American Authors #1 this year with "Best Day Of My Life"! Great song, IMO.

Good chart as always. Thanks for posting this as usual Hot AC! Being a November to November chart, none of those big summer songs made the top 10. It will be interesting to see how the AT40 year end Hot AC chart will compare with this one as they usually go from January to November. The biggest discrepancy will probably go to Imagine Dragons and "Demons", which will probably not even rank in the top 25 on the AT40 chart.

I wonder why "Believer" wasn't a big hit, I mean I didn't expect it to be a juggernaut like BDoML but it was not even a top 10, I think it peaked at #14 or #13.
Anyway, great chart :) I used to be an avid top 40 radio listener but since 2013 I'm listening the most to Hot AC radio stations, Idk why, I'm getting old, lol.

I started listening to more HOT AC music beginning in 2005. It seems that as years had gone by, HOT AC mirrors Top 40 music in a way. Both formats are my favorites.

Cool, top 40 and adult top 40 are my favorites as well. :) and man you're right the formats are way too similar now, Hot AC is not a shadow of what it was back in the 2000s decade where songs had this mega longevity. :o now the format is a little faster, no? 16 #1s in a year must be a record.

You're right that HOT AC is a bit faster than years past. What I like the most about it, is the core HOT AC artists with such great music like Nickelback, Matchbox Twenty, or Rob Thomas when he went solo, The Fray, Lifehouse, Sara Barilles, Natasha Bedingfield, and the good music I would hear from the past decade or so. I don't know if 16 #1s in a year is a record. I wouldn't be surprised.

I think this is one of the most fascinating things about the charts in 2014 - HAC in particular seems to be moving a bit faster, no matter how one measures it (when was the last time the 5/50 recurrent rule was in danger of having to be implemented?). Any theories as to why this is happening?

Any theories as to why this is happening? I think it's because HAC has moved closer to CHR, even in the adding new songs philosophy. For a song that debuted in 2014, the longest run on the chart has been 29 weeks! (Of course that is in part due to songs being removed after falling from the top 10.)

Way to go Ingrid Michaelson, Top 20! Fantastic song that should have done even BETTER, but this is great.
