I don't know why pop fans hate MKIA. I jammed HARD to that song for a long time and actually still do. I put it on a R&B party mix a few years ago and people that don't even listen to her bopped to that song. It's a favorite of mine.

PLU was dated as hell, so I definitely don't want anything like that if only for the fact that it will bomb. Aside from 'Suck' though, her lead singles almost always end up being just the primer for the true smash on the album.

I will believe til the day that I die that if PLU had been released as the 1st single off of the Greatest Hits, or better yet right after Stronger, it would've been SOOOOOO huge! I'm hoping for an awesome perfect 1st single ala MLWSWY. It appears they may be mirroring AIEW's release pattern.

The thing, though, is that "People Like Us" was not dated when the greatest hits compilation first came out. Radio just randomly took a huge turn in sound right before it became a single.

Mr. Know It All felt very uneventful at the time of its release and while it has grown on me, it's no where close to one of her best singles. I hope it's more in the vain of Catch My Breath if anything.

I think had PLU been released first, with an epic video, it could have done some damage. But everything about it's release was uneventful

Anyone think this is still happening January 5th, as rumored, or even in January at all? I hope so but I feel like we should get some news soon if that is happening.

Her singles have been so weak since the AIEW cd. I've never been sold on the idea of Kelly and Krustin together, to be honest. I didn't really enjoy the singles from Stronger, they all felt dated and very non threatening.
Here's hoping she's evolved, sound-wise, and that she takes a risk for once. I really miss exciting stuff from her.

One of my favorites from Kelly Clarkson period since 2004 (that i heard personally). Everything I love about Pink is in that song and I love that attitude from her. It's a good look.

Seems a bit random for the single to be dropping 5th Jan? Don't believe it!

Honestly, my favourite single from her is MLWSWY. Wasn't really into her before that, but it's just so good.
MKIA is really poor. Don't understand why it was the lead? Or even a single...

CMB is my favourite Kelly single with MLWSWY as a close second. I agree about MKIA being kind of uneventful at the time but I like it a lot nonetheless.

MLWSWY is just huge. It felt like an event when it came out - and it was! That huge leap to #1, the final choruses, the ad-libs. Kelly was back!
I could see them going a similar route - in which case I'd literally die.

YASSSSSSSS! Kelly is going to slay your faves! (yes, even mine but IDC) Kelly is another one of my faves! I have nothing BUT confidence in her since I absolutely loved her "Stronger" album. It's pretty hard to pick a favorite from it.

Hopefully this will be another top 10 for her. She hasn't had one since Stronger. If it does that'll prove that American Idol isn't done on CHR.

I could see them going a similar route - in which case I'd literally die. I don't see Kelly ever working with Max Martin/Dr Luke again unfortunately. It's a shame, they've created her best singles. I'm still crossing my fingers for them to at least reach out to Max Martin. One thing I hate about Kurstin is that his stuff sounds so unfinished and demo-like. Max never disappoints, production wise. Perhaps she should try a new producer, someone that'll give her a new sound she desperately needs. She keeps saying "all of her albums are different from each other," and while there may be truth to that, her latest Pop single could easily fit on Breakaway which was released 10 years ago. She needs a revamp.

She needs a revamp. I really like Kurstin's work with her, but I agree that from a GP standpoint, she needs a bit of a sonic/message revamp. But I'm optimistic--I think everything about her Christmas album pointed to her going in the right direction...a vastly different approach lyrically (which a Christmas album would call for, but still), fresh and excellent pop melodies, and some diversity in sound, even when working with the same producer. I think her writing a song with Max and having him produce it would be killer, but I'd be surprised if she went that direction. She won't touch Luke with a 10-foot pole, and I don't disagree with her choice there. I absolutely adore "Catch My Breath" and think it's among her strongest singles ever, but I hope for a lead single that packs more of an instant punch.

I think Max Martin has been putting out some very cool, different, original music lately. I wish she would work with him - what he's done with Taylor Swift has been amazing. I don't know how well her regular anthem sound would do on radio right now - but I would love something hard-hitting and instant like "Bang Bang" I'm not even a huge fan of the song, but it shows off Jessie J's voice, and has that huge sound that Kelly could tear up. It wouldn't be too big of a departure for her, but I think she needs to get away front he low verse, high chorus that she's been doing.
Or can we just get Let Me Down re-produced to something that would work on radio now?

Or can we just get Let Me Down re-produced to something that would work on radio now? Agreed. Kelly would sound great on a song like Bang Bang. The one thing with Kelly is that without the right NOW-sounding 'pop' song, she could easily slip into HotAC category. Obviously, she's done well there (even with weak performing Pop singles), but if she wants to stay culturally relevant, she's gotta hit it hard with an instant Pop radio smash. Oh and I'm actually looking forward to watch she produces next. I still think, like P!nk, Kelly is underrated as an artist, who has incredible talent and has been around a lot longer than so many flavors of the year. There have only been a few tracks I haven't like over her career, but that had more to do with production/lyrics than her voice.

How do we know she won't go near Luke again? Because of the Kesha scandal? Has she ever even commented on it?

So many people these days don't even know Kelly was on Idol. Seriously, she is that far removed from Idol. If Idol wants to remain relevant they need their current winners to get radio play, not winners from over 10 years ago. The kids listening to radio today didn't even watch Idol back then.

Looks like the single could be called HeartBeat Song. She gave a hint on Twitter which makes this song make sense (Dr. Dre + Proof of Life) and it has been registered under her name.

Heartbeat song sounds stupid. No bearing on the actual song itself but how about we just call it "Heartbeat" The full name just gives off cheese-fest even if its not.
