My favorite song from the EP! I love the vocals and the lyrics are great. It shows a different, more mature side to them, which is good, but I'm not sure how well radio will take to it. Hoping for another big hit.

I'll echo Nick's thoughts - it's my favorite from a solid EP and their vocals sound best on this, I think, but I hope radio will take to it.

I adore this song. I never could fully get on board with GIACS, but this song is just an so pleasing to the ears. '"Cause you can learn to fly on the way down," is just such an awesome line.

This one is obviously the next most popular from their EP and probably the most logical follow-up to GIACS. Glad that it's a little more traditional.
Sierra is my favorite and Your Side of Town is pretty good but obviously too country for today's climate (especially as a risk from a duo trying to build momentum).
Hoping this one flies (excuse the pun) with radio, considering their treatment of females.

Beautiful song, and although I was hoping for After The Storm Blows Through I can get on board with this. Lyrics almost seem autobiographic.

Great song. This one really proves to me that their not a novelty act. I think "Your Side of Town" was a better choice for radio though, and I think this song is going to struggle early on. I think it could take 20 weeks or so before it reaches Top 30, but that's just a guess based of my radio observations. Quality song though, and I hope it does well.

I respectfully disagree that "Your Side of Town" was a better choice. I think that song might get forgotten and not really stand out. "Fly" is the most popular track on the EP and just sounds more important than both "Sierra" and "Your Side of Town". Maddie & Tae needed to make a statement that they are a real country act, and not just a one-note flash in the pan, and I think this is the right song to make that statement.

I like this but I was hoping for Sierra. I guess it's a nice change of pace for them.

Out of the songs on the EP, this is the best choice. It shows thay they have depth.
Personally I was hoping for one of their other songs from their YouTube videos that are, in my opinion, stronger lyrically.

I agree with you in principle, but I'm just worried this song will be too "Slow" for radio, and will be enough of an excuse for them not to play it, whereas "Your Side of Town" is more upbeat and Miranda Lambert stylish, and radio tends to be more willing to play upbeat songs from newer artists. But we will probably never know, and it will be "Fly" or nothing at this point!

This is a really good song and they sound amazing on it, though I felt like "Your Side of Town" would be a safer choice for radio. They went a little further on radio than many of the new female acts have lately by actually going all the way to #1 and doing so in a fairly quick manner, so it's possible their momentum will be higher with this release to overcome releasing something more risky. At any rate, I definitely wish it for it to go that way as I'd love to see them continue to crank out radio hits and become a very popular country act.

Radio just seems hesitant to play beautiful slow ballads from females, even after momentum (see Jana Kramer)....I sincerely hope this duo has enough buzz/acclaim that they will beat that trend. Kacey couldn't beat that trend either, although Merry Go Round didn't hit #1-these two seem to have more radio momentum so fingers crossed.

This one doesn't really fit their pre-established gimmick in that there's no attitude, sass or wit in the lyrics or delivery - but it'll be a much better barometer of where they are as stars. This is such a beautiful song, but there's nothing at all inherently radio friendly or catchy about it, so there are no shortcuts. If it succeeds, it's because people either see them as stars and/or really like how their voices sound.
Even though "Your Side of Town" and "Sierra" *fit* the duo that did Girl in a Country Song better, I'm kind of glad they didn't go in that direction. The attitude-rich song is a popular release format for country females, but it's not necessarily a successful template. The Band Perry's DONE is the last that, in my opinion, truly scored with that approach, and it was a song by a male-female group that had already been established as a big deal in the genre.
Something Bad couldn't hit #1 as an all-star combination (granted, it was a terrible song musically - but should that matter when you have the two biggest females--and two of the top five names in country--on one track?)

The duo is clearly trying to avoid the Gretchen Wilson - effect in NOT releasing another sassy uptempo song. The worst thing for them to do would be to become pigeonholed as the "sassy" girls. It's fine to have one every so often ("Sierra" would make for a great fall single in 2015) but not every song. The duo definitely is on the right path so the choice to release this is a good one, even if it ultimately doesn't hit the #1 slot. (I still don't think they're "saviors" for a genre that I don't think needed "saving" but that's another conversation)

I'm happy with this choice, though it would have been hard to go wrong with such a solid EP. Still, I think the songs on their EP aren't even their best songs, so I can't wait to hear what they come up with for their debut LP. I hope " Smoke," " Takin' It Easy" and " After the Storm Blows Through" are on it.

These two have to prove that they have depth? I wish I had $100 for each current country radio artist who's had a handful of singles without showing a hint of depth. You'd think that everyone on the chart was Alan Jackson or Vince Gill.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm all in favor of depth. It's country radio that doesn't give a hang about it.

Great song. I love the inflections in their vocals, the banjo and fiddle, the melody. IMO, the lyrics are actually the weakest part. The message is a good one but it just seems to skim the surface.
I do hope this can continue their momentum as I think their sound is refreshing.

Official cover art: With young artists, not a fan of not using their faces on the cover. Might just be a me thing, but I think this is a miss on BMLG

Who knows, maybe it'll help with country radio to not have to see that they're actually playing a female act. :o Plus, I think it's a really nifty cover. Very pretty.

bigfan101, I really don't think single art matters to radio as much as we'd like to believe. Radio is well aware of what they look like anyway, after their last single's success.

I really enjoyed this song and hope it catches fire quickly like their debut single. Here's to my last hope for country radio doing something right.

I love this. I have to admit, while I was fully behind "GiaCS" being a success because of the message/lyrics, their voices were a touch annoying on that song. They sound so much better here.
