"Run Away With You" claims the #40 spot on MB this week.
It actually had a good week with an increase of 600k which is it's largest increase in audience on MB since it cracked the top 50.
I'm still taken back a bit by how smooth their success at radio has been since "Look At You" went for adds over a year ago. While "Look At You" was further ahead in audience at this point in it's chart run, "Run Away With You" hasn't been doing too shabby itself as it has earned Big & Rich their 12th top 40 single in their career, after just 9 weeks at radio.

I just previewed their album and my first reaction was "wow, they sure lost their edge." With that said, several of the songs are pretty good and I might even consider buying the album down the road, but it's a huge adjustment from the Big & Rich I knew and loved many years ago and I'm not quite there yet.

That's what I was kind of feeling too. Gravity is a very good album, but there's no "out there in a good way" songs, which I have been accustomed to with their first couple albums. There's no "Real World", "Kick My Ass", "Big Time", "Comin' To Your City" "Soul Shaker", "20 Margaritas'" on this album. So there definitely is an adjustment to be made, though it's light years better than Hillbilly Jedi. That being said, there's a few top notch songs like "Thank God For Pain", "That Kind Of Town" and "Lovin' Lately". I find that they still know how to do great ballads and serious songs ("Holy Water", "Live This Life", "I Pray For You", "Never Mind Me", "Faster Than Angels Fly"). I found "Run Away With You" to be on the generic side at first, but it's growing on me with every listen and I'm okay with it being the second single.

I pretty much love every song on that album. To me it's extremely reminiscent of the Horse of a Different Color and Comin' To Your City days. I didn't feel like there was much of an adjustment to make with that one, whereas there definitely was with Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace and again with Gravity.
Gravity is definitely solid though, and I'm sure I'd have nothing but good things to say about it if it wasn't such a departure from their first two albums.

The quality of songs IMO is much, much better on Horse Of A Different Color (one of my all-time favorite albums). That's not to say there weren't good songs on Hillbilly Jedi. I enjoyed the lead single and I really liked "Cheat On You" but more tracks were misses than hits, but to each their own. :)

Honestly, they're making more radio-ready music and as a touring act that wants to be around for a while, the longer they can continue to have Top 40/Top 20 hits the better. I don't think they'll hit Top 10 with this single (Top 20 seems better) but it's still quite a solid bit of work from New Revolution to even keep the duo relevant.

I'm pretty sure I heard "Look At You" more than anybody else did, lol (not complaining either because I love the song). KMLE had that one in high rotation for pretty much its entire chart run, and I'm pretty sure when it finally peaked they were playing it 70-90 times a week. Now they are the 2nd-leading spinner for "Run Away With You"--only KUPL in Portland is playing RAWY more times per week right now.
So I'm already hearing RAWY quite a bit on the radio as it's already in medium rotation on KMLE. I like the song well enough, although not as much as I liked "Look At You".

I guess that "In Phoenix, Arizona we drank way too much Corona" line in "Comin' To Your City" went a long way. :)

I've heard this several times on the radio here in the past week. I hadn't heard it in awhile since I voluntarily listened to it online, but I really like it more than I remembered. "Lovin' Lately" still blows it and the lead single out of the water, but I do enjoy this quite a bit. They're definitely releasing music to radio now that is far more listenable than they used to be, so for that I am grateful.

I'm actually pretty surprised at how well this song has been able to hang in there. "Run Away With You" is currently not even in the top 1500 of the iTunes all-genre chart, yet had a relatively short rise (9 weeks) to achieve top 40 status on MB. Since then it's had modest gains, averaging 60 spins and 463k in audience per week, with a gain of 120k in audience so far this week.
I'm still taken back by just how much momentum they have built up with radio. With how competitive the chart is and the fact they're promoted by New Revolution, the fact they're at #38 and having steady gains is pretty good, even with coming off a top 10 with 'Look At You." However, I think this some will start to have some trouble about now. It's sales have not improved since being released and the song itself isn't exactly "buzz worthy", so this should start having some hiccups soon. I think a solid top 25 peak is the max for "Run Away With You."
Though I questioned 'Look At You" from day 1, and to New Revolution's credit, they proved me wrong.

They finally discounted this one to 69 cents on iTunes, and as a result it's now at #154 on the iTunes country chart. That's still a really poor sales to airplay ratio, though.
I think this one will eventually make it into the top 30 but I don't see it going top 20. I know New Revolution did a great job with "Look At You", but I think it's going to prove too difficult this time around for them to get this one any higher than the mid 20's or so.

This one has really slowed down, to basically a halt. "Run Away With You" has actually lost about 130k in total audience on MB the past four weeks and has gained just 89 spins over that time frame. Then there's the sales, or lack there of I should say, as this song is currently not in the top 200 of the Country iTunes chart and not in the top 1500 of the all-genre chart. It also has garnered just 3 adds the past four weeks.
If this song does make the top 30 which is still good odds, that will be as high as it goes. New Revolution has done a great job so far for Kenny and John (fantastic job in fact), but trying to promote this song is really a losing cause as it's just not making any sort of impact airplay or sales wise. Shame too since this really grew on me over the weeks and is now one of my favorites on their Gravity album. I do feel "Lovin' Lately" should have been the second single though.

^ Agreed with all of this. I've been hearing this on the radio a bit lately and it's a good song, but I wouldn't mind seeing it go away soon much the same, because it's obviously done about all it's going to do since it's barely moved the needle at all (which I expected -- I'm sure "Lovin' Lately" would've had better sales than this one) and there's a lot of songs on the chart that need room to open up by songs throwing in the towel. On a semi-related note, maybe they can still release "Lovin' Lately" third? *fingers crossed*

"Run Away With You" is still chugging along as its up 130 spins and 600k in audience since Sunday (over 1.2 million the past two and a half weeks). Big & Rich were #33 on MB this past week and the highest I see them getting this Sunday is #32 as Keith already passed them, and Parmalee fell behind (one recurrent with "Sippin' on Fire"). The sales though...oh my. "Run Away With You" is head and shoulders the worst spins vs. sales ratio on the chart, as its not even in the top 1500 of the all-genre chart. The next closest song that's not in the top 1500 of the all-genre chart (Keith's song isn't available for digital sale yet) is Chase Bryant's "Little Bit Of You", with a third of the airplay.
I am curious to know exactly how much money Kenny and John have spent of their past two singles. I mean, the chart run for "Look At You" took forever and a day, while "Run Away With You" has been on the charts for well over 20 weeks and is just now on the cusp of the top 30, with poor sales. New Revolution has proven to be a very viable option for radio promotion with artists who have the resources to use them, and NR is definitely getting their job done here with "Run Away With You." This single has lack luster sales and zero buzz, yet you could argue has over achieved in airplay.
I still see this falling short of the top 20 as the sales have not been there and the song has had a very slow ride up the charts (outside of a little spike this week) -- its 24 weeks old on Billboard airplay. This song really grew on me over the past months and is one of my favorites out right now, but I can't help but shake my head seeing this song still hanging in there.

Reached the top 30 on MB. Hope it can push for a top 20, unlikely, but I'd still like to see it happen...this album still stands up as one of the best this year IMO.

It actually reached the MB top 30 this past Sunday (which means the Top 30 countdown shows will be spinning it this weekend). :) I'm skeptical this can reach the top 20 as well but a top 30 or 25 peak considering the poor sales and lack of any significant buzz is still a good accomplishment.

Love this song and enjoy hearing it on the radio and all, but the sales for this are just... bad. I wouldn't mind seeing this go away soonish and free up some chart space since it's really not moving the needle and is making a very slow climb.

Westwood One (W1MC) added "Run Away With You" this week, which have been responsible for 700k of its total audience over the past seven days and Big & Rich have increased nearly 1.0 million in audience already this chart week.

Just wondering, since they have the "Gravity" quadrilogy and went with this song and a new music video as the next single...is it possible they release anoter song that wasn't a part of the 4 parter? It'd be intersting (but not really out of character) for them to release the 4 part series and 3 of those songs not get released as singles, just that they left it made a coherent and interesting music video series.

It's certainly possible, although I'd be really surprised if we get two more singles from Gravity. The way "Run Away With You's" chart run is going, I wouldn't put it past them to end the era at two singles. However, since Kenny and John are independent, I predict one more single and I can almost guarantee that single will be either "Lovin' Lately" or "Brand New Buzz." I think they should just release the best, most radio-ready track left to radio and those two are the best in that regard. The 'Quadrilogy' was a nice piece put together but I don't think it will influence their next single selection, especially since they surprised most by picking "Run Away With You."

I think this music video can spark a little push into the Top 25 if the label can hold on for a little while like another oh I would say 8 weeks to sneak into the Top 25. Ok music video

I think this music video can spark a little push into the Top 25 if the label can hold on for a little while like another oh I would say 8 weeks to sneak into the Top 25. Ok music video Big & Rich don't really have a true label. They have their own label "Big & Rich Records", which is really just a name for themselves and they finance their own music. The singles are being promoted through the New Revolution promotion team. Anyway, Westwood One added this song this week, so they have greatly contributed "Run Away With You's" audience gains this week. This song is up 135 spins and nearly 2.0 million in audience, which is by far the most they have garnered since entering the MB top 50. Of course those extra audience impressions only affect their MB position. I think "Run Away With You" will make the top 25, but after that is questionable. Kenny and John have probably spent a massive amount of money with New Revolution on getting their past two singles heard and up the charts. Most artists don't have enough resources to afford that luxury, but it is nice to see Big & Rich still doing well on today's radio. As for the video, I kind of liked the approach they took by getting a real couple and taping their travel to a concert. It wasn't overly special but it put a smile on my face.

I enjoyed that music more than I expected to. I thought that it was very well done and the concept was a cute idea for the song as opposed to just hiring some actors to do those kinds of scenes.

"Run Away With You" got 8 adds this week, including WKLB in Boston and WUSN in Chicago -- two huge station adds. Kenny and John are also up another 53 spins and 340k in audience today, while being up over a million in audience this past week on MB. Westwood One came to their rescue (on MB) and now this one is starting to show some life. Top 20 is looking like a possibility now but "Run Away With You" is 27 weeks old, so New Revolution's work is not done yet but things are looking better for this song lately.

Yay! Another song that isn't selling well at all and still going to take 30+ weeks on the chart for a #23 peak. I like Big & Rich, but songs like these shouldn't get more than 20 weeks of chart life IMO.

Then for it to ''pack up it's bags and get gone get gone.'' Sorry I couldn't help it

"Run Away With You" picks up three spots to #24 this week on MB with over 2.2 million in audience gains. Both Westwood One and KSCS in Dallas have helped this song out immensely as both have combined for over 3.0 million of Big & Rich's total MB audience. The sales have been pretty bad throughout this chart run but at least there was a spike in those numbers a few weeks back to get it up to the 300's of the all-genre chart (not the total embarrassment of let's say "Trouble").
Anyway, Big & Rich got the music video out about a month ago and this song is 30 weeks old, so I would have to think that a top 20 peak is all this one can do since the sales have not been good enough to justify this one lasting for a top 10 peak -- that and the fact Kenny and John would need to nearly double their audience. This song is definitely a safe type of radio single, and doesn't cause a drastic reaction positively or negatively; so couple that with Big & Rich's willingness to pump money into promotion with New Revolution and you get this kind of long lasting, non-eventful chart run.
Big & Rich might not be a huge name at radio (to be quite honest, they really never have been) but they do have name recognition and their name recognition has certainly benefited them here, IMO. Their music, while not catering to the recent trend on country radio, still fits into what radio likes to spin. Both Kenny and John have been around long enough to know what works and doesn't work in this business and their switch to independent artists could not have gone any better. They partnered with Kobalt for distribution purposes and partnered with what is regarded as the best radio promotion company in Nashville (New Revolution) -- they didn't go the way of Neal McCoy (903), Tracy Lawrence (Rocky Comfort) or Clint Black (Equity) and try and start their own little label and build from the ground up -- this direction was far more smart, for them in their position at least. Most importantly, their music on their most recent album is both Big & Rich but also radio-friendly (as have been their first two single selections) and that is not by coincidence; Big & Rich still desire to be relevant at radio and they have made a financial commitment to do just that.
