Picked up 8 Active adds this week. Surprising.

This is pretty good, I prefer this to Being Beige. Definitely sounds like Billy Corgan singing.

In any other era, they wouldn't need to release dual singles with this as the lead one for Active...but apparently this is too heavy for Alt?

Was this actually sent for Active adds, or are stations actually playing it on their own?
In any case, I think this is better than "Being Beige" - and a better single choice for Alt. Yes, it's somewhat on the "heavy" side, but also very melodic and not too aggressive-sounding. If it was something more like "Tarantula", then maybe I could see them doing the multi-single strategy, but this should work fine for both Alt and Active. "Being Beige" should have been AAA-only if anything.

This is definitely more of an Active song when "Being Beige" might be too soft for the format. Maybe their goal is to send a single to both formats? That might not be the best decision as it hasn't worked great many times in the past. My guess is that Active stations are just playing it as a teaser and "Being Beige" isn't getting well-liked by listeners on there.

This is one of the song titles I said looked good for a single on the name alone, so I'm not surprised it's an actual; single now. This has more of that "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" ring to it. Very good chorus.

My Alt Station did a "Smash or Trash" for "Being Beige" and it very nearly got trashed if it wasn't for my tiebreaker call-in vote. (Lordeftones Saves The Day movie tie-in pending) so I don't think audience reaction to that song was fantastic.
Nonetheless, "One and All" is easily my favorite Pumpkins single since "The Everlasting Gaze" so I am behind pushing it 100%

This has picked up adds at KROQ and at least two other Alternative stations. So maybe the label is cutting their losses with "Being Beige" and giving this a push at both formats after all.

KROQ is in a world of their own. They still have "Habits" in there top 10 playlist. Not to mention that they allready heavily play The new Linkin Park and Tokio Hotel songs. Two songs that yet to debut in the Alt top 50. and to top it off; they added U2 "Song For Someone" instead of "Every Breaking Wave". I actually think Smashing Pumpkins "One And All" might just have better luck on Active?. I'm betting it's top 40 Active by next week.

This is better than "Beige Beige". I'm all about this replacing that on Alternative.

Up another stinking notch. WTF? Has Alt Rock forgotten that these guys are one of the reasons the genre; Alternative Rock was born? I'm all for the indie synth pop movemnet, but some of these original Alt Rockers are releasing some great music and are getting ass reamed for no reason.

It's funny but at the time Billy initially did away with the Smashing Pumpkins brand, people claimed the albums were too long - in fact, Adore and Machina fill up the space of entire CDs, and that was after an over 2 hour album. Then seemingly the worst received releases since have been the shortest ones - Zeitgeist, the Teargarden EPs, this new album. I kind of think this new record wasn't all that.

I like the new album quite a bit. It sounds a lot like their 90s sound. Too hard rocking for today's Alternative, but I don't understand why it wouldn't do well on Active. Then again, if you look at the band's chart history, they did amazing on Alternative in their big days and only good to decent on Active in comparison.

This new album is truly amazing. I still prefer "Oceania" which was a masterpiece but "Monuments" is definitely a testament that Billy Corgan can still write some damn good music. It's a good in between between the hard-rocking Siamese days and the synth-heavy Adore days with some emotional storytelling and heart-spilling tracks. The hooks are ear candy and the Pumpkins are still a strong force in the rock scene.

This got a few more adds, so hopefully Being Beige meets its end and this song rockets to the top 10, happy ever after.
Anyways, the album's pretty good. "Drum + Fife" would make a good second single, although I suppose they'll pull a 5FDP/Stone Sour and have the 2nd single be from part two of the double album. However, part two doesn't come out until Feb 2015, so maybe they can squeeze one in?

I was hoping "Being Beige" could crack the Top 40, but I hope a song from this album can chart on Alternative. I found it quite strong, on par with "Oceania" (although a lot more shorter).

I clearly need to check out the full cd...as this song is really good. Much prefer this to "Being Beige"

I definitely prefer this to "Beige Beige." Monuments of a Elegy debuted at #33 this week. That's a pretty sharp drop from Oceania.

That's a terrifying drop. What were the sales numbers? I'm guessing around 22-23k, since the #31 album sold 23,741. That's less than half of what Oceania debuted with (#4 with 54k), but also take into fact that this album was released in December. Had it been released at any other point than in the last two months, that'd be good for a Top 15-20 debut (heck, it could've even made Top 10 if it was a slow week). But yeah, The Smashing Pumpkins just keep getting less and less relevant, unfortunately. I don't expect much from Day for Night.

I think it has something to do with '90s acts, cause 311 and Bush's latest albums didn't post big numbers either. Maybe if their singles did better but they're collapsing on radio too. (Even though 311 and Bush had hits just a couple years ago.) Out with the old, in with the new, I guess?

I wasn't even aware of their new album. Not that I would have bought it, but there was virtually no promotion anywhere. It was a very quiet release. Was it even in any ad circulars? I don't remember seeing it in Target or Best Buy or Wal-Mart, but I could be wrong.

I think all the band did was announce (and remind people) that there were two albums (one being this) coming out. Maybe a couple of TV performances, but nothing major.

It's been over 20 years since Siamese Dream. Those groupies are soccer moms now.
