Lol, I finally took a glance at "Country's" leaders today (couldn't access them yesterday) and it appears that KKBQ in Houston has helped Mo out a ton over the past week. "Country" had its spin totals increased by 32 spins by KKBQ, which accounted for over 1.0 million in audience. That would put "Country" as the 11th most played song on their playlist over the past seven days, which is huge since KKBQ is one of the biggest stations in the country (#6 ranked).
Mo is looking good to crack the MB top 40 this week if he can continue to post moderate to steady gains. There will actually be four recurrents this Sunday evening ("A Guy Walks Into A Bar", "She Don't Love You", "Games", "Trouble") and Mo's song is currently at #43 on the rolling chart. The two songs "Country" has already passed so far this week are EYB and Jake Owen (lol @ "Real Life's" 8th day hangover). "Trouble' is falling fast, so that song will be long out of the way before the published chart even comes out.
It's only Wednesday, but it's looking promising for Curb to land their first top 40 single from someone not named Lee Brice since "Just Wanna Rock N' Roll" by Rodney Atkins in 2012.

Heard this on the radio last night and I couldn't turn the volume up fast enough! It was such a great surprise to finally hear this on the radio, and it wasn't in the middle of the night either (it was about 7:45). And it sounded so, so good. I really wish this would take off more, but I'm just glad that it's hanging in there and that it looks like it'll at least make the Top 40, which is no small feat in itself. <3

Yep, as sabre said...it's Friday now and looking like this one will be 38 or 39 after the recurrents on Sunday.
Most importantly, this gives "Country" its first ever countdown spins (right?) and it will be the first time many of the panel stations have played Country.
Oops, did I forget the quotes the second time?

I'm hoping Curb pushed this for a 40week run, I don't hope for those that often but I think they could potentially get this into the top 20 if they are willing to wait. All I know is that Top 40 is great and I'm hoping the album comes this year, I can't wait to hear it.

All I know is that Top 40 is great and I'm hoping the album comes this year, I can't wait to hear it. It was really Curb's plan all along (with others like EMI, Streamsound, Republic) to wait it out for the eventual house cleaning and it will finally come this Sunday. To answer @nickv1025's question, yes this will be the first time "Country" will receive countdown spins (which will be aired next weekend). Curb has pushed singles to extreme distances before ("Love Like Crazy"), so they certainly know how to work singles to radio over the long haul (the pushed "Love Is War" for nearly 30 weeks to a #42 peak on MB in early 2014). I will stress some caution though. As I mentioned before, this week's numbers are mainly due to KKBQ in Houston, as they have now accounted for over 1.2 million in audience over the past seven days, and for a non Westwood One station to give a song that hasn't even broken the top 40 yet that much audience, is pretty incredible. Plus this song isn't selling well, at all. Hopefully if this can stick around, the sales will improve but Curb's allure with radio has worn thin in recent years and I'm fearing that even if "Country" is doing good now, that it will hit another wall in the mid to high 30's. "Country" is up 70 spins and nearly 800k this week, with two updates left before the published MB chart, so this is definitely a time to at least bask in some sunshine if you're rooting for this song.

If I had to rank the newcomers in country music this year it would go Kelsea, Mickey, then Mo man there are so much new talent coming this year makes me happy. I doubt Mo gets Top 30 since it would take a good 2 months before he has a shot but Curb should be proud of themselves

Most of its spins are being allocated to their "On The Horizon" show, which is a little irritating since that show only airs on the weekends. It really sticks out on that show though compared to the other "finds" they play.

They started playing Chris Stapleton's "Traveller" during "On the Horizon" this weekend, so "Country" doesn't really sound *that* out of place. ;)

The Highway starts Mo's song out on that show because they aren't super confident putting it on their main playlist. If the song gets high enough and they get enough feedback, then they can move it to The Highway's regular lineup. BTW: It appears Mo Pitney will get some help in the MB adds department today as "Country" has 8 total adds as of 1:00 p.m. ET. :)

The 10 stations that added "Country" are now known:
KHKI (Cumulus) KPLX (Cumulus) KSJO (Cumulus) KWEN (Cox) WDRM (iHeartMedia) WFMS (Cumulus) WGNE (Renda Broadcasting) WIVK (Cumulus) WKDF (Cumulus) WKHX (Cumulus)
So 7 of the 10 were Cumulus and 1 was iHeartMedia. It's also worth noting that two of the Cumulus stations were KPLX in Dallas (5th ranked market) and WKHX in Atlanta (9th ranked market).

Great interview Mo did with CountryMusicRocks:
He mentioned (no surprise) that his debut album hinges on "Country" doing well enough and a top 30 position is when they will probably give it a release date. That's still a big if though, and I'm of course pulling for Mo and this single.

That's unfortunate that curb is waiting for top 30 to put out album. I understand it but it's frustrating. They can at least give us a 6 song EP, to include this and Clean Up on Aisle Five
Do yall ever think about all the good music we've never heard, just because singles didn't do well ? In recent memory i recall Chris Janson, James Wesley , Greg bates , Kip Moore, Trent Tomlinson , mickey guyton and probably countless others I'm missing. I actually take it personal. I want to hear this music. Is that weird of me ?

In recent memory i recall Chris Janson, James Wesley , Greg bates , Kip Moore, Trent Tomlinson , mickey guyton and probably countless others I'm missing. I actually take it personal. I want to hear this music. Is that weird of me ? That's how most labels operate though and its been like that for a long time. Sure every now and then you get the exceptions like Joel Crouse and Ray Scott's debut albums to name two, along with someone like Kacey who is a very unique artist who doesn't need a massive amount of airplay success to sell records, but waiting until a single is high enough helps maximize album sales and labels don't want to waste money and effort for little return. Top 30 for Mo seems like a good threshold to wait for if you're Curb. I mean it might be slightly optimistic, but that shows me Curb is sticking with "Country" for the long haul. Every situation is different though. Greg Bates didn't sell that well even with his debut song going top 5. Hind sight says Republic should have released the album but they have their two single policy and sometimes it comes back to bite them. James Wesley's situation was extremely unfortunate. I think top 20 is what Broken Bow wanted for "Real" and "Didn't I" but they just missed out. He did sell his record at his live shows but of course it never got an official release. The singles for Trent Tomlinson's second album did nothing at radio and didn't warrant a full album release. The fans who like "Country" are probably bigger album buyers than single buyers but I still think there's a big market for Mo's traditional style (they're just not listening to mainstream radio as much since they aren't what mainstream radio is gunning for these days). Curb is just doing what most labels do in waiting for a high enough airplay hit to release an album, so more people will be aware of Mo and his debut music. We all are frustrated by great artists never getting their music out there, but that's just the nature of the beast.

Just heard this the other day Mo has a voice thar reminds me of a young Keith Whitley. I think Mo has the potential to become the next big traditional country superstar if radio gives his songs a chance.

I like this. Pitney's voice is great and I like the way he uses the word 'country' in different contexts.

I've been hearing this quite a bit on the radio and I just love that. I really hope he can take this single to at least Top 30 and Curb can put out his album, which I'm sure I would love. <3

Billboard: "Making stupid decisions since the dawn of time." Seriously, Mo lost 11 spins and 165k in audience over the last 7 days on MB. And somehow that was enough to send the song recurrent, rather than giving it a grace week? I'm calling it right now: Mo will re-enter in a week or two.

Yeah, this one is clearly NOT done, even though Billboard sent it recurrent tonight. The only thing that Billboard will accomplish here is to piss off Curb Records, and make themselves look like idiots when they are inevitably forced to re-enter "Country" in a week or two. When Billboard's chart doesn't accurately reflect what's going on across the panel of radio stations, that's called "self-marginalization". They literally shot themselves in the foot here, because now Curb Records is highly likely to pay more attention to Country Aircheck/Mediabase and ignore Billboard altogether. Here's a nice ad from tonight's Country Aircheck Weekly: Yeah, Curb is clearly done promoting this one.

Yeah I think Curb is in it for the long haul with this one, I see top 20 in it's future honestly even if it takes 40 weeks. With Lee looking like he'll have a slow run with his current single there's no way Curb will let go of a song showing some signs of life. Billboard messed up on this one.
