Why the need to pit Brit & Iggs one against each other? The girls are collaborating, not competing, for Gods sake. I just hope Brittany brings it all out for this and Iggy murders her verses. I need a dirty twerking banger for my drunken nights

Britneys last era bore ZERO hits and the album tanked. Meanwhile, Iggy has become a chart commodity in the last year and her producers "The Invisible Men" worked on this song. If this isn't latching onto a hot new artist and their sound for a hit then I don't know what is... I'd argue that WB was a moderate hit but even if we were to go with your premise, that's only two singles. Two singles that don't do well won't hurt Britney in the grand scheme of things. Also, when Britney heard this track it was a Little Mix song that they wrote and chose not to use for their album. The producers may have also happened to have worked with Iggy but this song was intended to be a Little Mix song not an Iggy song. So if Britney is latching on an artist's sound, it would be Little Mix's sound not Iggy's and Little Mix certainly are not a hot commodity here. A flop era hurts anyone regardless of how many singles were released. Since she had trouble performing solo they're bringing in a feature. Common sense. And lol @ Britney latching onto Little Mix and not Iggy despite Iggy being the featured artist and Iggy's producers working on the song. Makes perfect sense..... Britney fans have a very, erm, unique sense of logic LOL.

You are championing this out of the gate new artist that has already fallen from public grace, yet trying to convince us all that someone with a 16+ year career and a proven track record with regards to hits (yes even after multiple flops, read the history books - it's all there) is acting out of desperation. There's only one desperate person anywhere near this thread and it's not Britney, or even Iggy. Can we stop the nonsense and get back to being excited about two powerful female artists collaborating to give us what is sure to be a hot track?

It may actually be very tiny). I feel like many people are just jumping on the let´s-hate-Iggy bandwagon, which they are well entitled to do, since I understand how Iggy can come off as grating and/or dishonest. So yeah, definitely, Iggy's role shoulnd't be overlooked, but it isn't the second coming of Jesus either. Let's not forget that, as much as you or me may like Iggy, at the end of the day Britney is a much bigger star, with years of hits under her belt and who has proved again and again she is a forced to be reckoned with.

For the record, nobody was trying to downplay Iggy's role. We haven't even heard the song yet, how could we? All that was said was that Iggy's reputation isn't too good at the moment. That, somehow, warranted people going in on Britney and talking about how many awards Iggy has even though none of that has anything to do with the point.
Now that we've cleared that up, let's talk about the producers. I know they worked on 'Fancy', but what else have they done? Anything notable?

Nowhere in my posts did I discredit Britney or her past though, so I don't understand why you all keep bringing it up as if fickle pop radio cares. Some were really doing the most shading Iggy left and right so clarification was needed on why this collaboration came about in the first place. Moving on~

Now that we've cleared that up, let's talk about the producers. I know they worked on 'Fancy', but what else have they done? Anything notable? The Invisible Men are a songwriting and production trio, recently named as one of Music Week's Top 50 Songwriters of 2011.They co-wrote DJ Fresh's UK no.1 smash Hot Right Now (featuring Rita Ora) and Conor Maynard's top 5 debut hits Can't Say No and Vegas Girl. Their catalogue includes Jessie J's hits Do It Like A Dude, LaserLight (feat. David Guetta), Who's Laughing Now and the Noisettes' Don't Upset The Rhythm and Never Forget You. They have recently completed the official remix of Coldplay's forthcoming single Princess of China (feat. Rihanna). The team are Jason Pebworth and George Astasio (formerly of the band Orson) and Jon Shave (former member of Xenomania).Orson sold over a million copies of their debut album, reaching no. 1 in both the UK singles and album charts, and received the Brit Award for Best Breakthrough Act 2007. As a member of Xenomania, Jon Shave contributed to a string of top 10 hit singles, including co-writing "The Show" for Girls Aloud. www.turnfirstartists.com/producers/the-invisible-men/

Wiki has a pretty comprehensive list of their work: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Invisible_MenWORK > (although they co-produced it with 1st Down who also did most of Iggy's Trapgold mixtape so the sound wasn't ALL them on that) I actually really like the songs they did with Conor Maynard too :kii:

'Work' and 'Do It Like a Dude' are the only two I've heard, but these guys sound really diverse. Not convinced this is going to be a 'Fancy' clone as was suggested-- especially not with Little Mix having written it. I have no idea what to expect of this now.

Jason Lipshutz is Billboard's resident Britney stan lol. But I agree with what hes saying, both artists could use the boost and positive press from this being a hit.

According to an insider at the iHeartRadio festival red carpet, Iggy said that the track is a proper duet, not just a feature. Apparently she's singing with Britney on the chorus, which if it sounds anything like that pop song she tried back in the day... Iggy also said it's the lead single from Britney's new album too, which I didn't think was an actual thing. Apparently it is. I can't.

''Pretty Girls' kind of already existed but we changed it a little bit more to fit in with Britney. I just did a verse on it. Then I didn't hear anything back. So I was calling 'are we not doing the song?' And they said she does want the song... ...but we don't know when her album will come out. Then I said "I'll take the song and put it on my album and she can feature on it. Then I got another call that said no wait, she is ready to put the song out. She is ready with an album! So it's gonna be her first single I had re-written it a little by then and made it more of a duet so it kind of worked out that it went through all this It worked out because now it's a true duet. It's not just me rapping one verse. It's really us together on the song. We both sing the hook together it's super cool and fun. I love that it's worked out this way because it's going to make for a cooler video." - from Iggy's interview with Extra last night: twitter.com/CandidlyCarlo/And with Access Hollywood: www.accesshollywood.com/iggy-azalea-talks-working-with-britney-spears-on-pretty-girls_video_2709337They're shooting the video NEXT WEEK! Iggy is co-directing it, and Britney contributed with ideas too. Very exciting!!

It looks like the single and video could be released simultaneously on May 5 then. Massive opening week sales, airplay, and streaming should lead to another #1 debut!

That's not a guarentee. They'll have top 10 on lock if it's good, but #1 debuts are harder to achieve. If they're smart, they'll leak it on the 4th to capitalize on the extra day of airplay and sales (not that it won't leak before then anyway). Both ladies don't have a lot going for them right now-- let's be real, Britney's momentum isn't where it could be.
Regardless, initial performance doesn't worry me at all. If this wants long term success, they'll need to play a smart marketing game. The fact that it's a duet means we can bury any hopes of live performances, or rather anything consistent. Getting both of them in the same place at the same time to do anything is going to be difficult, nevermind the fact that it's damn near impossible to get Britney to leave her house.
