I just heard this tune for the first time on Go Country 105 and it blew my doors off; this is unquestionably their strongest single in quite awhile, and should have little trouble winding up as one of the year's very biggest singles thanks to what figures to be a lengthy (20+ weeks) chart run and a hefty portion of recurrent airplay. Country radio has undoubtedly been CRAVING new music from these guys, and based on those solid opening week Mediabase airplay stats, it will encounter little resistance in streaking up the charts I don't understand, you say it will be a lengthy chart run, yet also state it should have no trouble breezing up the charts.

I think Marv was saying that if this song is one of the year's biggest singles, then a #1 peak and a 20-25 week chart run (though it might not even need that long) and some hefty recurrent play would help it place pretty high on Mediabase's 2015 year-end chart. In other words, that's a lengthy-enough chart run that, coupled with a high peak and recurrent airplay, would result in a pretty strong finish on the MB year-end chart. That's how I interpreted his post, anyway.

This was the perfect choice for a first single for them, and I don't even need to hear the rest of their album to declare that. This is undoubtedly radio friendly, with a very familiar theme that radio loves to promote. It has some of the vintage ZBB sound that we've heard before in songs like "Chicken Fried", "As She's Walking Away" and "Whatever It Is" while still introducing a feeling of freshness, specifically referring to the change of pace in the last minute of the song. It's evident with the gains this song had this past week that radio is ready to play some Zac Brown Band on the radio, and they're also releasing new material coinciding with the slight shift we've been seeing recently towards more traditional country affair (and less Bro). I think this song will definitely get some good recurrent play the rest of the year, and should give them enough momentum to release a powerful slower style ballad or even a more adventurous tune for the next single.

I was trying yo say that if this wonderful tune took 13-15 weeks to reach #1 and spent a month on top as did 'Shotgun Rider' or 'The House That Built Me', that would ensure s top 5 finish on the year-end charts, which would be downright awesome!

Damn I hate to admit it but this song is really starting to grow on me... I've been singing it all day. Why do you hate to admit that? Their is so much good music out there that people just say they don't like because they think they won't or feel like they shouldn't. I love having an open mind to music (to genres I usually don't like or artists I am not a huge fan of) - it's amazing how much fantastic music you find this way that you would have missed! Glad you're enjoying this!

I see this is about to hit the top 10 already on Mediabase. Has anyone heard anything about an album release date yet?

No but I'd suspect they'll drop one around May/June with a second single on the charts by that time. That's a play superstar acts are doing lately. Gets more traction for the album and first two singles sales wise, which still matter to bands like Zac Brown Band.

According to the news story about their new album Jekyll and Hyde, "Heavy Is The Head", which features Chris Cornell, frontman for Soundgarden, makes its world premiere this Friday, March 6th on iHeartRadio's Mainstream and Active Rock station. So, it seems as though they're trying to crossover to some different formats with this album.

But Zac hinted at that when he announced the new label deal and given his friendship with Dave Grohl, it's no surprise really. They'll stay in the country format -- it's their home -- but working with Republic has its benefits that seemed to not be there with Atlantic (which is odd because their Atlantic deal with with the rock/pop/R&B label, not Nashville).

I'm so glad the new album is coming out in April. It's been way too long since they've had some new material. I know it's early to say since I haven't heard it yet, but "Dress Blues" sounds like it could be a huge hit and instant country classic. I absolutely cannot wait for their new material, although I hope they don't stray too much into a harder rock sound.

Love Dress Blues by Isbell but just can't imagine it doing well on today's Country radio. As far as this song, it's my favorite single since Colder Weather.

The production and Chris are both fantastic, but ZBB just didn't fit well at all to me.

I like the sound of "Dress Blues" and I'm glad it doesn't sound like some of their previous ballads.
I also like that some artists understand it's okay to have different sounding music and if they want to release it as a single they should do so to the appropriate genre and audience.

"Homegrown" is now #1 country and #14 all-genre on iTunes after last night's Saturday Night Live performance. It was already selling very well, but it got a nice boost.

Not that I really care, but if "Homegrown" is ever going to get to #1 on Hot Country Songs, this week will probably be its only chance. It's basically equal with "Take Your Time" in airplay, but Sam's sales and streams have given him the lead, and so he's going to hold at #1 on HCS until he peaks in airplay... unless ZBB's sales bump from SNL can push them ahead for a week. "Take Your Time" is firmly at #1 on Country Streaming Songs and "Homegrown" has only just returned to that chart, at #22 last week ("Leave The Night On" is still #2 in streaming, and a couple Sam Hunt album tracks actually even had higher streams than ZBB did last week). So it's still far from a given that ZBB could briefly overtake Sam on HCS, mostly since Sam's big lead in streams might cancel out ZBB's sales bump. "Homegrown" has certainly been selling very well--it's been far out-pacing all other country singles in sales lately, with the only exception being "Take Your Time", whose sales have been very high.

Jumps from #4 to number 1 on Mediabase Canada Country Airplay in its 7th week! {and flies past Jason Aldean @ 2 who looses its bullet} The same move is expected to happen on the Billboard BDS driven Canada Airplay Chart which is unveiled this Wednesday.

My goodness, this song's bullet is really huge:
9 5 ZAC BROWN BAND Homegrown 6666 5582 1084 52.1
Not that I'm complaining though, because I like this song.

Originally, I thought this song would have a chance to hit the Platinum mark. I think it still has a chance, but it's almost moving up the charts too quick, and might spend less time in the top 10 as a result. I hope this pushes for 2-3 weeks when it does hit the top, which looks like it could happen as soon as 2 weeks. Brett got his #1 this week, and I expect Cole Swindell to follow the next week, as I think Brett's song will plummet, especially after the hard push they gave it this week. "Homegrown" could then probably get to #1 the week after if they really wanted, or they could play nice and let Chris Young get a week at #1. Time will tell with this one.

Reading Billboard today, I didn't grasp that "Homegrown" is actually ZBB's fastest rising song to the Billboard top five at nine weeks. The previous fastest rising climb was "As She's Walking Away" at 11 weeks.

Yeah, "Homegrown" is absolutely flying up the charts. When it's all said and done, I can see it being remembered as one of their biggest hits. I'm glad to see it after some lukewarm reception to a couple of their recent singles ("All Alright" and "The Wind").

This has grown on me a ton. It's just so....happy. Kind of like "Lay Low", my favorite song on the charts. Just a nice relaxing song with a great melody/lyrics.

Yeah, the Uncaged era, while still pretty successful, felt like a step back from the level that they were at on their first two eras, so the fanfare for this single seems like a return to form of sorts.

Has there been any news about a music video? It just seems weird because this is gonna be #1 soon and they've released music videos for every one of their singles.
