The full soundtrack sound 27k last week the songs only version only sold 13k. What's causing the reversal here? Price?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but if this is the "Songs" version of the soundtrack, what was also on the original?
Amazing numbers for One Direction, Taylor and Pentatonix as well as now perennial favorite Michael.

^Everybody has the soundtrack. Buyers are looking for something different. This is too sudden though . Something seems off . The soundtrack has consistently stayed above the songs album and even increased this week back up the chart , it wouldn't just disappear like that

^Everybody has the soundtrack. Buyers are looking for something different. But if they already have the soundtrack, why would they rebuy the songs only version? The pricing for both versions is comparable.

Do little kids care about pricing when they are getting a new product from the Frozen franchise?
I don't know the answer.
I don't think it's that big of a deal. I'm over Frozen.

There is no guarantee that people buying the songs version also have a copy of the soundtrack. The songs version may be bringing in a new audience or it may be a nice companion to the sing-a-long version of the DVD
Obviously the songs and the movie will resonate with the Disney crowd for longer periods of time than they do with people here.
Kids don't care at all about pricing, until they reach and age where they are making their own purchases

*Cities 97 Sampler, Vol. 26 (KTCZ) 30-35k Wow, I guess it surprises me that they go through their whole order in one week (they had 40k copies made last year; 35k this year, according to their website). Cool cause and cool way for a radio station to build some social media buzz - wish more stations did that kind of thing.

I suppose there could be some who already have the Frozen soundtrack, who got the songs edition. Like those who own an act's studio albums and get a compilation when there's nothing new on it. At the same time, the songs edition is good for anyone who never got around to getting the soundtrack, that just want the songs.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6327491/nickelback-sixth-top-10-albumNickelback Aiming for Sixth Top 10 Album With 'Address'By Keith Caulfield | November 21, 2014 7:32 PM EST Rock band Nickelback is primed to collect is sixth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry forecasters suggest the group's new release, No Fixed Address, could sell around 65,000 copies in the week ending Nov. 23. The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Nov. 26. No Fixed Address is the act's first album for Republic Records after a long tenure with Roadrunner Records. The band's final studio release for Roadrunner was 2011's Here and Now, which debuted and peaked at No. 2. The quartet released a greatest hits for the label in 2013 titled The Best of Nickelback: Volume 1, which reached No. 21. The new album's lead single, "Edge of a Revolution," spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock airplay chart, marking the group's eighth No. 1. They first topped the list with their mainstream breakthrough hit "How You Remind Me," which led the tally for 13 weeks in 2001. Nickelback's new album might be one of only two new arrivals in next week's top 10. The other is One Direction's likely No. 1 album: Four. The vocal group's fourth album, released on SYCO/Columbia Records, should bow with over 400,000 copies sold. If it lands at No. 1, it will be the fourth consecutive chart-topper for the quintet, following their previous studio efforts Up All Night, Take Me Home (both hit No. 1 in 2012) and Midnight Memories (2013). Taylor Swift's current leader, 1989, will probably slip to No. 2 on the new chart, but could still sell over 200,000.

The last soundtrack didn't sell either, at least on the level of the first one. Consumers aren't jumping on these the way the Twilight fans gobbled up those first few releases. Well given the quality of the books and the films is pretty obvious twilight will buy anything related (and in fact the albums were way better than the books and the films which was not difficult anyway)

OMG PENTATONIX GET THAT 100K ALBUM!!! <333333333 It's really amazing how popular they are, other winners of the show didn't even crack top 100 on the albums chart but they did really well even without airplay. I would like if they release an original song to radio, it's been a lot of time since last only vocal song was on the pop chart (i only remember two, if i ever fall in love by Shai and Sukiyaki by 4 pm)

So Much In Love by All-4-One I think was only vocals and harmonies.
And I attribute the second and third Hunger Games soundtracks to not doing as well as the first due a lot to them not being as novel. The first one seemed more organic while the others seem more standardized pop soundtracks with filler and songs made to be hits. The first remains my favourite by far.

The first one seemed more organic while the others seem more standardized pop soundtracks with filler and songs made to be hits. The first remains my favourite by far. The second soundtrack was noticeably inferior to the first in terms of quality, and they also took a less commercial approach in promotion. Teens, who the films are marketed to, weren't going to run out and buy an album with a Coldplay song as the first single and a song from the at that time basically unknown Sia as the second single. Lorde is definitely in the teen wheelhouse, but Yellow Flicker Beat is much more alternative than most of her Lorde's other singles. If they had wanted to try to promote this one better, they should have released the Ariana Grande track, but that would conflict with her own single that is just taking off, so I'm sure her label wouldn't have wanted that.

It's Black Friday week and Target only has 2 albums in its circular: Eminem and Rock Ross.
Are labels interested in releasing albums anymore? Doesn't seem like it sometimes.
It's Nov. 23 and we still don't have a release date for Kendrick Lamar's new album. Nothing for Kayne West either...
I'm convinced we will get a surprise album release. I think Rihanna?

^But don't they need new albums to stream??!?! What do you guys think for Eminem?? 200k? 300k? 400k? If it were a straight Eminem release, I'd say 300. Since it's a Shady Records retrospective and the new tracks haven't been all that well received, I'm going to say 100.
