Yes! I'm so excited for this.
The title is interesting because Darius Rucker's current single is "Homegrown Honey", but I guess they're not worried about that.
Also with ZBB's recent experiments with other genres, the title gives the impression of a more-traditional sounding country song about home and growing up in a small town in the South, so I'm really interested to hear if this stays faithful to their country sound.

Not really a fan of them but i do remember reading that they had about 18 songs ready for the new album, one of which is called "Beautiful Drug" which they expect to be a crossover hit

I'm guessing the add date is pretty unofficial since Republic Nashville also has A Thousand Horses' "Smoke" going for adds the week of January 19.

The ad clearly wants it to be known for this to get immediate airplay. I still suspect we'll see a lot of official adds on the 20th though.

I've never been particularly keen on ZBB (like enough to buy an album or anything), but the title of this has me optimistic that this'll be a good one. I like them when they keep it good and country, because Zac does have a pretty solid voice. Most of their singles have been solid though and I enjoy listening to them on radio as a casual fan. Not here for their island tunes though or anything that's too outside the box (like "The Wind" -- that song was annoying).

ZBB and this single are not affiliated with Republic Nashville in any way. ZBB's own singles will still be worked to radio by Zac's own promo team at Southern Ground. Their partnership is with Republic New York as well as Big Machine and John Varvatos (Varvatos is more for their personal brand; Big Machine might help a little bit with radio promo but will most likely help with marketing and A&R type stuff, along with Republic; but again, the Republic Nashville team won't have anything to do with this one).

It's about damn time! Lol But seriously, it's been more than 2 years since ZBB had a new album. I'm hoping the time off leads to some fresh sounding music, but I'm not too concerned because I've never been let down by this band. Hope radio is still ready to give a warm reception to, in my opinion, the most talented act in country music.

But, in this case, immediate airplay would translate to a formal adds date of January 19th (20th in Aircheck's mistaken terms). It comes out next Monday night, so the closest official adds date would be the following Monday. Even if it actually ships via PlayMPE prior to the ESPN performance and can thus get adds on the 12th, it would still be commonplace to treat the following Monday as the impact date (as we saw with Blake Shelton's Neon Light and some of the other recent big name launches, for example). Also remember that Aircheck prints after the adds board closes for the week - so all the announcements are calibrated to the following week. Miranda Lambert's Little Red Wagon, for instance, has an ad saying "airplay immediately" - but we know its formal adds date isn't until next week (even though it has been "available" for a little while). Like that song, though, it wouldn't be unthinkable for this to split it adds over the two weeks. Not saying it won't. I just don't see an clear issue w/ claiming the impact date is the 19th.

I'm a little confused what you were going for here. The ad "did" say for immediate airplay, but I do know and surely Southern Ground/BMLG/John Varvatos know that the add date is when we will see the most adds. I myself know that the 19th/20th will be the most adds for "Homegrown". All this about Aircheck printing after the add board closes is pretty common knowledge. The ad basically is stating that it would want any station adding this song as soon as possible but it will still have an add date, along with a television debut and official ship to radio, to come a week beforehand to get radio prepared for the date. Every song has an add date, even if it's never made public (think "Roller Coaster"). To be honest, this really isn't that big a deal to worry about, Lol.This will get very good support regardless of what add say they used or when the shipped this to radio.

Does anyone want to take a guess as to where this song will debut? Will this be getting the clear channel treatment? If it get's CC, I could see this debuting around 20. ZBB are still one of the biggest names in Country music.

It's a response to the multiple posts in this thread that seem to be troubled by the disparity between "immediate airplay" and the January 19th adds date. I'm explaining why it makes sense that both can be true...

Thanks for the information, jhomes87! I hadn't realized that Zac Brown Band was still on their own for radio promo. This brings back the question of how much longer the band will stay relevant, though. "All Alright" was an under-performer on the charts due to reasons other than a weak promo team in my opinion, but I did notice that even before that single ZBB's momentum at radio seemed to be waning. "Sweet Annie" was off to a slow-leaning, steady chart run until Zac Brown attracted some media attention by insulting Luke Bryan's music and "Sweet Annie" did manage to have a 25-week run to #1, but overall I sensed the band's radio momentum with their last album wasn't nearly as strong as the A-list momentum they had before Uncaged. This may be partially because Zac Brown wanted to try some different styles such as he did with "The Wind" and I do remember reading Zac Brown voicing that he didn't care as much about radio success when recording material for his last album, so I guess we'll see how the group's radio career continues into their fourth era.

I think some are way under valuing their last album's singles. "The Wind" definitely tanked, but the other singles peaked at 1, 2, and 1 again, and "Goodbye In Her Eyes" was a pretty big hit at the time. They didn't have a hit the size of Toes, Chicken Fried, or Colder Weather on the last album, but it was still a pretty successful album cycle in my opinion.

It was a very successful album (Grammy win, 2 #1s), but the single and album sales were significantly lower than The Foundation and You Get What You Give. I personally believe the lower single sales were more about the material than loss of momentum for Zac Brown Band. For example, "Goodbye In Her Eyes" and "Sweet Annie" were the two biggest hits on Uncaged. They just don't compare in radio-friendliness to "Chicken Fried", "Toes", and "Knee Deep". I'm not saying that their fourth album will be bigger than The Foundation or You Get What You Give, but if the content is accessible for the average country radio listener, I think their sales will improve. And the title "Homegrown" gives the impression of a song leaning towards "Chicken Fried".

the title "Homegrown" gives the impression of a song leaning towards "Chicken Fried". ZBB debuted "Homegrown" at their fan club gathering last June and yes, it is definitely similar to "Chicken Fried". Other tracks on the new album should include a cover of Jason Isbell's "Dress Blues" as well as a new version of "Junkyard" from their 2004 LP "Home Grown".

If "Junkyard" is on the new album, it doesn't really surprise me. They've stated that they've wanted to somehow re-release some songs from their first two self-released albums, Far From Einstyne and Home Grown. "We've always been talking about putting out the old (pre-Atlantic Records) Zac Brown Band stuff, like 'Einstyne' and (2005's) 'Home Grown,' " Cook says. "We're still discussing what format to put it out. Do you re-release it? Do you try to go back in and make it better? Do you put out a double album? There's been all sorts of discussions about what we want to do with that stuff, and we may just even put it out there, kind of like what Beyonce did, with no promotion beforehand. But there's really no definite plans yet." - SourcePersonally, I always wanted to see them re-release "On This Train" or "Every Little Bit". I think they could both be big hits.

After finally hearing this, it sounds like a big hit. Definitely has more of a "Chicken Fried" type feel to it. I expect this to go to #1 with relative ease, as it fits perfectly with radio at the moment. Excited to hear the rest of their new album.

This is really good. Honestly, when I heard they were partnering with NCAA to play this song at tonights CFB title game, I thought this would be loud, energetic and more like "The Wind". However, this is very refreshing and down home (no pun intended). It's almost like the rootsier, countrier version of "American Kids". I am now officially excited for their album. And maybe we won't have to wait long...they are usually quick to drop an album, and not wait 5-6 months for a second single. I think "The Wind" was released last week of May 2012 and the album dropped July 10. So maybe we can see an album in March or April.

Holy crap, this is instantly catchy. The melody is a major earworm, and it has the right kind of energy that makes you want to throw this on repeat without being too much in the song itself.

Another great single from ZBB!
Nothing new here thematically (living in a small town, having everything you need), but the instrumentation and harmonies are great and the chorus is insanely catchy.
This is currently #1 country, #16 all-genre on the iTunes charts. I see this becoming bigger than any single from Uncaged and probably their biggest single since "Knee Deep".
