- Well on the weekend after our Trick or Treats, AT40 chooses to trick us by giving Taylor another week at #1 and given how "Shake It Off" has reclaimed the #1 spot on the official Mediabase chart, it's likely "Black Widow" will be screwed out of hitting #1.

In effect it's already done that by topping the Mediabase list, though it's not clear if that'll happen on AT40. If it does, then "Shake It Off" could be the first song to drop from the top and return to it since "Wide Awake", in August/September 2012. If not, then Iggy and Rita can commisserate with Selena Gomez ("Come and Get It") and Lorde ("Team") regarding songs that probably merited a week on top of the countdown that they didn't get.

Eleven extras in all this week, and they actually did a good job of placing them; no two extras are back to back. Maroon 5 have the biggest upward mover and are tied for the biggest dropper with Katy Perry, whose "This Is How We Do" is her first countdown hit to miss the top 10 in 5 1/2 years, and only the second ever.

I see "Love Me Harder" still didn't chart this week. This should have debuted last week.

some observations:
1. Latch ties Dark Horse for most weeks on the chart in 2014 (33)
2. We should be Katy Perry free next week!
3. "Find You" has the Two For One! I love that song, too bad it only charted for one week earlier this year.
4. Shake It Off keeps the top spot, and will probably due so for two more weeks.
5. "Blame" and "Animals" are two songs to watch to hit the top 3 by the end of 2014.
6. Ugh Anaconda still rising.
7. Probably not good news for "Wait On Me" not rising, it will probably fall off next week.
8. I do not care for Fergie's LA Love, but do seem to like her comeback counterpart Gwen Stefani's Baby Don't Lie.

I was just thinking of songs with her as lead artist, and only "Thinking of You" and "This Is How We Do" qualified. With features, there's also "Starstrukk", with 3Oh!3, which only got to the mid-20s.

Add Nickelback's "Far Away" and Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" to the list. Those two, along with "Come And Get It" and "Team" are, I believe, the only songs to date that have hit #1 on Mediabase and not AT40 during the Seacrest era. I'd say that next week will be the only shot "Black Widow" has at making it. If that doesn't happen, then it won't happen.

I can forgive last week. It would've been a toss-up (it was well below the top 50, sans recurrent rules). But there's no excuse for it to have not debuted this week.

I can't remember who told me, but if you listen on WKSC Chicago, they play all of the extras on AT40. I listen on the app on my phone. I love that station.

So now Tom's Diner is going thru my head again. Ryan said that Adele's new album
isn't coming out any time soon. Bye bye Bend Ova. With the time change, Y100 managed
to start the show at least 20 minutes early. How nice. I learned from today's show
that the ways to deal with a relationship problem are drinking, staying high, getting
amnesia, breaking free, and using maps. :)
