Roxette "The Look" #1, "Dressed For Success" #14, and "Listen To Your Heart" #1.
These three songs entered the Top 40 on the Hot 100 on these dates respectively, in 1989: 2/25, 6/24, and 9/9. They may have been released in the order Wikipedia says but these were the dates the songs entered the Top 40.

Blank Space #1 Style #6 Bad Blood #1 I dont think that counts. She's four singles in a row of top ten hits on the Hot 100, with all four of them reaching #1 on pop.

Rascal Flatts- Feels Like Today Feels Like Today (#9) Bless The Broken Road (#1) Fast Cars And Freedom (#1) Rascal Flatts- Me And My GangWhat Hurts The Most #1/top ten Pop peak Me And My Gang- #6 Life Is A Highway #7, but it arguably bigger than the entire rest of the era, so chart peak isn't really important in this case Christina Aguliera- Stripped Can't Hold Us Down following her two biggest hits (Beautiful/Fighter) I don't think you understood this thread, lol. Also "Life Is a Highway" peaked at #7 on the Hot 100 but the other two chart peaks you used were from the country charts, so I really have no idea what you were going for there... not to mention, "What Hurts the Most" is definitely bigger than "Life Is a Highway" anyway. A more fitting example for Rascal Flatts would be when "Bob That Head" peaked at #15, which was preceded by the #2 hit "Every Day" and followed by the #1 hit "Here."

Avril Lavigne - Let Go
Complicated (2) Sk8er Boy (10) I'm With You (4)
Compared to the other two, Sk8er Boy peaked lower and ended very low on the year end, most likely cause of it being a late 2002 release and causing a split in chart time. The other two are massive and two of her biggest hits, Complicated being on the decade chart and Im With You finishing at #18 in 2003's year end chart.
But fuck the chart success, all 3 of these are fantastic signature songs of Avril.

I see varied understanding of what huge and underperforming means...
I'll add:
Madonna flopping with Bad Girl after Deeper and deeper and before another top 20 with Rain (not huge but hit)
Shakira flopping with Don't Bother after her mega smash La Tortura (first Spanish song reaching top 25 in hot 100 in decades) and Hips don't lie
Enrique iglesias' #32 peaking Rhythm divine between his #1s Bailamos and Be with you
Lionel Richie sort of by having a #7 peak for Running with the night between the classics All night long and Hello
Bangles reached #29 with If she knew what she wants in between the #2 Manic Monday and the #1 Walk like an Egyptian

A bit early but...
Billy Currington - Summer Forever
Don't It (#1 Country) Drinkin' Town with a Football Problem (#30 Country) It Don't Hurt Like It Used To (#23 Country) --> This should go top 10 as it's selling quite well.
