Is That Girl considered a flop by country music standards? No idea what it sold. Last I read here, she had sold 182,000. Sure, those sales hardly sound impressive without context. Considering the unfortunate situation outlined within the attached article, however, those sales are absolutely impressive. Her airplay was minimal, but she made many promotional appearances and they were properly staggered and did not solely target her opening/release week. The album may not have met every sales expectation considering the previous success Sugarland experienced, but she did not "flop." Here are some interesting comparisons from within the article:

In case anyone is interested, Jennifer is doing a behind the scenes video blog every Tuesday called "Hart and Soul". Here's episode one:

I'm glad I searched because I was about to start a new thread for her and her new solo album project. She went into the studio on Monday with Dann Huff in Nashville. She stated that the single will be out this summer and hopes for it to be the song of the summer. The album should be out late fall according to various interviews at the IHeartRadio Country Festival a few weeks ago. Which FYI she co-hosted and will be airing May 27th on NBC. Photos from the instagram's of Jennifer, Gail Gellman and Jessie Jo Dillon: Day One: Day Two: One song is listed on BMI already. Curious to see what else pops up over the next few months. I'll say last time around Me Without You popped up on ASCAP around the same time she went into the studio so I wouldn't take this as the first single or anything. But the song is called Sugar. It's co-written with Brandy Clark and Jessie Jo Dillon. Jennifer stated she wrote with Brandy a good bit last summer on tour in an interview she did in the fall and they just wrote last week before she went into the studio based off of tweets between the pair. I have a hunch she wrote with Karen Fairchild as well mainly because there was a picture posted last week when the pair went out to dinner. It was just the two of them and part of me thinks they did write together prior to that. I may be wrong so don't hold me to that I just have a hunch though about that. It'd make sense since the two (as well as the rest of Little Big Town) are close friends.

Heartbroken that That Girl didn't do better. Falling just came on randomly on shuffle the other day and I was blown away. I forgot how much that song touches me. Her cover of Like A Rock was also a revelation. That album was SO solid. Oh well. I am still interested in her music.

I watched several of those clips of her Broadway experience. It was very interesting. How did the critics like her performance?

Why is she still trying to go solo? It's apparent that people still really liked Sugarland and, judging by her last album's performance, want Sugarland to stay together.

At this point, I can't see Sugarland getting back together, honestly. Both Jennifer and Kristan have solo albums/careers now, and from what I've gathered from Jennifer, she doesn't seem that interested in giving up her ambitions as a solo artist quite yet. Judging by the atrocious response to "The Incredible Machine" and the lukewarm responses to both solo records, I think Sugarland could come back if they had some great music that was more aligned with the sound/feel of their earlier albums. Add in that the landscape of radio has changed so much, and the treatment of groups and duos in Country music isn't like that of the males/bro Country material, and you've got a lot of "what if's" about the potential of Sugarland.

I still give it play when I'm in a certain mood.

Just added a new song title. Jennifer is taking part in the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction on Thursday. It's unclear if she's presenting and/or performing at the event. If she is honoring/performing I'm curious who it will be for. Those being inducted are: Toby Keith, Bobby Braddock, Willie Dixon, Robert Hunter & Jerry Garcia, Cyndi Lauper and Linda Perry. Also, Jennifer will be on Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can't Wait. A couple was surprised at a show of Jennifer's last July. The first episode of the multi-part series airs June 30th on ABC. Source

Jennifer has partnered up with American West Jewelry for the Jennifer Nettles Collection. It'll make it's debut on QVC on July 5th from 6pm to 8pm. Some of the pieces can be found here. The price range of the pieces looks to be $70 to $120.

After a few weeks out of the studio, Jennifer is back in today. She posted 2 pictures so far! Caption 1. Hey. Caption 2. Guitar references being thrown around on this tune: "nasty, spank it, forward, Keith Richards, out of control". And I am getting a special feeling. Caption 3: Afternoon session. New song. #mellowyellow These were from the last week or two from her "writing time" while between sessions. Caption 1: Don't worry about it. Just working on the molten core, that is my current process in life. It's fine. Bwahahaha. Caption 2: Dusk. Music. Sigh.

I thought her first album was great, but I didn't care for That Girl as a single. Everything else was great. My favorites are Falling (still so into it!!), Me Without You, and Like A Rock. Can't wait to hear what she cooks up for her next album.

She confirmed on twitter she will be performing some new songs tomorrow at the Wawa Welcome America concert/4th of July Show in Philly. Hopefully she'll reveal a single out of those new songs.
Also, she will be on QVC with new jewelry line the following day at 6pm. Maybe she'll mention somethings about the new music there as well between her pieces that she'll be debuting.

Sugar will be the first single. She introduced it tonight as that. No word on when it'll be out to radio or itunes though.
ETA: Not the greatest video since it's recorded off a tv via phone from someone on facebook. But I thought I'd post it.
This is a little older but it's an interview she did about her time on Broadway.

Yes, I was about to add that and another one to my post! I am loving the vibe this one has. Such a different one from last album era. Seems a little bit more fun outside the fire picture.
Pretty sure the album is called Playing with Fire. Not just because it's a song title and the picture but on one of the last pictures Jen posted tonight on instagram (the one with the picture of a screen with different shots) the photography commented " #playingwithfire" with his own hashtag he uses on his pictures. I could be wrong but it seems odd he'd hashtag that on that picture and not on the fire one he posted.

The Sugar video was shot yesterday in New York after a week give or take of rehearsals with some of the ladies from her Chicago stint. Pretty sure Carly Hughes who played Velma to Jennifer's Roxie is in the video. I tweeted Jen asking if the Chicago girls were in the video and tagged Carly into it and she favorited. I've tweeted about Carly to Jen and some others before and she never favorited them. So we'll see. --- Also I updated the song list with three new songs - Chasing Fire, I Can't Unlove You and Salvation.

Added another song to the song list plus a secondary name for one song. The songs in question are: Starting Over and Salvation/Salvation Works. It was announced Monday that Jennifer has split from her label and Sugar has been pulled from radio. She made this statement via billboard.com

Jennifer was casted as Avie Lee Parton, Dolly Parton's mother, in Coat of Many Colors movie. It's supposed to air later this year on NBC. Via THR:
