They waste a big oportunity not doing a proper push on Life of the party. Even if didn't become a big hit at least he would get his first song on the charts and it will be easier all the rest (of course what happened with Life of the party is not even comparable with Happy little pill which didn't was even released to radio).

Agreed - Life of the Party was pretty big, still played a lot here in Canada, and totally too bad Happy Little Pill didn't get released, that song is sooo good!

It was a big big mistake for both labels, Life of the party was very big on itunes, it was almost top 20 on billboard hot 100. Yes it was released to radio but without any push. It went almost top 50 but with a little effort the song could be at least a medium hit.
What the label did with Happy little pill is a tragedy, the song was good, Troye sold a lot of singles and eps without nothing more than his youtube promo.
It seems that youtube/vine and other internet celebrities are the new talent show winners, labels want to cash in their popularity without spending money on their projects (Life of the party didn't even got a proper video even when the song is top 10 in Canada)

Life of the Party was pretty good on first listen, but it burned out so quickly on me, glad to see he's trying again though! I'm a fan of him! :)

I bought the EP and it was really good. "Life of the Party" should have at least peaked in the lower 20s or upper teens where Austin/1D/5Sos usually end up.

Just bought it on ITunes. Very different from the stuff on his EP. It's a different side of his music. I like it!

He is goind to need the push from the label, a push they didn't do for Life of the party (and that effort would made this getting airplay so much easy).
Anyway, being popular (and internet singers are really using their popularity well) bust his sales (he is at 7 right now), but it's the label the one that needs to moves its ass an promote him in the right way, because radio is not going to jump for someone who started in a non traditional way (it happened with talent shows contestants all the time). Once the resistance is defeated and you have a couple of hits everything is easier

This is great! It's so catchy and I haven't gotten it out of my head today! Much better than LOTP!!! :)

It's alright. Much better than the snoozer that is "Life of the Party". I can see this doing okay if Republic gives it a little push. It'll scrape the Top 40 without one, but with one, I'd expect Top 20 (maybe like "She Looks So Perfect").

I thought Life of the Party was an engaging, if a bit slow ballad. I absolutely cannot stand this - the noises and vocals are so jarring and unappealing. And the sad thing is that it almost feels like he has a better chance of scoring with this than Party.

And the sad thing is that it almost feels like he has a better chance of scoring with this than Party. This is the typical teen song. Life of the party was different and interesting (not as interesting as Troye Sivan's Happy little pill, but interesting anyway). He wasn't doing what everybody expected him to do, this on the other hand this is generical. The label is going to give this the push they didn't gave to Life of the party, but in the best scenario i see this performing as an Austin Mahone song. Life of the party was massive on itunes, and they wasted a big oportunity and i think they will regret it, because if LOTP were even a medium hit (i agree that this is easier to sell to radio than LOTP) the effort would pay, because he could release whatever he wants. In this he could be replaced by any other teen singer or band and the result will be the same

He announced today on Live with Kellie and Michael that he will be opening for Taylor on the 1989 tour! Now that is a gig any new artist would love! Congrats to him!

I just don't get the hype for this kid.
When I was at Jingle Ball the crowd of little girls' screams overpowered his vocals and I couldn't hear him sing. Its sad because based on crowd screaming he was the most popular of the night...

I don't like it. It has that same grating effect on me that "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors does. "Life of the Party" wasn't too bad though. Very slow and I'm sure way too boring for many, but it had a nice enough melody.

I think this has a lot more radio potential than LOTP.

LOTP isn't going to do anything on pop. SB has major potential though.

Republic Playbook is reporting another switch back to "Something Big" as the single - it has a new radio mix as well. Album pre-orders currently exceed 50k.
