I think it was our pointing out the glacier-sized grammatical flaw that has sunk this one.
I hope Gary Overton is looking around at his staff wondering who the hell let this slip through!?

This release just felt so uneventful (compared to most releases, even those by newcomers), and the song is painfully average at best. There are literally dozens of new male artists competing for airplay, so I'm really not surprised that this one has been unable to cut through the pack. I can see it lingering around for a few more weeks, but I don't expect it to get much higher than where it currently is on Billboard. Which, I guess to Gary Overton, means that Josh Dorr will cease to exist!

Overton's been the official whipping boy here lately.
RCA's track record for breaking in new artists is borderline abysmal. They haven't gotten a debut single into the top 20 since 2008 ("You Can Let Go"). I agree this one will linger a few more weeks before petering out. With zero buzz surrounding Josh, I can't say where RCA stands with him long term.

Overton's been the official whipping boy here lately. Heh. I think his comment was fairly harmless, but I just couldn't resist! Love and Theft's first RCA single went to #1, but we all know what happened after that. It was their debut single for RCA but of course not their overall debut, as they had 2 hits for Lyric Street/Carolwood, including the top 10 hit "Runaway" (still my favorite from them).

ooookkkk. not to be "that person". but is anyone else bothered by the glaring grammatical error here? "save your breath, you're gonna need 'em." should it be "you're gonna need it"? Also, "NEED IT" would rhyme with "like they're a SECRET". How did this get past EVERYONE?! This ruins the song for me. I know. MR I only listed to this song a couple times when it was first released and to be honest, I never paid close attention to the lyrics (little embarrassing, I know), but I just did now and man I agree with you and everyone since...that sounds terrible. There has to be some strange reason why they decided to make the lyric that since its painfully improper. Usually the label sits down with the artist and producer to showcase studio material to them before the release it and I don't know how that line seemed fine to everyone. Yikes! I'm not going to say it quite "ruins" the song but it's now all I can think about when I hear this song. Same reason Thomas Rhett and Chase Rice both said "man ON the moon" instead of "in".

"Save Your Breath" is officially done. It lost 133 spins and falls nine spots to #67 on MB this week. It's peak on MB was #51.
They might try another single but with this quiet chart run and the fact that there's a shift in leadership at Sony, I don't think Josh Dorr will last long on their roster.
