Surprised by the quick turnover for a new act, also surprised that they are sticking to this CD.
The song isn't bad...it's nothing groundbreaking but I can't see it peaking much higher than 20...by early 2016 of course.

"Carolina" went for adds February 4, 2013 "Close Your Eyes" went for adds February 3, 2014 "Already Callin' You Mine" goes for adds February 2, 2015 ... I'm sensing a trend here. I'm also surprised they're going back to the Feels Like Carolina album for another single. Their chart climbs are so slow and their momentum is only going to decrease, but I guess OTOH their album has only been out just over a year now so it probably makes sense to not wanna move on just yet unless they had new stuff ready to go. This is a solid song though; I like it about as well as "Close Your Eyes." I didn't care for "Carolina" though and their debut single was just plain bad. So at least if they're gonna keep releasing singles from the project, I'm glad they've been getting better, at least for me.

I've already pointed out that this album era for Parmalee is taking foreeeeeeeveeeeer. Heck if you want to count "Musta Had A Good Time's" release in the summer of 2012 (which is on the album so you should), this album's life span is sitting at two and a half years now, and that's not even counting the end of "Already Callin' You Mine's" chart run. Anyway, two things: 1) This is the song that they have been saying would see a release for a while now. I heard them interviewed at 2013's CMA Music Fest and they said that this song would likely see a release at some point, so its no surprise it was chosen. The Highway has already been playing it and that should have been a sign it would see a terrestrial radio release. 2) I still though am a little surprised that Stoney Creek is willing to put money into another single off this album - just because how unbelievably long the chart runs for "Carolina" and "Close Your Eyes" went. I personally think a layoff for a month or two followed by a lead single would have been a better move, though I admit, I don't know how far they are in the recording process for the next album. It's still a radio-friendly release and one of the best chances at another top 20 single here, though "Another Day Gone" is the best song on the album.

A bit suprised they went with another single, but glad nonetheless, as I really enjoy this one.
Not sure how far it'll get, I'll say at least top 20 I guess.

This is pretty dang good, I actually prefer this over Close Your Eyes. Not sure what the payoff will be for them financially, but they must not have any new material recorded. I'd like to see another decent sized hit for them because I think they fill a necessary niche in country music. I just hope this peaks a lot sooner!

They posted on Facebook a few weeks back (maybe a few months back even?) that they were in the studio again working on new music. Obviously there's no way to know how far along they are in the recording process, though. Literally the first song by these guys I've enjoyed immediately. I think their album is really strong :) For selfish reasons, I'm really glad that they decided to release this as a single. It's probably my favorite song left on the album, tied with "Day Drinkin'" (which is a different and--in my opinion--better song than LBT's "Day Drinking"). They had some really strong choices left for singles--"Move", "Dance", "Think You Oughta Know That", "Back In The Day", "My Montgomery", "Another Day Gone", or even "Day Drinkin'"--virtually any of these songs would have been a good choice and would have sounded great on the radio. However, I must say that I am somewhat surprised by this decision as well. I always thought there was a chance at one more single, but the album hasn't sold much at all (only about 70,000 copies), so it doesn't seem like a very good investment by Stoney Creek to pour more money into radio promo for this album. "Carolina" went Gold (I think it's close to Platinum by now), but I don't know if "Close Your Eyes" will quite make it to Gold status. Both songs were certainly big hits but a lead single will probably be their next (and best) chance at getting back into the top 10. Still, I'd love for this to be a big hit but I can also see it flaming out or stalling out a la Darius Rucker's "Miss You", Gary Allan's "It Ain't The Whiskey", David Nail's "The Sound Of A Million Dreams", Josh Turner's "Find Me A Baby", Scotty McCreery's "Water Tower Town", Jerrod Niemann's "Buzz Back Girl", Casey James' "The Good Life", Sara Evans' "Put My Heart Down", etc. These songs were all the last releases from their respective albums and by the time each song was released, none of the artists really had any momentum anymore. I'll definitely be rooting for this one, though!

The only reason I could think of as to why they're releasing another single is that perhaps if they managed yet another top 10 hit from this album (making 3 in total), that would really establish their namesake (Even more so than 2 hits) and enhance the NEXT album's sales (particularly with a higher debut week due to high demand). Maybe they figured they'll just throw this song out there, and if it does well for them it's great, and if it starts to flounder early on, they could pull the single, wait a month, then release a new debut single. Is there any chance we could interview Stoney Creek about this? lol Though we are at the same time seeing Stoney Creek go 4 singles deep with Randy, and his next album won't be out until roughly 2.5 years after How Country Feels came out.

Stoney Creek is the label that decided to throw another single for Thompson Square's album Just Feels Good out there with "Testing The Water" and to say it bombed would be an understatement. Then they decided to make believe that never happened and threw "I Can't Outrun You" to radio and that went nowhere - even though their album has sold under 40,000 copies. And of course you already brought up the fact they've went 4 deep with Randy (though that has worked out very well). I guess if you look at this label's recent track record, another single from Feels Like Carolina shouldn't be surprising to us even though I along with others predicted them to stop after the marathon runs of "Carolina" and "Close Your Eyes".

I like this one, just not as much as "Another Day Gone" which I felt was radio friendly enough but had more substance than most anything on radio today. Still, a slower song, at this point in the album cycle would go up the charts slower than the others (if that's somehow possible).

Oh my goodness gracious, my bad. They sold that their first week out, lol. What in the world was I doing? The total by now is much higher than that but still not at the level to justify four singles, so my point of Stoney Creek not shying away from third and fourth singles stand. I've been shoveling snow tonight so perhaps my brain energy is running on empty like my arms.

Lol, quite alright. I saw that and I was like "there's no way they haven't sold more than that..." In regards to the singles: I guess they probably should've just moved on after "Testing the Water" did nothing, but I suppose trying another single after that didn't really hurt anything. I'm patiently awaiting their return though for album #3 because they're among my favorite country acts.

I'll be a broke record here and say that i fear the chart success of this song. That being said, i'm happy they went with another song from the album. I wasn't a fan of these guys until i saw them last March, i judged them (unfairly) based on "Musta Had A Good Time". After i saw them i bought their album and was quite impressed. They put on a very energetic show (and this was an acoustic show). I hope for at least a top 20 peak for them. As to what Markus said in the "country stars who weren't always country" thread, i don't think they are pushing their rock sound half as much as people like Sam Hunt are pushing their pop sound.

With their slow chart runs and given the length of time their album's been out, I also thought they would move on to new material. Nevertheless, I'm (selfishly) happy this is getting released. Here's to hoping this one has a quicker run up the charts and lands the guys another top ten hit.

So far, I don't get much feel for Parmalee as an actual band. There are almost no harmonies on the singles I've heard, nor any really distinctive instrumentation. I also think that Matt Thomas has an extremely plain voice. On the other hand, they make up for a lot of that with strong song choices, but I'd still like to hear more interplay to make it clearer that Matt Thomas isn't just a solo act.

The format of Little Big Town is a rarity. True, but I still at least get a sense of unity among them in terms of harmony and distinct instrumentation. For instance, Zac Brown Band has a unique sound, and it's clear that all the members are doing SOMEthing. Even Alabama still had three-part harmony and a distinct sound when Teddy and Jeff weren't playing something on that song and someone else was playing the bass/guitar/fiddle/etc. Eli Young Band's Mike Eli also has a generic voice in my opinion, but their songs still have a distinct feel and more prominent harmonies than anything I've heard from Parmalee so far.

Any reason "Close Your Eyes" is so high on iTunes? It's at #11 on Canadian iTunes right now.

There's no "official art" for the single but it was serviced with an image. I created a background and the text for the 'cover.'

Literally the first song by these guys I've enjoyed immediately. This was and remains my favorite song on the album and I was thrilled they are releasing it as a single. As a fan, I'm hoping this one doesn't also take a year to catch on! So far, I don't get much feel for Parmalee as an actual band. That's an interesting perspective. As a fan, who's seen them twice and read up on the history, I don't see it. So, I wonder what they're doing wrong to convey that impression! Their bassist sings harmonies on most (maybe all?) of the songs and the lead guitarist also throws in some backing vocals. I do notice that there is more soloing and improvising in live concerts than on the records, and all four are strong instrumentalists. I assumed Matt was taking the lead more because he was the best looking/unattached guy in the group.

So far I don't see anything distinct about how they play the instruments or sing, but that could just be due to their two big hits not having much room for distinctive instrumentation and/or New Voice's amateurish production not giving them much leeway.

Despite this being a pretty radio-friendly single, I'd say its release was quite a gamble. Parmalee's album is over a year old and didn't even sell that much to begin with. (I think I recall Kellie Pickler's album out-selling Feels Like Carolina the first week despite Parmalee having a #1 airplay hit and Kellie Pickler lingering in the 40's with "Little Bit Gypsy".) After a year on the charts, "Close Your Eyes" still hasn't even sold 300,000 copies so I don't see this single doing much in terms of album or individual sales. I do think The Highway's support of this song may help it along on the charts just a bit and may have influenced Stoney Creek's decision to release a fourth single, but I can definitely see this getting lost in the shuffle and peaking outside the top 30. How many acts can manage three year-long climbs up the charts from a single album? I think it would have been wiser to move on to a lead single from a new album. Even if Parmalee and their label aren't ready to release a new record now, even a lead single could likely take 8-10 months to climb the chart (see "A Guy Walks into a Bar") and they'd be able to release Parmalee's sophomore album just in time for Christmas 2015, which would be two years after the first record's release, a reasonable time gap for a new artist in my opinion.
