People are just sharing their opinions. I have my own reservations about the title but if it proves to be integral and not silly, that's great. It's all we have to go on at the moment so it's something people are commenting on. At the end of the day, the song itself is more important than the title but we don't have the actual song yet.
Having said that, I can't wait. I'm ready for it to leak. Her Christmas music was nice but I need something for the other eleven months.

My hopes aren't high for this but I'd love to be slayed by Kelly.

I know this isn't a cover...but really two songs with this title?

Any predictions on when the single cover will drop? My guess is either tonight or tomorrow.

Although I don't mean I want it to sound like Roar, I hope it's a different kind of anthem from her, how Roar was for Katy. What I don't want is for it to be another rehash of SUBG/Suck/People Like Us sound.

Selected as a Hot Pick by SiriusXM The Pulse (that's an HAC station) PD Jim Ryan on AllAccess, with comment: "HUGE! This is an automatic!" Just adding to the hype, heh. ETA: Selected by Chris Taylor, OM of T40 station WHBQ in Memphis, TN as well.

Apparent description from an intern at KIIS (who heard from the PD), posted to MuuMuse: Like Boom Clap + Roar. Both fresh-sounding songs with big, catchy melodies...exactly what I want from this. (Though hopefully with better lyrics.)

I am so ready. I hope this is one of her instant smashes, ala MLWSWY.

Since we're ranking her lead singles... 1. "My Life Would Suck Without You" - So bouncy, nostalgic, and smile-inducing. Triumphantly suggests "Kelly's back, bitches." 2. "Never Again" - Amazing energy. You can feel her anguish. My go-to jam when I'm pissed. 3. "Underneath The Tree" - I hate Christmas music, but I love this. Already a modern Christmas classic. 4. "Miss Independent" - Great song that she slays live. The original production is dated as hell though. 5. "Breakaway" - Her best lead lyrically and most relatable. I've just heard it too many damn times ( Princess Diaries 2 trailer, anyone?). 6. "Catch My Breath" - Either a total hit or miss for me depending on my mood. It just doesn't work as well as her other singles, and I've never figured out why. 7. "Mr. Know It All" - Meh. Should've been "Let Me Down." #stillbitter I must be the only one who doesn't like MLWSWY. I still to this day do not give it any attention. I love all her other lead singles though. To stay on topic. This needs to smash! I want to see her on TV again and hear her on radio everywhere I go just like with WDKY.

I hope it is literally only tempo or "type" that is similar to Roar and absolutely nothing else.

Ranking her first singles as:
1. "My Life Would Suck Without You" 2. "Underneath the Tree" 3. "Catch My Breath" 4. "Mr. Know It All" 5. "Breakaway" 6. "Miss Independent" 7. "Never Again"
I don't think the fact that it's like "Roar" necessarily is a bad thing. I mean, "Brave" is superior to "Roar" despite sounding similar.

Loved "Roar" (burned on it now) and "Boom Clap" has recently grown on me a lot. With the backing of some powerful vocals by Kelly, I'm sure it'll be another hit for her!

No two eras are the same but if the descriptions are accurate, it's interesting that they are going with a more anthemic (?) song as the first release unlike the last two eras where they were the second singles. I really like the early descriptions so my hopes are very high.
I also like the single cover.
As for lead single rankings, here are mine...
1 Breakaway 2 Catch My Breath 3 Miss Independent 4 Never Again 5 My Life Would Suck 6 Mr Know It All

I feel let down by the single cover. I DO really like it, I was just expecting to see Kelly on it. I hope it's not an indication of things to come for the era. Kelly's beautiful any way you slice it, big, small or in between. She's definitely transcended the point where that should matter anyway. Between the shoulder up WIR video and this though...I just hope we get to SEE her soon!

I am looking forward to this. I like the boom+roar description. So probably a mid-tempo, but with some hard beats and high note anthemic vocals mixed in. Perhaps what MKIA should have been?

I hope it is literally only tempo or "type" that is similar to Roar and absolutely nothing else. Yeah, the Roar comparison is a bit disconcerting to me since I've always found that as easily one of the most generic and forgettable mainstream pop songs of this decade so far. But I'm not putting much stock in that. It's one person, and the comparison could merely mean it sounds like it was destined to be a hit like Roar. I can't see Kelly doing anything quite that vanilla. Also they compared it to Boom Clap too, and it's not like that sounds very much like Roar. So if it sounds like a cross between those we might get something that still sounds pretty different from them individually.

1. Underneath the Tree 1. Catch My Breath (can't decide, so tie) 3. Breakaway 4. Miss Independent 5. My Life Would Suck Without You 6. Me. Know It All 7. Never Again
All strong, but I much prefer Never Again in its piano or remix forms than the original.

1. Breakaway (this song doesn't even try to be something amazing or perfect, and that's exactly why it is. Just naturally a fantastic pop song.) 2. My Life Would Suck Without You (The burn rate is still non-existent for me all these years later) 3. Catch My Breath (even though I hated it for about a month after it first came out, lol. Can't believe how much it grew on me.) 4. Mr. Know It All (underrated, and has a bit of that laid back Breakaway vibe I love.) 5. Miss Independent (hasn't aged as well as some of hers.) 6. Underneath the Tree (good, but still too much of an AIWFCIY clone for my taste.) 7. Never Again (let's hope not.)
