I think this is the first time that my favorite track on Taylor's album is being released as a single. I'm so excited to watch how this does.

Perfect choice. It's been a strong era overall even if I don't currently care for "Shake It Off" or "Bad Blood". If she releases anything else then I want "Out Of The Woods" or "New Romantics", but otherwise I'm indifferent.

It's the right choice. After Bad Blood, it was the album track that had retained the most buzz/enthusiasm since release day. I'm a huge fan of All You Had to Do Was Stay and How You Get the Girl, but as someone correctly said in another thread, they do feel more reflective of her Red era. They're *better*, but I'd ultimately put them in the same bucket as "22," which obviously wasn't the hit many hoped it would be. Out of the Woods *is* superb, but the fanfare died down immensely once the album came out (I'm pretty sure freaking Welcome to New York has held up better). As much as I like the song, it could be a case of us having our "Internet blinders" on (since it has more of "cool pop" vibe) - I don't know if it's as resonant with the casual Taylor Swift stan. Both New Romantics and Wonderland are excellent and radio-friendly, but they didn't generate NEARLY as much sales interest upon iTunes release as I'd imagine anyone expected. That's particularly true of "New Romantics," which I know many were pushing as the standout of the album. I still see them as possible 6th singles, but they weren't hot enough to leapfrog Wildest Dreams. This is really great insight :) This is my take on the other songs that could be singles: "All You Had To Do Was Stay", "I Wish You Would", and "How You Get The Girl" all sound like middle-of-the-road pop songs for me and while they're catchy and possible single material, it's not quite on par with the other songs on this album. And now that you mentioned it, it does remind me of "22" and her Red era in a sense. I LOVE "Out of the Woods" and I could be biased because of that. While I think this song could have been a good fifth single, I can see why they picked "Wildest Dreams" over OOTW. Maybe they wanted a slower song to show to the pop-listening public that showcases her writing abilities. All of her 1989 singles have been upbeat, and she has already proved she can craft well-written upbeat songs with "Blank Space". She has had "White Horse", "Back to December", and "Begin Again" on country radio, she's never had a song like that released to pop radio. "Everything Has Changed" was a hit, but Taylor's momentum had faded after "22" but this time Taylor's one of the biggest pop stars out there, and this time, people might pay more attention to her and her songwriting abilities. OOTW's critically acclaimed but I don't know how casual Taylor fans (is that what you meant by "casual Taylor stan" cause I have never heard of a "casual stan") or pop listeners in general feel about this song. Maybe it's too repetitive in the chorus? I would still like to see this song as a single though. "Wonderland" reminds me of IKYWT because of the dubstep influences, and while I think this song would make a good single, my concern is that the dubstep sound is dated. I can see this as a single though. "New Romantics" is also a good choice for a single, but the vocals and the overall feeling of the song is similar to "Bad Blood" IMO, so I never thought Taylor's team would follow up "Bad Blood" with "New Romantics". Would they make this the 6th single, if there is one at all? I don't think so, as this song has more of a spring/summer vibe. "Clean" could have also been a possible single choice, but after releasing a slower song with "Wildest Dreams", I don't see it happening. Out of the slower songs, "Wildest Dreams" definitely had more buzz, so it was natural for them to pick "Wildest Dreams" over "Clean".

YESSSSSSS!!! I honestly can't believe I've had every single one of my wishes for the singles on this album come true. I wanted this exact order for the first 5 singles basically since the first time I heard the album. Eras almost never play out exactly the way I think they should. So happy since it's my fav track and just in case this does only end up the standard 5 single era (though I'm sure OotW will still be 6th as it should).

This is pretty boring compared to the first 4 singles, I'm sure it will go top 10 though.

Overall, I like this. The production and melody are nice, but the lyrics are super corny. I still think "Style" is superior and if that didn't go number one on the Hot 100 this one will likely fall short as well. In fact, "Bad Blood" was lucky to slide in for that one week with the massive push it got. Anyway, wouldn't mind hearing this on the radio; it's so much more tolerable than "Bad ____" .

^ Uh..."Back to December" hit #12 here. OMG I can't believe I forgot about that... Thanks for pointing that out :) I think my point still stands though. I don't really think the average pop-listener would remember "Back to December" or "Everything Has Changed" . I feel like Big Machine and Taylor's team wants to show her more serious side because the songs she's remembered for are Love Story, YBWM, WANEGBT, IKYWT, SIO, BS, and BB (and perhaps TOMG and Our Song) and she's so much more than that. Or maybe this could be Taylor wanting this as the single and the label agreeing to her choice.

Great choice, she needed a change of pace. This single will also show/remind people how versatile the album is and how much it deserves to take home Album of the Year. "Out of the Woods" and "New Romantics" next please.

SWIFTIES! I have changed my bad blood gif to a cover of wildest dreams. (Unlikely the official one but it's darn good artwork for the song imo) (See my miniprofile for details!)
My first time listening to the song, I LOVED IT!. It's on repeat now lol. I hope it does well all-around the charts!!

Its a really nice song, but This Love is the best ballad on the album imo.

UUUUUGGGGHHHHH!
#JusticeForOutOfTheWoods
This is an amazing song. It will do great. Blah, blah, blah. I still wanted OOTW.
Also, if they needed a slower song next, which I don't disagree with, Clean is so much better.

So the question is, after this announcement, how long until radio starts playing it? Surely they aren't going to wait for an adds date.

I have yet to hear the actual song (I've only heard the acapella in mashups with Let It Go, Cool Kids, LMLYD, etc), so I have to listen to the original song. I love the vocals though, one of my favourites on the album, so I'm happy this was chosen! Hoping for OOTW next, even if it won't do anything

Thank god they didn't f**k this up with 'Out of the Woods'. The singles have been PERFECT. Got it so good :) OOTW was never a single I know that, I just meant that a lot of people talked about it as the "obvious" choice for fifth single. Never understood that.
