This song is not quite done yet as it received 7 adds this week. I still can't for the life of me though figure out why this song is struggling so much. With not a huge number of out of the box smash hits over the last month and a half or so, you would think more stations would jump on a song like this! I guess not, but maybe it can still be a slow building hit over the long haul. It's got to happen soon though.

Americans hate Rita Ora. She has an amazing vocal range and texture...like Brenda Holloway, Lisa Fischer, etc. Gross! America hates that shit. Charlie XCX and Lorde...same person...both in a different annoying 'i'm too cool for school...like i'm so unique, but whatever i'm over it. i'm tired, i wanna sleep.' I am so tired of those two. I am so, so tired of them.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Rita has the personality of a potato. Boring.
Charli and Lorde look similar in a way, but their styles are very different. I love their styles personally! But, like every other sound out there, it's not for everyone.

I like this song. It took me awhile to listen to it because I thought this was just a remix of her last single "Break All The Rules" or whatever it's called. I really wasn't all that big of a fan of after seeing her on the AMA's so I didn't even give this a listen. LoL.

I like this song okay, but I thought "Break the Rules" was better. Both of them are preferable to "Boom Clap" though imo, which I never really got the love for. I thought she'd be doing better with the follow-ups after how successful that song was, but it looks like she hasn't maintained much interest with the GP or radio. She always came across rather anonymous to me as an artist though so I'm not entirely surprised though that she isn't catching on more.

Charlie's solo version is so much better. I Honestly I think teamups are useless if the artist is talented. Charlie doesn't need Rita to back her up for anything. Let alone sing a song. The only thing I like about the new vid is that Charlie looks gorgeous and since she's a Leo, she outshines poor Rita in the video as well.

The only thing I like about the new vid is that Charlie looks gorgeous and since she's a Leo, she outshines poor Rita in the video as well. I think Rita looks pretty damn good in the video... But, regardless, it comes down to the fact that this was the single used to launch the album in the UK, and Rita is a more bankable name there (plus had The Voice exposure timed up with the single release). She doesn't add much here, but Charli's momentum definitely vanished in conjunction with Break the Rules, so it wasn't like adding a sort-of recognizable name (and one associated with the same artist that helped turn Charli into a star) was going to kill this track in the US. Plus, thy're friends, and that was probably enough for someone like Charli. I completely agree that Charli has the TALENT to sell these songs on her own, but she definitely possesses some weakness from a branding standpoint (there's the anonymity that people discussed here, and there's also a degree of unfortunate unlikeability/distance that I feel like surrounds her). Granted, Rita suffers the same weakness -- talented, attractive, but doesn't click as a personality. "Boom Clap" was the least "Charli" song she's ever released, so while that proved she could land a smash on her own, it didn't necessarily turn her persona into gold. Plus, its sales never came close to matching its airplay/buzz, so it's possible her brand was a negative even on that track.

Wasn't "Boom Clap" only a hit because of "Fancy" and TFIOS? The buzz is all gone for her and she doesn't have a tie-in to another phenomenon of a movie in her favor. I don't think she's established herself as a serious hit-maker here.

On a sidenote I think I heard her song "Break The Rules" being used in a promo for a new tv show.

This now has only a bullet of 1. I'm not sure how longer this will go on or if this will fall out of the chart soon enough. Regardless, I'm honestly surprised this haven't reached the Top 40. It really does seem, now more than ever, that Break The Rules damaged all the momentum Charli had here in the statesides.
Shame because this song is absolutely ear candy.

If that's the case, then they need to try to push this again at a later date. One of the best songs never to hit the Top 40, at least in recent years.

Love the original, don't really care for the Rita mix. It doesn't bring anything new, and I was already so used to the album version. But I'm glad it became the next single, it was instantly my fave from SUCKER. I'm not expecting much impact though. :(

Woof! This is doing the Lead Balloon Trick!
Look, I understand Rita Ora is a singing potato - but i do not think all of the blame can be put on her. Charlie XCX and/or Lorde (who I still think might be the same guy) are dull and boring and just don't give a fuck. They are as dull as dishwater, at least Rita Ora rates as highly as a potato.

I love this song and it might be my favorite pop song of the year so far. "Break the Rules" tried way too hard and deserved to underperform, but it sucks that its poor performance seems to be stopping this song from doing well too.
