I think sometimes in cases of veteran acts it's more important to look at the longevity of the lead single instead of its peak to determine future success in the era. This, however BTTS spent it's 5 months on the chart and will probably enjoy a fair bit of recurrent play for most of 2015 R R Up this week WEEZER Back To The Shack 250 242 8 0.938 I think the case with Weezer is this. BTTS was heavily promoted by the new label in order to restore their relevance, and now that they had a big hit again to get people talking about them again as well as to bring a few new fans aboard, they'll go back to very light single promotion, which is enough for minor radio play for their singles due to their status as one of the biggest alternative rock bands over the last 20 years.

all the points made above are accurate, yes. But a major factor in single chart performance is the ability of the label promo teams working the tracks. its an X-factor. Some promo teams are exceptional - have great relationships with radio and can tough out a slow researching record and take it the distance. Other teams are not so skilled at that. That's why we see some labels consistently seizing #1 when in range and others not as able to, and overperforming with merely OK records. then we see some labels worlig tracks that sound like a home run, only to falter. Weezer headlined many major station radio show - that surely helped BTTS do reasonably well. Stations were going to bang the track to sell tix to their show. Da Vinci was reliant on the label working hard and closing stations - and they only got half the panel to play it.

This song is finished. Starting to fall off the Alternative charts with -32 spin drop on radio this week. A sad peak of #32 for such a fantastic song... I don't get it. This song should've gone Top20 at least. Is Weezer just considered washed-up has-beens? Maybe altguy is right & they just need better promotion.

There are 3-4 songs on the top half of the chart that have overstayed thier welcome, that are causing these injustices to better songs. "Crystalized" form Young The Giant is another of this week's casualties.
