HITS is now estimating that 1989 will end the year as the Best Selling Album of 2014: www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiBIG MACHINE VS. MOUSE MACHINE: Two fierce retail competitors will duke it out as we approach the 2014 finish line: Taylor Swift’s pop juggernaut 1989 and Disney’s frosty marvel of a soundtrack, Frozen. At this point we give the edge to Swift, who hits the 2 million mark this week and now looks destined for the 3.6-3.9m range by the time the New Year’s corks pop. She’s spawned two huge singles in a row and likely has several more hits in store. Meanwhile, Frozen, which has moved more than 3.2m this year, needs to sell at least 75k per week to beat Tay’s projected total—a tall order, particularly given that a songs-only version, also at retail, doesn’t count toward the retail tally of the soundtrack which appears on track for 3.4-3.6m overall. But don’t count out the Mouse House, which has a Frozen TV special airing on 12/25, a dizzying array of merch and more. Updates coming soon. (11/18p)

It's the soundtrack to a s**tty movie with s**tty songs slapped on it. No thanks. Do you mean the #1 animated movie of all time? And the best soundtrack since The Lion King? Come on! Even if you don't like it, those are the FACTS!

I honestly don't find this a valid argument, no matter what, personal opinion has nothing to do with chart talk. I don't think that anything "deserves" to be something when it comes to charts because the numbers speak for itself, whatever may be the biggest selling song deserves it... no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Your bitterness is so fucking petty and I'm embarrassed for you when I read posts like this from you. Take your asshat opinions elsewhere. Some of us enjoy the movie, the soundtrack, etc., as do millions of others, judging by its sales. If it sells more than any other album, then it deserves to be #1. Point blank. Period. Simple as that. Not even you or your bitter and unnecessarily- and crudely-expressed opinion can change that fact.

Still, if Frozen places second, I don't think people will mind, it sold a lot of albums!

Good thing Life Is A Waterfall wasn't around for West Side Story's utter domination of album sales in the 60s.

I guess my whole point is that i don't get everyones fascination with the movie or the songs, and it's constant domination is just baffling.

Not even you or your bitter and unnecessarily- and crudely-expressed opinion can change that fact. Boo fucking hoo. I disagreed with your opinion. That's exactly what this boils down to. If you hated it just as much as I do, you wouldn't be batting an eye, but because it goes against how you feel, you're out to get me. There's always a double standard regarding opinions that dissent from the norm. If a poster repeatedly stated, "I love Frozen!" and had the backing of others, no one's going to say a damn word. But if another person repeatedly says, "I hate Frozen!", they're dubbed "haters" with "asshat opinions". Stop hiding behind the strength in numbers and using it as a facade to combat what you deem "enemy combatants" just because they don't share the same opinion as you do. This is all elitist mentality, and it's so obvious when you call my opinions "unnecessary". Oh, I don't like Frozen, my opinion is unnecessary. The only necessary opinions are ones that support it! That's exactly what this is. And "bitterness"? I don't like it, and it's the best selling album of the year, of course there's bitterness. There's bitterness in all negative opinions, some just mask it behind fake layers of insincerity. I think it's obvious one voice cannot stand amongst the wave of millions and expect to win out, and it's this type of crap that makes the dissenters feel powerless and insignificant.

I do agree that you shouldn't be hated for your opinion, but IF you are repeatedly doing it, I can't defend you. (I say if because I haven't been paying much attention, so if you have please stop, but you you haven't then you shouldn't have been attacked)

Because if someone doesn't like something, then why would they be following the thread repeatedly in the first place. If someone likes it, it is understood because they are fans, so it makes sense that they gush about it when the time is appropriate. As long as they aren't trolling, I see nothing wrong with saying you like it/what you like about it multiple times as long as it isn't essentially the same post over and over again, you know?

And you see nothing wrong with repeatedly saying you like it,yet there is something wrong with repeatedly saying you hate it.

Yikes. Someone's bitter. Okay, so let's address this piece-by-piece, shall we? 1) I don't really care if you disagreed with my opinion. That was never part of my original post and that was your attempt at trying to build a defense against the fact that I called you out for being unnecessarily ignorant in the expression of your opinion. Next, 2) I don't really care for the term "haters," either, and I'm not sure why you brought it up because I most definitely didn't, either. Moving on, 3) I don't have to "hide behind numbers" because, as HITS just announced, those numbers are looking to come in 2nd to 1989. Not an elitist mentality when Frozen likely won't be dominant. Simply put (because things need to be put super-simply for your case or else all hell breaks loose if it isn't, apparently), all I said was that the expression of your opinion was obnoxious, rude, and ignorant because your disliking for Frozen was the reason for your logic behind it not deserving to be the #1 album of the year when, in fact, it does deserve it if it ends up being the top selling album of 2014. That's all I said, but I additionally called you out on the way you approached expressing your opinion. Continuing, 4) "The only necessary opinions are ones that support it?" Okay, that's an entirely different issue that opens up a whole new can of worms, which is exactly what you're trying to do with this whole post. I guess breaking this down piece-by-piece was stupid considering how multi-directional your off-the-hinges post has gone in, but I guess I'm in too deep now. 5) No shit there's bitterness in all negative opinions. Hence, "negative." Thank you, Sherlock. Once again, the expression of your bitterness from disliking the album & the movie, though, was your reasoning behind devaluing the success it may be achieving, which is completely ridiculous. If you'd like to continue this Ancient Roman rant of "one voice being masked by millions makes the dissenters feel powerless and insignificant," please feel free to PM me.

I think this whole problems stems from the fact that you took the whole "deserves to be #1" statement too literally. When I say it doesn't deserve to be #1, all I mean is that I disapprove of it being the best-selling album of the year. Obviously I have no impact on sales, so it should have been obvious. I never said you hide behind "numbers", I said you hide behind "strength in numbers", since you have the backing of the Frozen fans and I have the backing of the Frozen haters, and judging from evidence, there's more Frozen fans than haters.

Disney is going to be making billions off of this brand for years to come. I don't think they'll mind too much.
The home video alone has sold over 15 million copies in the U.S. this year.

I like how HITS writes "updates coming soon", as if it has some vital piece of information that will add more to the speculation.

Frozen will probably sell about 250k at least so 1989 needs to be closer 3.9m to get the throne. Unlikely but possible.
