This is a commonly debated topic and I thought it would be interesting to have some opinions gathered into one discussion.
What are the biggest missed single opportunities of all-time? Any genre, any format, any year. If you think an album track should have been released, or if you think a single should have been released to a different format (such as a country single to pop radio), etc. Feel free to list as many as you'd like and explain your reasons behind your selections!

Maroon 5 - Lucky Strike. That song was a tailor made smash hit yet for some perplexing reason they decided to go with the snoozefest "Love Somebody" instead.

The Hot AC station in my area played "Lucky Strike" like it was a hit single. So did a pop station in my area. I charted it cause I thought it was official.

The Lime Tree - Trevor Hall. Quirky and catchy as hell, the lyrics are so bizarre but don't come across as gimmicky and the melody is so strong it almost sounds like a classic song. Shocked this was never featured in any viral video/show. It has so much potential.

Yes. Whenever these kinds of discussions come up, this song and Avril Lavigne's "Runaway" immediately pop into my mind.

I just listened to it and that has no potential to do anything anywhere at any point in time lol Obviously, Britney Spears - Radar.

The BIGGEST? Ok, so I'll only post the ones that were like, crimes for not being released. Migrate Side Effects Breakin' Dishes Jump What Can I Say One Way Ticket I'm willing to say that ALL of these songs could have EASILY competed in being some of the biggest hits of each artist's career. It still makes me cringe to think about how fucking dumb these labels are for not releasing these.

Carrie Underwood- "Wine After Whiskey"
*This is one of those rare songs that can please naysayers, traditionalists, and those who say Carrie's songwriting and ability to record great songs is lacking *The quality would undoubtly put this up there with great releases of any year, and I'm almost positive she would gotten some ACM/CMA love out of the deal *The first three singles off "Blown Away" were a huge step up for Carrie, and WAW probably would've continued the notion that she's progressing as an artist *The first three BA singles were squarely in the Pop/Rock spectrum; it would have been steallar to have the genre's biggest FEMALE artist releasing a gem like this, because it's purely Country *Carrie is often hailed as the modern "ambassador" for Country; it would have been incredible to see Artista support Carrie in that regard by releasing a Country gem like WAW

"Daydream," Avril Lavigne is the #1 biggest missed opportunity for a single of all time. Her career never would have plateaued like it did.

Marina and the Diamonds relegating 'Radioactive' to being a bonus track and not releasing that as the lead single from Electra Heart was just stupid.
'Piano' from Yours Truly would've been a better followup to 'The Way' imo.
Never agreed with releasing 'Break The Ice' as the third single from Blackout, even though I do enjoy it. 'Toy Soldier' or 'Radar' had more potential since it was pretty obvious that, whatever was released, Britney wasn't going to (or wasn't potentially able to) promote it.
'Supernatural', 'Warrior', or literally anything else on Warrior would've been better than 'C'mon'.

Kelly Clarkson- Gone (though my local top 40 station Kiss 108 played it a decent amount) Understatement. It hit #1 on Boston's Kiss 108's weekly countdown! They put it in power rotation! Also it charted on Billboard and was played a lot in NYC too. www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Gone-%28Kelly-Clarkson-song%29 :'( Also add Addicted from Breakaway too. That would have absolutely been a #1 pop single following Walk Away.

With that one it is hard to say considering all of the #1's she had from that era. The only missed opportunity I see with that one is a visual.

I always wanted them to release "Repeat" from David Guetta/Jessie J.
It's such an underrated tune

Madonna not releasing Into The Groove as a single in the USA back in 1985.
WBR wanted Angel to sell the Like A Virgin album.

"Slow Down Baby" would've the perfect single to follow "Candyman, " and I think it would have smashed on Pop and propelled the album to greater heights.

Lady Gaga - Monster
I think it would of been another big hit from The Fame Monster and sad to see it never saw the light of day.
Leona Lewis - Glassheart
Perhaps the biggest mishap of Leona's career to never release this. Could of became a moderate-big sized hit worldwide, including the US.
Mariah Carey - Migrate
Would of been a big hit in the US and possibly Mariah's 19th #1.
Britney Spears - Inside Out
This is amazing. Was so upset that this was never released as a single, I think it could of been huge.
Bruno Mars - Marry You
I don't even get this. It sold huge amounts in the UK/US despite not being an official single. It could of been a HUGE hit had it been sent to radio and had a video released.
Ke$ha - The Harold Song
Could of shown versatility and been a big hit.
