New Taylor Swift song being sent to Alt. It was co-written by Jack Antonoff of Bleachers which is probably the reason for this going for adds. I guess it's not too far off from some of the stuff on Alt but I'm still opposed to this.

The funny part is that this is actually pretty Alt friendly. Here in Canada if Dear Rouge sang it it'd be a huge hit.

I actually like this quite a bit. She's charted for me on every album at least once so far and has gone top 5 in each of the last 3. I really dislike the first two pop singles, so this is refreshing.

I'm very picky with Taylor Swift songs. She tends to have one on each album that I like. This is the one for me. I don't expect this to do anything on Alt, but hopefully this means a pop release will happen after "Blank Space".

Nothing quite going alternative as being the day's most palettable artist and selling millions of albums from that, regardless of the song.

I don't think it's a bad song from that performance, but yeah I think she's too mainstream in the Pop World to be sent to Alternative.

I've wanted to hear her on Alt since "Holy Ground." I'd like for this to be real, please.

I was gonna say, isn't the whole point of Alternative to be, well, Alternative to Pop music, especially people like Taylor Swift? It's a good song, but she needs to pick a genre. First she's country, then she's Pop, now she's going to promote a song to Alt? Ugh.

First she's country, then she's Pop, now she's going to promote a song to Alt? Ugh. "alternative to the mainstream". When it surfaced, the mainstream referred to 'mainstream' pop and 'mainstream' rock music, which were essentially the two real mainstream styles of music. This was pretty much abandoned as soon as the genre became a legit radio format, and a great deal of its core artists became 'mainstream' rock and 'mainstream' pop staples as well So yeah, that argument pretty much died in the 80s, but we all still use it for god knows why today

If this is going to Alternative just because Jack Antonoff co-wrote it, then P!nk's "Just Give Me a Reason" should've been a Top 10 because it featured Nate Ruess.

Lmfao yes.
From personal experience, I have a lot of friends who only listen to alt/indie music and they actually admit that 1989 is really fucking good. OOTW is a jam and a half so I approve. It's not like she's sending 'Shake It Off' to alt or something.
Alternative....

Nice for Taylor. Taylor is on all formats this era. "Shake It Off" was on Rhythmic radio. As a fan of Taylor,I'm all for this. :)

it's entertaining to think about, but until there's some confirmation I'm going to assume it's not actually going for adds. If it is though I can't see it doing much, especially with Taylor Swift's name attached. You can hear the Bleachers influence in the sound, but Alternative stations won't play a Taylor Swift song. Would be funny if it did something though, just to see the reactions.

Well Alternative stations played Lana Del Rey's "West Coast" so it's not like they have a policy to not add pop artists to their playlists.

At least Lana has a hipster fanbase and a darker undercurrent. This though?

There's absolutely nothing Lana Del Rey-ish about the Summertime Sadness remix that was a #2 CHR hit. Taylor Swift on the other hand, is at this point 100% pop lol.

Sometimes those adds sections make errors. I hear 0% Alternative anything in this song. No Indie nothing iether. I hear the same elements from Katy Perry's "Roar". That crappy "Blank Space" is alreeady top 10 on pop so this is probly the next mainstream Pop single from her new album. The only positive thing about this video is that Taylor looks incredibly hot.

I'll operate under the premise that this information is a mistake/joke so that my head doesn't explode. That being said, any alternative station that adds a Taylor F. Swift song should be permanently removed from the panel.

IF this actually goes for adds, they should wait until they send it to Pop/HAC.

All this would need is 125 spins on the Orlando station, 60+ on the Honolulu pop station in disguise, and like 1 more random add to hit the top 40
