I have been waiting for this to happen every since I first heard about mo when he was on Larry's country dinner with whisperin bill. He should be a star and hopefully will not just appeal to old school country fans like myself. As far as radio I think this is a good bet and hopefully this will get his name out and can release the better songs after this.

Wow, I really like this guy. After seeing the comments, I listened to "Just a Dog" and started crying at the first verse when he picked up the dog on the side of the road because that's how we got my little girl too and I knew how the song was gonna end so the whole thing was an emotional rollercoaster Great song though! And a great voice!

I stumbled upon this song when browsing new releases on itunes, and truthfully I wasn't expecting much because his name seemed a bit hillbilly to me, but I'm glad I hit play because this guy has one heck of a voice (and I love traditional-leaning country so much)! Very hopeful that this one is a hit.

Finally heard the studio version of this song, and I love it. A complete throwback to the slightly older days of county (by older I mean 10 years lol). This is solid, and I hope he can make a big splash with this song and his fantastic voice.

It's like I've been saying Mo Pitney is one of today's Country music saviors because of his pure talent and he can really sing, something that all singers should have in common.

Love this guys voice but this song and the others I heard on Youtube do Nothing for me. "Country" and the dog song are just blah to me. I will give the album a listen though because of his voice.

Curb has wisely pushed the adds date back 2 weeks for this song, to February 9 ( Source). The 26th suddenly got way too crowded, with new singles from Tim, Brad, Keith/Eric, and Maddie & Tae all going for adds that date. I'm honestly a little surprised that BMLG hasn't moved either Tim's new one or M&T's new one back to a week later (Feb. 2) since it wouldn't really matter much at all in the long run, and it would help them to spread things out a bit.

I am thrilled that they pushed this back. It shows a few things: 1) Curb Records "gets it" with Mo. It's rare to say this but I think they understand how big of a star he can be 2) Traditionalists everywhere are awaiting this "add date" and an oversaturated add date could downplay the significance of this release I read something today and truly believe he is a talent that could help transform radio. This article said he is similar to Randy Travis coming in during 1986. He will not revolutionize the industry like Randy but he has a chance to help swing the pendulum so traditional country has a spot on radio again. We are slowly seeing the gravitation, at times back to this sound. Mo is the final catapult over the wall. Just like I believe Jason Aldean's "Burnin it Down" was bro country "jumping the shark" I believe Mo's release will have the opposite response. He has a place on country radio today. It will be very telling how much. With that said he is a voice that needs to be heard.

I'm not nearly as optimistic about Curb being able to successfully break a brand new country act, particularly one this neo-traditional in sound, but I am glad that they made the correct choice in pushing the adds date back a few weeks. As I alluded to the other day with this post, the original date was becoming so full of A-list releases that I just couldn't help but feel that Mo would've been completely steamrolled over. If this single is going to succeed, it's gonna need all the help it can get. I'm not confident in Curb as a record label, but I'd love to see them finally do something right and be able to "make him happen" at country radio.

I too remain pessimistic just because Curb has lost relevance in country radio as the years have gone by. The only shocking thing about the push back of the add date was if it didn't get pushed back. Don't get me wrong, Curb is obviously trying to break Mo in the best they can and I'm sure have put more money into his launch than other recent signings of theirs because they know he could be a game changer with his traditional style, but it was a no-brainer to push that add date back. There's no use in watching your hard work dashed in the blink of an eye with heavy hitters going toe to toe on the same day.
I still need to see Curb have legitimate success with someone not named Lee Brice to predict that Mo's music will be a hit on country radio, even though I would want nothing more than to have him and Mickey be the two biggest newcomers of 2015.

"Country" is this week's spotlighted song in "Makin' Tracks" from the mid-week BCU. Here is the link, with the article on page 2: www.billboard.com/files/pdfs/bcu_mw_0122.pdfSome really good quotes from Mo and people involved in his career. One tidbit of info that I found particularly interesting: I was not aware of this. Oh man, what could have been... I am really glad that Mo has a major label deal, but I really wish he could have stayed with UMG; I think he would have had a much better chance at breaking through with UMG than he will at Curb. UMG >>>>> Curb. But hey, I'll just hope for the best.

Things are looking good for this one so far. It debuted at #57 on Billboard a week before the adds date, and its main competition next week is from new Big Machine signee Waterloo Revival. I actually think Mo will be most-added though. Other songs going for adds include Old Dominion's "Break Up With Him" and Blackberry Smoke's "Living In The Song". I think Old Dominion will get a decent amount of adds especially considering the fact that they haven't yet announced a major label partner, but I do think Mo will be most-added.
I've gotta give some credit to Curb here. I have seen ads for this one everywhere...in Aircheck, Billboard, AllAccess, YouTube, etc. And so many of their artists either don't chart at all or barely sneak into the top 60, and most of the time even when they do get songs into the top 60 it only happens a few weeks after those songs have gone for adds. American Young, Sweetwater Rain, Ashley Gearing, Morgan Frazier, Rachel Holder, Dylan Scott, Tim Dugger...heck, even veteran artists like Steve Holy and Rodney Atkins - they've all really struggled (many of their singles have missed the chart entirely) and none of them seem to have had the momentum/hype that there is for Mo Pitney right now.

I actually think Mo will be most-added though. I don't think that's big of a stretch to say; I think Mo will be too. A combination of not much competition next week and the fact, like you said, Curb has this song in nearly every publication I can think of. He really left an impression on everyone at radio during his tour and I'd be stunned if "Country" wasn't the most added song on Monday. Waterloo Revival's on BMLG (I think they'll get a good amount of adds as well), but Mo has more momentum going right now even with Curb as his label.

*Sigh*
"Country" only got 22 adds on impact date. Granted a good number of stations added this one early but 22 adds is a bit of a disappointment though anything associated with Curb in 2015 is not that surprising. I was optimistic in thinking this would be the #1 added song but to no alas. Anything above 30 would have been great but 22 is below what I was shooting for.

I don't think its too horrible for a new artist with a traditional sound. Hopefully it can keep picking up adds in the weeks to come and continue to climb.

22 adds is pretty good for this, imo. I wouldn't have expected him to get much more than that.

But for anyone who was wanting a hit, or at least a run at the top 30, 22 adds is a disappointment. Let's not confuse me being let down from 22 adds. The fact it's Curb and, well just listen to Mo's music lol - I shouldn't have expected too much more but really think it shows how far Curb has fallen with country radio. They are just an afterthought right now. Their breadwinner Lee Brice broke out when Curb was still at least on the map. Now they are a "has been" label, and it's been quite a while since they have had multiple hits at one time on the charts. Looking Mo's impact date numbers and knowing not expect too much from this single makes me grateful that Mickey is on Capitol Nashville.

I can relate. Seeing all the comments expecting this to be "most added" for the week got me excited too. Now its back to reality. Which is , this is a traditional country song & artist on a subpar label.

I don't think Curb was a 'has been label' at all. More like a label with a lack of direction for most of their artists. Not unlike WB or Sony were before regime changes. Curb just had one so I expect they'll eventually get artists back up on the charts and making hits. It just takes time to remind radio programmers they still exist outside of one or two acts.

Sure, perhaps they'll score a hit here or there from someone not named Lee Brice, but getting back to having 3, 4, even 5 singles at any given time on the chart like the 90's or mid 2000's is highly unlikely to happen, at least not for some time yet IMO. Radio knows they are there. Radio just has better things to do in their minds.

Mo, Ruthie and perhaps Dylan Scott are part of the approach.

The slow and steady approach is definitely the best course of action, especially with Mo and see where country radio's identity is at as we go along here. Dylan Scott had a weird and let's long run on the charts (lol) with "Makin' This Boy Go Crazy". But that sophomore single was atrocious and I still am flabbergasted Curb/Sidewalk went with "Mmm, Mmm, Mmm" at radio. "Lay It On Me" is probably a year too late to make a run at the top 40. I still am uncertain how Sidewalk fits in here - if Curb is satisfied with secondary chart runs and scrapping the top 50 or if they envision the Sidewalk imprint challenging for bigger things which is quite a mountain to climb for them if they are shooting that big.
