I hope this is good, but man, I really wanted him to release "Lipstick" from the Spotify record. That song is damn good.

The order that I like his singles happens to be completely opposite of how they've done on the charts. For Kip's sake, I hope I hate the studio version of this song. ha

I hope country radio doesn't scr*w him again like they did with his past two singles.

I hope country radio doesn't scr*w him again like they did with his past two singles. I don't think the screwed him. His last two singles weren't that great. Nothing even close to what his first album had (including some of the songs they never released). I have high hopes for this. His first album is still played all the time on my iPod.

I thought "Young Love" was an incredibly weak single that was far worse than 90% of his debut album. I actually think that did far better than it should have. As for "Dirt Road", I think that was a bit better but still nothing too special to rejuvenate his momentum after YL squandered it. I don't remember if DR went top 40 or not, but regardless, neither of his last two singles were anywhere near the level of quality that his 3 big hits were. I still think Kip can make a comeback (he certainly has quite the fanbase), but "I'm to Blame" better be quite a bit better than his previous 2 singles.

@windmillsmusic
"At 2:16 long, Kip Moore's new single "I'm To Blame" is definitely not going to be considered to long for radio. Thinks he has a hit this time."

ListenI like this a lot better than his last two singles on first listen, though I'm not sure I totally love it just yet. A stronger chorus melody would do wonders for this, as it is the chorus and verses run together and are hard to separate. Still, there's definitely hit potential here, and it's certainly distinctively Kip. There's a sense of Cheif era Eric Church here, but it's also a lot closer to Up All Night Kip than his last two singles, even if this has less contemporary sheen.

Oh, I like this a LOT. If radio doesn't take to this...I just don't see how in the world they WOULDN'T take to this!

Is there anywhere else to hear the full version of this? My Mac always hates the site posted above.

Surely this song isn't just 2:10 long, is it?

I like this one. I hear a little rock in it, a la Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi. Not sure what that means for its radio prospects (if anything) but I hope it fares better than his last two.
I've found that typically Kip Moore tends to blend together his verses and choruses pretty seamlessly.

Not bad, but not the best single he's ever had. Hopefully this grows on me over time.

As is often the case with Kip's music, I'm having a hard time shaking the idea that I've heard this melody somewhere before. But I like "I'm to Blame" quite a bit, and I think it does a more credible job of capturing Kip Moore as he wishes to present himself (flawed, ragged around the edges, defiant) than all of his singles to date. "Dirt Road" came closest, and though I liked that one, "I'm to Blame" feels more focused and purposeful to me -- it's more of an introduction to a character and personality, and I'm kind of charmed by this guy admitting the self-defeating nature of his "living too hard" approach. "I'm to Blame" is catchy, too, and an excellent showcase of Kip's voice.
A question, though, for those who have heard the song. In the chorus, does he really sing, "I come from a long line of bloodline that ain't going to change"? This is bugging me, because as I'm hearing it, that particular lyric is redundant ("bloodline" already means "line of descent," so there's no need to say "long line of bloodline").

After listening to this, it still comes nowhere close to being as good as most of his debut album, but I think it's got a much better chance of success for Kip based on song quality alone.

I feel like he gets worse with every single. Just blah to me.

I heard this on the radio for the first time today. I've always been a "moderate" fan of Kip, if that makes sense. I didn't buy his debut album, but I have enjoyed each of his singles. I was a little skeptical when I read that this song had just brushed over the two minute mark by some fifteenish seconds, but this is good. I like it a lot more than I thought it would.

Hey y'all, I'm brand new here -- yes, I posted in the Intros haha!! I've heard so many good things about this site, but I gotta admit that one of the main reasons I'm here is because of this thread. I'm a diehard Kip fan and I love tracking my favorite's singles, hearing what gurus and other fans have to say, etc. So I know this is gonna be a good place for me!
Hopefully I can answer some general questions anyone might have about Kip...been following him for 3 years now and am of course, very eager to help promote and support him in any way that I can!
I've heard nearly the entire album already; this isn't the first song choice I would have chosen but I still think he's getting back on the right track with it. Young Love and Dirt Road are more "underground" hits, while I think this one has much more radio appeal. I really hope he makes a huge come back with this, because he really deserves it. The new album is gonna be phenomenal.

This is bugging me, because as I'm hearing it, that particular lyric is redundant ("bloodline" already means "line of descent," so there's no need to say "long line of bloodline"). On first listen that lyric bothered me as well, but I'm not sure if that's actually what he's singing. After repeated listens, it almost sounds like it could be "I come from a long line, a bloodline that ain't gonna change" which wouldn't bother me at all. I can't tell for sure, though. If it is indeed "long line of bloodline", well, that just doesn't make any sense, lol. Other than that I really enjoy what I'm hearing--it's definitely grown on me with further listens. I don't think it's as good as half of his debut album (which was pretty much flawless), but I do still like it quite a bit. The banjo and the drum claps make for a really engaging melody. If/when the album comes out, I'll be curious to see what the lyrics are in the liner notes.

I enjoy Kip's debut album today as much as I did when it first came out. It's really one of my all-time favorite albums. There were so many other songs that he could have released from it as singles as well. To this day I still don't get why he didn't... I get that the label wanted to send out new material if it was ready but 'Up All Night' really had much more potential than that...sigh.

This sounds pretty good, kind of evokes the "outlaw" feel a bit. But the 2:17 duration of this song is just way too short for me, I find it rather bothersome. Would it have been too hard to extend this to the 3:00 mark? I can't think of any hits lately that were shorter than 2:45. Kind of will be a buzzkill when he plays this live, it will go by so quick.
