not read that far back (09/11/14). Really sorry about that (and for ignoring your post); and for "double" posting.

I feel like Amen has gotten off to a slower start than I expected. I guess the time of year, being a 3rd single and the tempo have a strong play in its taking its time to take off. I know it's only a month old but I was expecting Brantley to be close to or inside the top 40, not barely inside the top 50. I do think Amen will be a hit for Brantley, I just wanted to point out that I'm surprised by the slower start

I'm surprised this is off to such a slow start as well for a Brantley Gilbert song. It'd be a shame if this wasn't a big hit since it's absolutely the best song he's ever sent to radio and it's honestly just a fantastic song. I heard this on the radio today for the first (maybe second) time and was reminded of how great this one is; I would love to see this start to really take off in the new year.

This will definitely take off. There were just a lot of songs hitting the charts last month, and this one came right on the heels of a fresh batch of singles from the A-listers. I have no doubt that this will be a big hit. I'm predicting a pretty easy #1 here, actually.

Like jhomes87, I firmly expect it to be a big hit for Brantley. It'd be a shock if the song was anything but that, honestly.

So is this DOA? It doesn't seem to be moving at all or has it not really been pushed? I has been on Top 50 for 31(!) days, but the holiday/NY's freeze is over. Very surprised at this.

This chart run has really surprised me so far because I consider Brantley to be a borderline A lister, especially after having one of the top selling albums last year. I know the whole month of December kind of back it up a bit, but still, at this point in his career I would expect this song to be taking off a lot quicker.

I don't like this song, but I am shocked how slow this is rising. There are so many other songs that can be singles too, so even though I don't like this song, I want it to do well so the others can be released ("17 Again," "Lights Of My Hometown," and "That Was Us").

I'm with you on this as I don't like this song and yet also surprised by its slow climb, especially now that we've pretty much thawed out from the holiday airplay freeze. This song just isn't connecting with me the way I feel like Brantley is wanting me to...I've tried giving this multiple listens and I like it less and less each time. I'm also just not sure how this single fits in with the current state of country radio (for better or worse)...I can't quite remember the last soldier type of song we had out on there on radio that was a major hit besides the influx of songs after 9/11 (the last one that come's to my mind is Toby's "American Soldier" in 2004). This could well be a very slow climb for Brantley and we might see this one struggle even to break top 20. It's still very early in its chart run though, so time will only tell.

It's not just a soldier song though, as the second first is about battling with cancer. The first verse is about a soldier, but the theme is more about dealing with death than it is "pro-soldiers" in my opinion. "I Drive Your Truck" was very similar, as the song was about a fallen Army vet, but the theme was more about coping with loss. And that's what surprises me, because I Drive Your Truck peaked very quickly on the charts (even with Curb), but this song is looking like it could need 35 weeks or so before it peaks.

^How'd I forget "I Drive Your Truck"...that was only a year or so ago. Just like you stated though I usually attribute that song more to about dealing with loss in general however the song subtly hints about it being a vet (dog tags hanging in the truck and a go army shirt).

I guess I'm in the minority in that I'm not too surprised by this one's slow start. I mean, sure, I would expect a Brantley Gilbert single (no matter what the song is) to be easily inside the top 40 (if not top 30) after 9 weeks on the chart. But I just look around at the rest of the chart and that's why I'm not surprised.
I think Brantley's slow start has more to do with the marketplace conditions than anything else. We've had so many big artists releasing music over the last 1-3 months, and every time a new song comes out, there's a little less of the airplay "pie" for artists like Brantley. His album sales would normally point to him being very popular--and he definitely has a big fan-base--but he just hasn't proven quite as popular with radio programmers. I don't think it's that they don't like him, but rather that they have a lot of other music that they are trying to play.
For example, I think the consensus among programmers is that they need to try to fit in some songs like Kristian Bush's "Trailer Hitch", Eric Paslay's "She Don't Love You", and Josh Turner's "Lay Low", to name a few, even though those artists may not have had much momentum prior to those releases. And, as I mentioned above, we've had so many high-profile releases going back into October...new singles from Toby Keith (fading at radio, but "Toby Keith" = name recognition), Sam Hunt, Billy Currington, Garth Brooks (similar to Toby in that, even though his song is struggling, it's still a Garth Brooks single), Little Big Town, Dustin Lynch, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert, Reba...and now we've got the latest 'wave' of releases from the likes of ZBB, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, plus newer artists like Maddie & Tae, Kip Moore, and Craig Wayne Boyd. So when you apply context to the situation, I think it's easy to see why some artists like Brantley are moving very slowly right now.
I think January through March is the hardest time of the year on the charts, when a lot of artists who wouldn't normally struggle do, in fact, have a hard time, and we see a lot of promising releases get 'purged' because they more or less get lost in the shuffle. However, with all of that said, I'm still pretty confident that this will take off and be a pretty big hit for Brantley in the end.

They need a tear-jerker music video to save this song.
I think Brantley's problem is his poor enunciation when singing. I could never get into this song, even though on paper the lyrics are quite good. He needs something visual like a tear-jerker music video to help convey the message of the song. Then the song will take off and become a big hit.

This is a fantastic song, but I don't care for the vocals at all.
Shame, because I'd likely love this if it were from (almost) any other artist.

I can see why some don't like his vocals, and I do wish he'd annunciate his words a little better at times, but I really appreciate how unpolished his vocals sound at times. He has a real grit to his voice that tends to suit the subject matter of his songs quite well. It sounds to me like his voice comes out more natural, and sounds less like it's been tampered with in the studio much.

I have no problem with his vocals on this at all, and I normally think his voice sucks based on his past single offerings, lmao. But here he actually sounds pretty damn good. Not sure how he pulled it off, but he did on a great song, so I'm not complaining about this fluke... unless it flops, because then radio has truly failed us and we'll probably just get more dreck like "Small Town Throwdown" in the future if this isn't the smash it oughta be. Still hopeful that this will take off because it sounds like a hit to me, Brantley sells pretty well and has a solid track record at radio, and his label backing makes me more optimistic about it's chances. If they could get "More Than Miles" to trudge up the charts long past its expiration date, I imagine they should be able to easily make that happen with this, even if it's a slower climb. Also, jhomes87 seems confident in it's prospects, and that always helps re-assure me, lol. ;)

Also, jhomes87 seems confident in it's prospects, and that always helps re-assure me, lol. ;) Way to put me on the spot! ;) I'm actually starting to get more worried about this now. I know, I know, only 4 days ago I was pretty optimistic--and I still have some optimism--but it's waning with each passing day. OHOAA has been completely flat this week on Mediabase, and now it's about to wrap up its 10th chart week on Billboard...and we continue to see a flood of new releases, all of which are threatening to bury tunes like this one as well as those from Justin Moore, The Swon Brothers, Dustin Lynch, and Chase Rice, among others. There's still time for this one to take off, but it really needs to catch on soon, because it's only going to get battered worse in the coming weeks by the influx of big new releases (Reba, Miranda, Tim, Keith/Eric, Brad, and possibly some 'momentum' artists like Mickey Guyton, Frankie Ballard, and Maddie & Tae).

I think Brantley's problem is his poor enunciation when singing. Fixed that for ya! Seriously though , I wish I could get past his vocals , cause this is the type of song I WANT to get behind . But man, his voice is just atrocious to me.

What's even further proof to me that the single choice was BLOWN with the second one (Small Town Throwdown) is that Frankie Ballard's third single just raced past this third single. That's pretty sad when you compare the CD sales for the two artists on their current albums.
It seems like right NOW at this very moment, anyone who just last released a "bro" song is having difficulty with their new release. Justin Moore with "Lettin' the Night Roll" and "This Kind of Town"...Chase Rice with "Ready Set Roll" and "Gonna Wanna Tonight"...Dustin Lynch with "Where It's At" and "Hell of a Night"...The Swon Brothers with "Later On" and "Pray For You"...Rascal Flatts (!!) with "Payback" and "Riot." (Exceptions would be Cole Swindell who squeaked his second single in before this shift and Sam Hunt who is heating up faster than Luke Bryan rollin' on 35s.)
More evidence for my theory that bro- and pop- country songs will be short lived as will be their respective artists if they try to push them too hard.

It would be very interesting to see how much momentum a 4th single would be from Brantley if this song were to flop. Lights of my Hometown and 17 Again sounded like can't miss hits when the CD came out and "Bottoms Up" was still a HUGE hit. It seems that "Small Town Throwdown" really took some of the momentum out of Brantley's sails. Sure it cracked the top 10, but it never seemed to garner much interest or sales. This still was one of the best selling country albums last year, so I'd have to think that his singles will stick a little better than they are looking now. But man, I just keep hoping to see a good week for this song, but it just has not happened yet.

"My Babys Guns and Roses" is another song that just screams #1. This is a great song, but yeah, for an album full of potential radio smashes, this one was a surprising choice.

I feel it was a good gamble though. This is not something, subject wise, that's on radio at all right now. I honestly love this song and applaud Brantley for not doing what everyone else is. I agree that MBG&R will be a massive hit for him if released, but I think knowing you've got a couple surefire hits makes a gamble a bit safer to do.

Well, this is finally starting to show a bit of a spark here, as it's up almost 300k in the last 5 days on MB. Brantley had an ugly week on BB last week, sliding down 4 spots from 43-47 and losing his bullet in the process, but now he's got a triple-digit bullet on MB (+109).
Just looking at how the 2/7 Billboard chart might look, I think there's a chance that Brantley could get to the top 40, although he needs a few things to go his way. He gets an automatic +4 from recurrents (Tim, Brad, Band Perry, and Mont Gentry will all leave), and it'll be +5 if David Nail also drops off. He should re-pass Justin Moore as well, since Justin was only 0.010 million ahead of Brantley on the 1/31 chart, and Brantley has easily out-gained Justin so far this week on MB.
So that would move Brantley up to #41, and if he re-passes Reba (probably 50-50 chance there, as Reba's audience has been completely flat this week), that could potentially get him to #40. Dustin Lynch is also in range. Of course there are a few other things to consider..."Raise 'Em Up" is obviously going to go up much faster than this one, and it might be able to sneak past Brantley already on the 2/7 BB chart. And if RaeLynn manages to re-enter, that would bump everybody down a spot.
But the good news is that this one is at least doing a little better at the moment.

Great video. I loved it. I hope this can start to actually take off soon, because this song is fantastic. Watching that video just now for the first time brought me to tears, though I don't think it was necessarily the video, since the song alone has done that a couple times on the radio already. It also gave me goosebumps on my arms, and that's always a sign of a great song.

Yeah it's a very effective video, but I just have one question: are those brass knuckles on the microphone? I've never really seen that before, not sure if it's a common thing or just a new Brantley thing.
On another note, I recently saw the movie American Sniper (very good movie), and I couldn't help but think what a missed opportunity it was for this song. I don't know how deals are made between songs or movies, but this song would have been an excellent choice for the trailers or some type of tie-in to the movie.

I don't mind Brantley's voice. Yes it's very raspy but I think that makes his voice more interesting. I think how he portrays himself is what turns people away from him. I think this is one of his best songs to date.
