23-year-old singer-songwriter Fancy is who Scott Borchetta hopes will be a pop-crossover breakout this year, and with debut single "Goodbye," I feel like he just might get that wish. He's managed by Scooter Braun, as the Billboard article indicates. It's included in Republic's Jingle Blitz sampler for pop, so I suspect we'll see a radio release soon.

This reminds me of Timbaland, circa 2006. It's decent.

I kinda like this. It has a similar vibe to something, but I can't pinpoint it.

There is a German Hi NRG/Italo Dance artist popular in the 80s named Fancy too so for a second I thought this was him. ;) IDK how I will categorize the two different Fancy artists in Last.FM. This song sounds nice. I could see it being huge in the Spring. I kinda like this. It has a similar vibe to something, but I can't pinpoint it. The song reminds me of Phillip Phillip's "Home" and Train's "Angel In Blue Jeans".

The beat sounds exactly like something, but I can't figure it out. Ughhhhhhh. I think it's a song from like 2007 or somewhere around there. By a girl too, I think she's a popular artist.

I was thinking it was Nelly Furtado, but I couldn't think of the song for my life. Lol thank you! ETA: And now I am hearing Ne-Yo on vocals lmao.

Impacts February 10, according to Republic Playbook. They're going for the "who is Fancy" angle on this, so expect to know absolutely nothing else about him for a while, haha.

Yay. I'm starting to really like this. It sounds like a 2006 Timbaland production ("Say It Right" by: Nelly Furtado) with Ne-Yo on vocals.

I saw the artist's name and thought of Iggy. Then I saw the title of the song and was reminded of that One-hit Wonder from 2009 whose name escapes me at the moment.

Kicks off with three adds this week. They've left the label unlisted on AllAccess/Mediabase and listed him as "Who Is Fancy." But after a bit of internet sleuthing on mine and Adam (UTR)'s part to confirm what I'd initially figured last fall, we can answer that question: he's singer-songwriter Fancy Hagood. lol

And it has to be Hagood. There's like no traces of his music on the internet now. If you try to look up his song on the soundtrack to The Equalizer, "Turnt Up Tonight", there's absolutely no audio for it. Looks like Republic really tried on this one lol. ETA: And his Twitter was deleted. It's definitely him. How did you guys figure that out? lol

How did you guys figure that out? lol You're right that Fancy is the artist name (Scott Borchetta also referred to him as "Fancy"), but they clearly want him to be defined, at least for now, as "Who is Fancy." His new Twitter handle is Who is Fancy. His YouTube username is Who is Fancy. Republic lists him as "Who is Fancy" (though the graphic still says "Fancy") and 99-7 Now (which was one of the first to play the song - there's something between CBS Radio and Republic on this one) used the name "Who is Fancy" as well.

How did you guys figure that out? lol Last fall, Scott Borchetta mentioned him in a Billboard interview as an artist to watch, so I ended up keeping tabs on it - I then asked about it in the country forum and someone else agreed that it was probably Hagood. Even back then, all of his social media handles had been changed, and I couldn't find old audio of him to confirm it. Did a little more searching tonight and there are a couple old Instagram comments that link to private profiles, one of which has/had "I AM FANCY" as part of the about/bio section. There's also an older article on him in an e-magazine thing that lists pop/urban influences (Beyoncé, Adele, Jessie J, etc.) and at least one older live performance (as Jake Hagood) that sounds pretty close to his voice. I also just found an FB post from Big Machine that had him turning 22 in March 2013 - so he's 23 now, which matches the description on Republic Playbook's Jingle Blitz coverage. (also for clarification on the above posts, maine's tweet to him)

(also for clarification on the above posts, maine's tweet to him) Shows me! :( But I still maintain what I wrote - everything connected with promotion of the song (including the way radio is framing him) is "Who is Fancy," so I don't think Mediabase is necessarily in how it's presenting him.

Single artwork? (on Republic Playbook): Hopefully they brand him on iTunes as Fancy rather than Who Is Fancy, because people will start to know him as the latter and get confused when that is not actually his artist name...

The song isn't on iTunes yet, but when you search, Who Is Fancy is listed as an artist, so it looks as if that's what they're going with. (Blah.)

They should introduce him like that (like how he tweeted me), but not officially list him as that.

Reminds me of "Home" by Phillip Phillips if The Weeknd had recorded it. Lol

Heard this on Z100... the beginning reminds me so much of "Say It Right". Which is a good thing. Love the production throughout!

Kinda figured that would be the case considering the iTunes listing I saw last week. On another note, a couple other future track titles thanks to me accidentally coming across them on last.fm: "Good To Bad," "Gasoline," and "Summer Love, Summer Night." (All four songs - those plus "Goodbye" - were listed with the artist as Fancy, so maybe the album release will revert that or these were sent out before the name "change.")
