And here's another one! This is where the chart starts to turn the corner out of dry-out territory. @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Devil Marlena Nylund Albie ry4n Au$tin Chelsea Press 2 sadchild Sean MTSChart21 Leo ✔ BulletBillTimeMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: August 6, 2016 DROPPERS:SafetySuit - Pause (from 40) B.o.B. featuring Marko Penn - Roll Up (from 39) Tim McGraw - Humble and Kind (from 37) Alex Newell - This Ain't Over (from 32) Charles Kelley - Dancing Around It (from 31) As you can see from the 5 debuts, this week marked the beginning of the way back as far as actually reaching out for new music again. The flatline began right as April gave way to May, because at that particular time, I had way too many "new" songs waiting in the wings looking for a spot to enter onto my chart. That...disincentivized me to try to go look for anything more, to say the least. Then along came the months of June and July, which turned out to be busier months for me (especially July), and I barely had any time to go searching for music even if I wanted to. :( Oh sure, a few random songs did suddenly pop up out of the blue ("Worship", "You Don't Know Love", "Heathens"), but otherwise I just did not have the time. This month, starts the road to recovery, so to speak. :) In the meantime, let's take a look at some facts, figures, and other happenings that have taken place over the past month: "Love Will Find You" becomes Kris Allen's biggest hit here by reaching #2. Does he manage to overcome Dan + Shay while simultaneously holding back the rest of the field to reach that top spot? The 20 weeks needed by Adele to reach the top spot back on the week of July 23 can be fully attributed to the overcrowded hit field, plain and simple. Between this week and the week of June 4, the songs that have taken space in the Top 10 can be divvied up into one of three categories: - Songs that reached the Top 2: No less than six #1s, plus the songs by Kris Allen, Charles Kelley, and Tim McGraw, which all reached #2.
- Songs that fell short of the Top 2: The songs by Gwen Stefani (which was at its peak on June 4) and Nina Nesbitt (which peaked at #10). And that's it.
- Songs still rising among the Top 10: Currently, everybody from The 1975 on down, with certainly a few more potential #1s in the mix.
Suddenly it's not so surprising that everyone gets slowed down when everyone else is bound for the highest of chart heights, is it? When "Things I Didn't Say" reached the top three weeks before this, it marked Adam Lambert's third #1 here. When "Water Under the Bridge" succeeded Adam at the top, it marked Adele's fifth, and fifth out of six tries! The odd one out: "Skyfall", which reached #6. Adele moves into a tie for 4th place among acts with the most #1s on my chart. Here's how the leaderboard shakes out: - Adele is tied with Taylor Swift; "New Romantics" was Taylor's 5th, back in June.
- Tied for third place are Train and Lady Gaga, each with six.
- In second place, all to herself, is Katy Perry, with seven.
- And in first, way out in front, is Avril Lavigne with thirteen.
And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Warpaint - New Song (#40) RaeLynn - Love Triangle (#37) Roosevelt - Fever (#36) JoJo featuring Wiz Khalifa - F*ck Apologies (#35) Demi Lovato - Body Say (#34)

Dan + Shay give way, while Kris Allen also gets squeezed out, as Janet and The 1975 push forward to the Top 2. Those two battle it out the following week. Meanwhile, Justs appears to have peaked the week before at #13, as he slides three this week to #16. Not much else to note, honestly, aside from the 14-notch plunge for "Things I Didn't Say" as the week's Biggest Dropper.

Next chart. I'll get these done eventually... Also, this week sees a chart feat accomplished that has only been done once before. @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh josh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Devil Marlena Nylund Albie ry4n Au$tin Chelsea Press 2 sadchild Sean MTSChart21 Leo ✔ BulletBillTimeMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: August 20, 2016 DROPPERS:Emblem3 - End of the Summer (from 40) Nina Nesbitt - Chewing Gum (from 39) Zendaya - Neverland (from 38) Adam Lambert - Things I Didn't Say (from 33) Another very close battle for that top spot, but unlike Kris Allen, Janet Jackson bests her opponent, and seizes the chart crown. The next chart will see her having to hold off Rihanna to stay there, as Rih had no problem holding back the field. Adam Lambert sees his recent #1 "Things I Didn't Say" fall off this week, but in its place, he comes in with not one but two new songs! Leading the pack of four debuts is the fourth charting song off The Original High, and therefore the veritable follow-up to that #1, "Lucy". The second song, came literally out of nowhere, as "Broken" is a collaboration that only surfaced just recently. What I think will help both songs going up is that the two are quite different - "Broken" is an EDM number, while "Lucy" has more of a rock edge (not surprising given that it features Queen's guitarist Brian May ;) ). The last time an artist debuted twice in one week was when Jess Glynne did it back on the week of May 24, 2014 - and she did it as the featured vocalist on both songs: "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit, and "My Love" by Route 94. So, Adam becomes the first to do it where one of the songs is his own. Telltale sign of an aging chart: The fact that only a third of the chart have been charting for less than 10 weeks. Though, I should mention that a major factor behind getting to this point this week is the fact that June 18 had seven debuts, all of which remain now. Tegan & Sara inch into the Top 10 for their third such hit, and look to best the #8 showing that "Closer" had back in late 2013. Rain Man peaked the previous week, and this week slides 17-22. Handsome Ghost hasn't quite peaked yet...but may not go much higher. Hilary Scott & The Scott Family aren't faring much better. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Paper Route - Chariots (#39) Tritonal & Jenaux featuring Adam Lambert - Broken (#38) Porter Robinson & Madeon - Shelter (#37) Adam Lambert featuring Brian May - Lucy (#36)

And she pulled it off by the skin of her teeth, in a manner of speaking. It all centers on that first #1, "Pon De Replay". After looking like it would top out at #4, it shot up to #1 on the week of September 24, 2005. I turned 20 years old literally 10 days later. In 2012 (I turned 27), she scored a pair of #1s at relatively opposite ends of the year: "We Found Love" in February, and "Diamonds" in December. Now, with my 31st birthday in a little over a month from this chart, she scores her 4th #1 (and first in the chart's Top 40 era) with "Kiss it Better". For that matter, only ten other acts have even scored #1s when I've had a chart going in my teen years and in my 20s. #s 2 and 3 this week both belong to pairings of different chart distinctions. With August coming to its end, Zedd is looking to score his third #1 song - all of which will have come in September! "Clarity" reached #1 on 9/14/13, and last year "Papercut" was at the top on 9/26. For Kesha, this is already her highest-charting single to date, and it would become her first #1. Steve Grand, meanwhile, at #3, is eyeing a second #1 song for himself - his first was "Stay", which reached the top on 3/22/14. "Look Away", with Eli Lieb, has marked his first sizable hit since then, as his two other charting singles both sputtered in the 30s. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. And - next chart! As you'll see, things were still pretty normal around Labor Day weekend, but as September unfolds, that will change drastically. :) @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Devil Marlena Nylund Albie ry4n Au$tin Chelsea Press 2 sadchild Sean MTSChart21 Leo ✔ BulletBillTimeMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: September 3, 2016 DROPPER:Rain Man featuring OLY - Bring Back the Summer (from 31) The two pairings in the hunt last week take over the top this week, with Zedd & Kesha securing the summit. As I mentioned for last week, it's the first for Kesha, and the third for Zedd (and third September #1!). They will have a real fight on their hands for the next week, however, trying to keep Eli & Steve from taking over. Predicting beyond that, however...actually gets pretty tough, given the relative age of this Top 10. As you can see, no song up there has been charting for less than four months. :o That...makes for a pretty damn old Top 10. What we're going to see as September unfolds, is LOTS of peaking within the Top 10. So don't expect very many of these songs to follow the line all the way to #1. In the meantime...Garrix/Martin/Zitron have peaked after spending the past two weeks at #15, KINGDM is struggling at #16, and Handsome Ghost peaked the previous week at #24. Watch for more bullet losses to come on the next chart. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICK OF THE WEEK:Audien featuring Deb's Daughter - Crazy Love

To stay there, they'll have to hold off Smallpools, who step up to #2 and are looking for their second #1 song. Samra, meanwhile, appears to have run out of gas, as she loses her bullet and holds in place at #3. Carly and The Knocks appear to have dropped out of the race, as they lose their bullet at #6. Their Top 10 run thus far: 10-10-8-8-6-6. Great Good Fine OK might not be doing so fine - though they hold onto their bullet, they also hold in place at #10. KINGDM is indeed peaking, as he spends his third week now bulletless at #16. These, and a few other songs who are also peaking, give insight into how things will pick up dramatically next week, as the Summer drew to a close and summer hits begin to wither. Until then... Eli & Steve hold for a second week at #1, as Tegan & Sara step up to #2. Next week sees these two pairings square off. David Bowie might look like he'd wedge into the equation here, but in truth, his spectacular 9-3 jump came as the result of a LOT of luck due to no less than five songs in front of him all taking sizable falls, and a sixth holding position. And it's not like he was the only one - the next five rising songs below him all take six-notch jumps of their own, thus making for quite a dramatic Top 20. #s 32 through 24 are a wall of bullets this week, but with eleven bulletless songs above them, next week looks to be VERY exciting. Stay tuned to this space! Despite Kacey's decent jump from 20 to 16, I'm not sure how much higher she'll go, as I'm feeling ready to move on from her song. Same with Twenty One Pilots, as while they move into the Top 20 this week, there's a not really small number of songs below them that I like much better that are poised for opportunities to strike. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. There are no New Picks this week.

Now to wrap up September. This chart is dedicated to the beloved Pulsers upon whom the news broke of their passing during this week - the latter of whom had been among my chart followers, and I have a feeling he would have particularly enjoyed this week's chart, too. :'( Not to say that the rest of you won't - lots of action this week, with every song on the move...! @jakelmmrs44 Juan Carlos yuh yuh Kurt Daryl the Beryl ♛ The Manticore ☯ @drag27 Zeebz surfy Devil Marlena Nylund Albie ry4n Au$tin Chelsea Press 2 sadchild Sean MTSChart21 Leo ✔ BulletBillTimeMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: September 24, 2016 DROPPERS:Janet Jackson - The Great Forever (from 40) The 1975 - The Sound (from 38) Paper Route - Chariots (from 34) Martin Garrix featuring John Martin & Michel Zitron - Now That I've Found You (from 33) Tegan & Sara nab their first #1 song with "Boyfriend", though they may not have long to enjoy it, as there is now a line of contenders behind them. The two most likely to contend with them next week are David Bowie and Years & Years. The exodus of the old has very much taken shape, as evidenced by all the big jumps in the teens this week, and all of them from songs that haven't even been here for 10 weeks yet! This may seem painfully predictable, but both Kacey and Twenty One Pilots, who do not take jumps nearly as large, may be peaking right here. While Adam Lambert, with this week's Biggest Mover in an 11-point jump, looks poised for another future #1 song. This, predictably, should set up some action to take place next week further down. But it's not as though it's completely inactive down below, with four debuts coming in, including a second chart single for Austin Mahone, the return of Emeli Sande to the chart, and EZA tries again as well. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. There are no New Picks this week.
