I don't know why, maby it's because of the video that I think it's the biggest song ever, but it was a number one song in EVERY country back in 1999 and it's one of the only songs EVERYONE knows. I know that it's like the biggest in the USA. Out of different polls, Baby One More Time wins almost every poll. But I want to know what people think of it worldwide. So tell me more, please.

According to this Candle In The Wind 1997 accumulated the most points worldwide. Right behind it are I Will Always Love You and Everything I Do (I Do It All For You). So, definitely no.

Happy and Call Me Maybe were huge. Am I alone in thinking their successes were comparable to BOMT?

Happy and Call Me Maybe were huge. Am I alone in thinking their successes were comparable to BOMT? Yeah. BOMT will always be bigger than those two because they are tied to the beginning of the pop phenom that is Britney Spears. No matter what people think of her now or will think of her in decades to come, her name will be vastly more memorable and recognizable than Pharrell's or Carly Rae Jepsen's (hell, her schoolgirl outfit will probably top both their names), so that will aid in the lasting impression of BOMT. I don't even think "Happy" is in the same league as "Call Me Maybe" and "Baby One More Time" in terms of cultural impact. But in no way shape or form is Baby One More Time the most popular song ever worldwide.

Most popular song ever worldwide probably goes to a Christmas song, let's be real. Probably "White Christmas."
Edit: Or some novelty song like "Macarena" or "Y.M.C.A."

Yeah, the first song that came to mind in opposition of this was Imagine by John Lennon. Even then, that's probably not it.
This isn't something you can really measure though because even if you took a song that literally every person with a memory and hearing has heard and knows, there are probably others with it. Think Happy Birthday and, oh I don't know, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. So then how do you measure that?

I don't think so.
Aren't there a bunch of classics from the 70s/80s that could be up there. First one that comes to mind is Hotel California.

This list you're referring to is about most points from the united world chart (although it's a great list about how long tracks did last in their peak time), but it isn't about most popular of all time.

I don't know why, maby it's because of the video that I think it's the biggest song ever, Good for you. but it was a number one song in EVERY country back in 1999 and it's one of the only songs EVERYONE knows. Doesn't this mean that there are others? I know that it's like the biggest in the USA. Out of different polls, Baby One More Time wins almost every poll. I mean...when your fanbase consists of wealthy east coast gays with low self-esteem who can afford to spend entire days voting for you, that tends to happen. But I want to know what people think of it worldwide. www.expedia.com does cheap flights to multiple locations...wait for it...wait a bit more... WORLDWIDE!

It's just the way I see it, it's my opinion. Why do you got to be such a bitch about it? You don't have to read this thread. If you don't like it you can leave it.
