Childish Gambino!!! <3 Literally loved every song on the rap list but the #1... His album is great! <3 Seems like "i" didn't click with everyone lol. I love every song on the rap list except for #5. Childish Gambino, J. Cole, and Kendrick I love the beat to "No Mediocre", but the rest is really take it or leave it. I felt like this year was a relatively quiet year in rap. If J. Cole released his album a little earlier, he probably would have had numerous nominations. Love rap 5-2 but for some reason "i" just never clicked with me. And Luke James! Another one who doesn't like "i". lol. Glad to see you know who Luke James is!! perfect lists! especially (and obviously) happy to see habits as your #1 pop song. Good to see Habits #1 on your pop songs list :) Dangerous! Thanks for the comments guys!!!

Thanks for the comments, H., Green Baron and Flip! And thanks for the likes from everyone else! I will post only two of the Best New Artist nominees (3 & 4) since I have been a little busy today, and I have to leave for work at 3 and don't get off till late tonight. The rest of the Best New Artist nominees, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year will be announced tomorrow. Tuesday will be Non-Album of the Year and some of the Album of the Year, with the Album of the Year being wrapped up (hopefully) by the end of the week. I start school Tuesday :( so I'm getting crunched on time between that and work. We'll see how this goes.

Best New Artist:{Last Year's Winner}twenty one pilots
#4 - Big Data
Big Data (Alan Wilkis) is a one-piece 'band' that centers on the paranoia that comes from the false security that the Internet provides us. Big Data's overall vision is to explore the relationship that has formed between humans and the Internet, and how the Internet has reshaped the way humans live. With genre-bending indie/electronic songs, Big Data provides a unique sound that is unlike any other from the music industry. With two smash singles on my chart, "Dangerous" (#10) and "The Business of Emotion" (#1 for 2 weeks), 2015 should shape up to be a great year for him, with his debut album, 2.0, due out in March, which could be a potential frontrunner for the Album of the Year for 2015 if the two singles off of the album so far are any indication.

Best New Artist:{Last Year's Winner}twenty one pilots #3 - Bel HeirBel Heir is an indie pop band hailing from Philadelphia. Bel Heir has existed for 6 years, with several other band members and names, before finally going public with their current lineup. The method they used to release their singles garnered the attention of music blogs around the world. They released their singles in an old-school format, dating back to the days when singles were released on vinyl with an A-Side and a B-Side. They released a new single every month from 2013-2014 over a 12-month span, with two songs included on the single. While the format was nice, the music had to obviously match. Through the soothing and airy vocals of lead singer Patrick Mencel, and the chilling production through each song, they formed a unique craft in their music that made a different sound in the now-fairly generic indie pop field. Their single "Kiss the Devil" was remixed by a popular producer, Just A Gent, and gained them much more recognition and helped grow their fanbase. The remix got all the way up to #2 on my chart, and their compilation mixtape of all their singles, 12 // 24, is one of the nominees for Non-Album of the Year. With their recent signing to RCA Records, these guys can make a big splash on Alternative radio over 2015. This band is one to look out for.

Best New Artist:{Last Year's Winner}twenty one pilots #2 - Bad SunsBad Suns is a four-piece indie pop/rock band coming from the city of angels. Yet another unique Alternative band in the Best New Artist race, Bad Suns' sound has a retro vibe mixed with a newer sound. Unique productions on songs like "Salt" and "Dancing On Quicksand", and catchy songs like "Cardiac Arrest" and "Rearview", Bad Suns differ themselves from the indie crowd, but still fit in perfectly. Frontman Christo Bowman's vocals are graceful, yet deep, and they carry into the band's unique sounds. They had only one song that made my chart, "Salt" (#11; still charting), but have seen success on my On the Rise chart, where "Cardiac Arrest" and "Dancing On Quicksand" charted. Their debut album, Language & Perspective, is one of the frontrunners in this year's Album of the Year race, and had I included their EP Transpose, that would have been another frontrunner in the Non-Album of the Year category. These guys are another to look out for in 2015.

Best New Artist:{Last Year's Winner}twenty one pilots #1 - Tove LoTove Lo is a singer/songwriter coming all the way from Sweden, ready to take the world by storm. Through heartfelt lyrics and booming productions, Tove Lo is looking to make herself a force to be reckoned with in the pop industry. Her voice is silky smooth, matching up perfectly with her top-notch lyrics and intriguing productions. She was one of the most successful artists on my chart this year, bringing in a total of 4 songs to the chart. "Habits" was the biggest hit of the year on my chart, leading the chart for 13 consecutive weeks. She also saw "Not On Drugs" (#14), "Thousand Miles" (#8), and "Talking Body" (#16) chart, but 2015 should be an even more successful year for her, where she should surpass the three peaks set with those songs (more than likely the next 3 singles). Her debut EP, Truth Serum, is a nominee for Non-Album of the Year, and is one of my favorite pop releases in recent memory. Her debut album, Queen of the Clouds, is also a frontrunner in the Album of the Year category. She scores a nomination in each of the big 4 categories (Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best New Artist), and has won the Pop Artist/Song of the Year categories, along with a nomination in the Soundtrack Song of the Year category. She brings in a total of 8 nominations this year, the most of any artist. Tove Lo is one to look out for 2015 and many more years to come.

Artist of the Year:{Last Year's Winner}OneRepublic #4 - The UsedThe Used take fourth place in this year's Artist of the Year award. This year has been their most successful year yet in the awards. They were nominated in 2012 for Album of the Year for Vulnerable, which placed in 13th place that year (last place, though did better in time than most of the albums above it). Coming hot off their most recent album, Imaginary Enemy, The Used is seeing major success on my chart for the first time since 2007's Lies for the Liars. They have seen 3 songs chart on the main chart through this album, "Cry" (#3), "Revolution" (#9), and "A Song to Stifle Imperial Progression (A Work In Progress)" (#16), along with nearly the whole album appearing on the On the Rise chart. Imaginary Enemy is one of the frontrunners for Album of the Year this year. They also saw two of their songs ("Cry" & "Revolution") get nominated for Rock Song of the Year, along with a Rock Artist of the Year nomination (2nd place). With a total of 5 nominations, The Used rank with the third highest for total nominations.

Artist of the Year:{Last Year's Winner}OneRepublic #3 - Tove LoDespite having the most nominations in this year's awards, Tove Lo finds herself in third place this year for Artist of the Year. Queen of the Clouds and Truth Serum were major successes and garnered a lot of hits for my chart, seeing 4 songs chart (2 were found on both), along with a lot of others on the On the Rise chart, but Tove Lo still came up shorthanded. Since "Habits" lasted so long atop my chart, it was hard to move onto another song. Since both "Talking Body" and "Not On Drugs" were flip-flopped as the second single, neither were able to commit to the chart for the long-term yet. She obviously dominated with "Habits" the first three quarters of the year, but suffered in the 4th. She could probably find herself in the same position with this award next year since she will have a few singles throughout the year. She should see an even better 2015.

Artist of the Year:{Last Year's Winner}OneRepublic #2 - OneRepublicOneRepublic pulls off the 2nd spot in this year's Artist of the Year award. They won the award fairly easily last year, but had a tougher competition this year. Last year, they saw Native finish in 2nd place for Album of the Year (nearly #1), with "If I Lose Myself" and "Counting Stars" being nominated for Song of the Year. "Counting Stars" is the most successful song on my chart ever, leading the chart for a whopping 30 consecutive weeks. It started its reign when it was sent to HAC radio, then just kept rising through its Pop push months later. Only few other songs have had as much success as that song (but not better). "Counting Stars" was the first #1 of the year, leading for 4 more weeks, on top of the 26 it lead in 2013. The follow-up single "Love Runs Out" hit #2, but couldn't pass Tove Lo's "Habits". The current single, "I Lived", has had some struggle so far, as it has only been able to pop up on the On the Rise chart every now and then, but not sustaining its momentum. They also get a big push due to the fact I saw them live on the Native Tour for the second year straight. They weren't as good as the first time (it felt rushed since it was supposed to thunderstorm), but they were still great. That's one of the main reasons they were able to take the #2 spot. Potentially with a new album in store for this year, they should see themselves in a healthy spot in 2015, probably able to redo their 2013 success.

Artist of the Year:{Last Year's Winner}OneRepublic #1 - NickelbackNickelback takes home their first Artist of the Year trophy. Despite being absent from the music scene until mid-August, Nickelback went above and beyond everyone else this year on my chart. Gaining 4 multi-week #1's, and having 8 of the 11 songs from No Fixed Address chart, they swept away the competition. They spent 16 total weeks atop the chart in 2014, all coming from the second half of the year (only two songs not by them hit #1 in that span), and they have the first #1 of 2015 already. "Edge of a Revolution" started off leading the way for 7 weeks, before handing the torch to "What Are You Waiting For?" for 5 nonconsecutive weeks. "Million Miles an Hour" (3 weeks so far) and "She Keeps Me Up" (2 weeks so far) also have taken the throne. Being 3 for 3 on their singles going to #1, they hope to capitalize even further along. Their latest album, No Fixed Address, is a frontrunner for Album of the Year, and they have other nominations/wins so far. Going along with the Artist of the Year and Album of the Year nominations, they also racked up a win for both Rock Artist of the Year and Rock Song of the Year, along with two Song of the Year nominations. While 2014 was a big year for them despite being here for only half of the year, 2015 could be even bigger with a full year under their belt.

The awards will be continued tomorrow. I do have some time to do Song of the Year, but only for one/two place(s) since I have to leave for work in an hour, but I'd rather do them all at once. There's a strong possibility that I don't have school tomorrow since it is supposed to be -14°F tomorrow (we got this off last year), so tomorrow could be a very busy day. I'd do all of the Song of the Year and Non-Album of the Year, and start on the Album of the Year which should take a few days. This will probably be the plan no matter what anyways.
Have a good day everyone and see you tomorrow!

Song of the Year:{Last Year's Winner:}"Counting Stars" by: OneRepublic
#5 - LuvBug f/ Talay Riley - "Resonance"Although it wasn't officially released until October 2014, "Resonance" debuted on my chart back in June 2014. During its first run, "Resonance" debuted at #16, but couldn't pass that and fell off the chart 3 weeks later. It started gaining momentum back and re-entered the chart in mid-July and it did not look back. It quickly rose to the Top 5, and stayed there for months before finally hitting the top of the chart, for its lone week atop, at the end of October. It hasn't left the Top 10 since July 31, 2014, and is still making gains (currently at #9). LuvBug is looking to have another successful song in 2015 as their new single, "Revive (Say Something)", is red-hot at the moment and is looking to debut very soon. Talay Riley on the other hand is probably going to be a main stay on my chart for as long as he releases music. He is one of the most successful artists on my chart, gaining 3 #1's and many other hits, and will hope to see another successful year in 2015. He hasn't released much solo music since he was dropped by Jive UK back in 2012, but he has found his way to still get on to the chart. "Resonance" should hold the test of time, and will probably become a timeless song to me.
