Getting big now. If no new release rises up fast, this will probably be the Uptown Funk H100 dethroner in another 4-6 weeks. Agree (as of this second) this def. seems to be the song that will do it. Question is when. As much as I hope you're right, you think it will take that long to do it if it does? I'm thinking more like around 3-4 weeks, not 6. I'm thinking it's best chance will be after UF hits its 16th week. What's interesting is as close as its gotten it can't seem to topple UF w/ sales on iTunes. Wonder if it will pull a LMLYD (great radio gains and come very close to topping UF w/ sales but just can't topple it). Plus, UFs streams have been amazing. If its a very close week for #1, UF may still get it due to streaming advantage. I think EI is only doing so so w/ streaming. Yeah, that's just a guess range based on the way it's increasing right now and UF is decreasing. It could be as long as 6 weeks I think, but that's probably unlikely. 4 seems like a good guess. I think 3 may be a little too soon. Also keep in mind if UF hits the 16 week, I have to believe the label would do something to ensure a record breaking 17th, like an iTunes discount. So I think 17 weeks for UF is still likely.

We're not just talking longest #1 of the decade but of all time! Long as the team there knows what they're doing it's a no brainer (at the min.) they need to discount the song and maybe put out 'something' that they know will go viral enough.

Great updates, but like I said in another thread, why am I still thinking SYA is now the biggest threat to UF lol? If only SYA had EIs airplay, EI would prob. be #1 literally next week!

Amazed at these daily mega updates yet it's not really causing the song to spike in sales- if anything sales have been trending downwards a bit.

I guess it's good for RnB that this song has taken off so well but, I still don't hear the monster smash this is turning into??

This will be the first song to hit #1 on Pop, Rhythmic & Urban since "Happy"? or "Blurred Lines". I remember "Fancy" came close last summer but only hit #2 on Urban. It would be cool if someone had a list of all the multi format hits that topped all 3 formats.

It would be cool if someone had a list of all the multi format hits that topped all 3 formats. Fancy got #1 on Mediabase urban, but not the official R&B/hip hop airplay chart (but that one includes urban AC airplay). So yeah, I think the last to top all three would've been Happy. As for a list of them all, I don't know, but if you're going to make one yourself I can save you some time by telling you not to bother looking at any songs that were hits in 2011 or 2012! Has anybody noticed Often has (re-?)entered the top 100 on pop? I don't think he should re-release it though, the song did decently the first time around and while musically it has pop potential, I think the lyrics would hurt it. That could be said of many of his songs though!

Had no idea this was slaying the pop charts. At #2 and could score a week at #1. I'm not a fan of this really, but I'm glad The Weeknd is scoring a pop hit.

Been a listener of CHR since 1994... To my knowledge this is the first time a song from the same soundtrack has replaced a song at #1 from the same soundtrack since July of 1998. That year, Alanis Morrissette spent 2 weeks at the top with "Uninvited" which was unseated by the Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" which then lead the chart for 4 weeks. Both these songs were from the "City of Angels" soundtrack. I'm sure there have been other examples of this in the past (maybe someone has posted this info already...if so I apologize). Lol, this may be only a chart quirk or fact that interests me...but to my knowledge though, this the 2nd time the "modern" airplay chart era this has occurred (since October 1992 I believe?).

Thanks for this! I was just about to ask this question! No problem! Not sure why, but random chart facts like this interest me. Interestingly enough, four songs from soundtracks reached #1 on CHR in 1998. Looks as if we will soon have three by Memorial Day in 2015 (Ellie Goulding, The Weeknd, & Wiz Khalifa). As far as I know would be the most in a year since 1998...which was definitely (IMO) the year of the soundtrack (look at all the soundtracks that hit #1 on the Billboard 200 that year) . 1998: Celine Dion - "My Heart Will Go On" (9 weeks @ #1) (from "Titanic") Alanis Morrissette - 'Uninvited" (2 weeks @ #1) (from "City of Angels") Goo Goo Dolls - "Iris" (4 weeks @ #1) (from "City of Angels") Aerosmith - "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" (8 weeks @ #1) (from "Armageddon")

Don't thnk anyone would expect LMLYD to get urban spins But this hasn't outperformed LMLYD on pop. That reached #1 as well, and had about 1500 more spins at its peak. That also spent three weeks at the top, and this might not even get two.

Rebounds a spot to return to #3 on the Hot 100 this week. Here's what the article says:
"The Weeknd's "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" returns to its No. 3 peak on the Hot 100 (4-3) and spends a third week atop Radio Songs (159 million, up 2 percent). The steamy song holds at No. 5 on Streaming Songs (10 million, up 10 percent) and reverses course, 10-7, on Digital Songs (95,000, up 14 percent). It tops the Hot R&B Songs chart for a seventh week. As previously reported, "Earned It" takes over at No. 1 on the Pop Songs airplay chart."
