Well Sam and ZBB basically had the same update today (Sam lost 0.087k in audience while ZBB lost 165k in audience, with just a 2 spin difference). So "Homegrown" easily takes the MB #1 (no surprise), and that leaves just Monday's update for Billboard. I'm actually leaning towards ZBB gunning for the Billboard #1 as well, as they have kept their updates very leveled and steady this week. If they are, it'll be interesting to see if MCA tries a late push for #1 tomorrow or lay's low and attempts to hold for next week's #1 on both charts. If ZBB doesn't concede that will be their best bet (next week) as I think Sam won't get to #1 if ZBB keeps their foot on the pedal today.
This is very unique to have two huge hits like these peak at the same exact time, and should be interesting to see this shake out over the next 7-8 days.

MB 2 1 SAM HUNT Take Your Time 8178 8035 143 63.398 BB Country No.1 Sam Hunt Take Your Time +711 Thompson Square Trans Am Will he hold on to these positions until Sunday? I would say yes. Today's update tells us a lot. ZBB was obviously not going to get more than 3 weeks at #1; "Homegrown" is down 650k in this morning's udpate. Meanwhile Dierks lost about 100k and Sam gained 200k. Early odds from me - I give Sam a 99% chance to finish the week at #1 on both charts. He won't gain much, because he doesn't have much room to grow, but today's update proves that he shouldn't have any trouble finishing at #1. Dierks will follow after him, and then it'll probably be Keith/Eric, unless Lee Brice can somehow hang on long enough.

Yeah Sam will no doubt be #1 on both charts this weekend. I think Capitol is just going to lay back and let MCA have this week and gear up to take over on the 26th and 27th for "Say You Do". Lee is still in this picture as well, but I think Dierks should easily take at least the Billboard #1 on the 27th.

Wednesday's update does nothing to hurt Hunt's chances -- he's got a big lead on MB and he'll easily score the #1 on Billboard unless something goes crazy wrong over the weekend. Dierks isn't doing anything to make it close. Urban/Church come into this week with a 2.5 mill audience deficit to Lee Brice, on Billboard. I think the duet will pass Lee -- if not on next Monday's chart then on the next one. It's still possible for Lee to get to #1 but the daily numbers don't suggest he will be able to hold off REU for long. In fact, the first two days' numbers look like Brice is peaking now. But I know better than to rely on a couple of days' worth of numbers. In any case, nobody's going to interfere with Hunt's trip to the top of the charts.

Really love his style, I think with the right promo it will do good on pop radio ( without rapping ).

I wouldn't call what Sam's doing on the verses of this rapping either, but maybe that's just me. ;) Also, I've heard that "House Party" is indeed next. Also, "Montevallo" is GOLD.

It's not an Urban rap delivery by any means but it's still a stretch to say what Sam Hunt does in this song is just talking. I dunno anyone who talks like that.

Well it looks as if "Take Your Time" has started to lose it's hold of it's ridiculous numbers as it has lost 835k in audience and 122 spins today. Sam though will easily be the #1 song on both charts this week as Deirks has cooled his jets and will allow MCA to have both charts this week. It's just a matter of time before a song starts losing spins and audience when it's putting up numbers such as 62-63 million in audience and 8100-8200 spins.

Stumbled upon this when researching some stuff on Jim Ed Brown. This unplugged and acoustic performance at the Opry is barely bearable; in fact it's so ragged that I don't have words to describe it! Clicking on video at your own risk!

Clicking on video at your own risk! I must be careful when voicing my distastes here because I hate to come off as a basher, but nearly every live performance from Sam has been horrible. The worst one I saw was "House Party" which was almost comical to watch. I can only imagine what those poor folks at the Opry were thinking, considering all the great performances they have seen over the years.

I'm no fan of Sam's but I also try not to voice my dislikes too often. He sells a ton of records and feedback from the TYT/CHR thread is all in his favour. The Opry performance was way too much; and I can only second everything you said!

I didn't think there was anything wrong with that performance, lol. I agree. He sounds great honestly. I get that it's not traditional sounding to begin with, and he is playing at the Grand Opry, but I have no fault with the way he performed it.

I don't get it, either. I think the Opry performance was fine? I've seen videos of him doing Kimmel, which were also fine and I thought he was great on the ACM's, so..... I'm confused lol.

Yeah, to me, it sounded great. Last December, I even forced members of my family to watch that exact performance and no one mentioned anything about it being a bad performance. Sounds great in fact, to me :)

I'll add to the pile -- I actually quite like Sam's Opry performance of "Take Your Time." He has the tendency to hide behind heavy reverb & a vocal backing track for his televised performances, so it was nice to actually hear him sing and emote here. He sounds on pitch to me for the entire song with only a couple of slight exceptions, and he stayed on rhythm for the most part, making credible adjustments to his phrasing whenever he missed a beat.

Managed to set it off... again! Quite a lot of feedback and opinions. I sense it as out of tune and out of rhythm; and my feeling is Sam's straining painfully. IDK. IMHO Thanks for commenting and your views. :)

^ Well the fact that he is rapping (I'm calling It that no matter what you say) in one of country's most historic venues already sets me off, but I don't think he sounded great anyway. I know that at this point I've stated a bunch of distaste and I'm trying to control it, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents here

This song may be done on Country Airplay, but not Country Songs. This could return to No. 1 if this really breaks at the other formats - Pop, AC, Hot AC - where this is charting now which would further prove what a farce Billboard's Country Songs chart is now. Any success "Take" has now should be attributed to Pop, not Country. Can you imagine how many weeks songs like "Amazed," "Before He Cheats" or "Need You Now" would have clocked at No.1 Country if Billboard used its current chart methodology back then?
