^^ Thanks - would (obviously) not have guessed that they'd be personal friends based on public image, styles of music. I guess that is why Keith continued the conversation if Eric's first response was to tell him "f u" When Eric first came on the scene, he was compared to Keith a lot. Eric also joined Keith at one of his concerts to sing REU. They have a lot of respect for one another. Also when Eric replied F U, he said he was upset he didn't write the song and he showed up pretty quick at the studio to record it.

Yeah, Eric's expletive was just him joking around. He liked the song so much that he was mad he didn't think to write it first.
Anyway, a big 36 adds for REU today, a week before the adds date. This looks like it's going to be a really big hit for Keith and Eric.

Hey y'all..I'm new here and yes, I posted in the Intros, haha! Keith is my all time favorite artist and I'm slightly addicted to tracking his singles. I've been doing it for years now! I'm no expert by any means but I love hearing what gurus and other fans have to say about all this stuff!!
I'm SO excited that Keith decided to release this as the last single off of Fuse. It's such a great song and I think it's gonna be a big hit for both Keith and Eric. Can't wait to see how it does on the charts! I will add, this song is fantastic at Keith's live shows, for anyone whose gotten the privilege of seeing one!

Perfect single choice. I love it more and more with each listen. Eric and Keith sound fantastic together. It's easily my second favorite single from Fuse. It's nice seeing this having a solid start.
As for artists I like everything from? Carrie Underwood. :)

This song is on fire. Greatest Gainer last week on Billboard with over 4.5 million gained and a 3-spot jump up to #17. I think it could finish this week at #13 by passing Jake Owen, and also gaining positions from Luke, FGL, and Chase who will all go recurrent (there's a chance Luke hangs in the top 10 for one more week but I think he'll join FGL and Chase on their trip to recurrent-land). Keith and Eric were in Nashville yesterday to film the music video! www.cmt.com/news/1750694/see-photos-keith-urban-and-eric-church-raise-em-up-video-shoot/

Keith's CRS panel Keith Urban: Being Present is tomorrow at 3. Tonight he's playing a showcase at the Ryman at midnight.
It looks like he played a new song sometime earlier today already for a bunch of guests. Not sure what it is called, but I've never heard it before:

I believe I read elsewhere it's titled John 3:16.

I see the sales are a bit low on this one. It's likely due to the sales needing time to catch up to the airplay and the fact that this is a 5th single, but I definitely thought this would be a big seller.

I noticed the sales were low too, and thought it might be due to the reason you just described, but Eric is debunking that theory with "Like A Wrecking Ball" storming up the charts. It could just be very possible that this is a middle of the road song as far as listener response, similar to the recent "Til It's Gone".

This is a low seller for sure, but it's still selling considerably better than Kenny Chesney's "Til It's Gone" was and much like Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban lacks a history of strong digital sales. He's only got one Platinum single in his discography ("We Were Us"). Artists like Keith, Kenny, and Brad Paisley are established from a different era where digital sales weren't as important, so I think radio programmers know that there are other indicators that these older artists still have strong fan bases even if their single sales on iTunes don't always measure up to the more modern artists. Keith did have a surge of momentum with digital sales for singles on his past album and I think if "Cop Car" had gone to #1 it might be at the Platinum threshold by now, but I'm not surprised to see his fifth single have lower sales. I still expect this to be a #1 single, probably right after "Say You Do" and "A Guy Walks into a Bar."

I still expect this to be a #1 single, probably right after "Say You Do" and "A Guy Walks into a Bar." One correction here: "Cop Car" was certified Platinum a few months ago already. It's not listed on Wikipedia but I can dig up a source for it here in a bit. As for the sales of "Raise 'Em Up", almost 500,000 people already own the song since they got it when they bought the album (and this track alone had several thousand in sales when it first hit iTunes as well). It's true that Eric's own 5th single "Like A Wrecking Ball" is selling very well, but that's likely because the song is so different and is therefore reaching a new audience - people that don't already own The Outsiders album and are thinking "wow, this is a pretty cool song". REU, on the other hand, is more of a conventional single release, one that probably isn't reaching beyond Keith's core fan-base. And again, that core fan-base already owns the song from when they bought the album. This is a solid song no doubt and I'm sure the sales will tick up some more when the video is released (which should be any day now), but I think it does show that the artists from the 90's and early 00's don't sell as much as "modern" artists the deeper they get into their album cycles. And I think it also goes to show that some riskier single choices (such as "Girl Crush" or "Like A Wrecking Ball") and tracks that aren't as "radio-friendly" can sell very well, even if they don't meet the 'easy listening' requirements from radio in order for stations to bump them up in rotation as fast as they would for songs like "Talladega", "Lonely Tonight", "I See You", etc. Sales and airplay aren't linear, nor should we expect them to be, because radio has a lot of different metrics that they take into consideration. I'm not sure how "Somewhere In My Car" stands in digital sales, but I think it was somewhere between 300,000 and 400,000 when it peaked at radio, so that one might eventually trickle past the Gold mark as well. I have my doubts that "Raise 'Em Up" will go Gold but I do think it'll be an easy #1 hit on the airplay charts. It's been absolutely on fire the last few weeks, gaining 600-800k almost every single day, with some gains even above 1 million per day. "Raise 'Em Up" is already ahead of Tyler Farr and only pulling farther away, so I don't think Keith has to worry about him. This one is also rapidly closing in on Dierks Bentley. My guess is that REU will follow Lee Brice/Sam Hunt/Zac Brown Band at #1, and then possibly Dierks Bentley, Tyler Farr, or Kenny Chesney following after REU.

There was a lot of early hype around this single obviously since it's a musical event with two of the bigger stars in the format, but in the long-run I don't expect this will be remembered as one of Keith Urban's bigger hits or get much recurrent airplay (sort of like "Highway Don't Care" and "We Were Us," which I really don't hear much anymore). I also think Tyler Farr's "A Guy Walks into a Bar" could quite easily push back ahead since Tyler Farr's song has had stronger digital sales all along and Farr's album is dropping at the end of next month.
There's also the fact that Capitol is about to have three songs in the top 10 to deal with, so I expect they will focus on pushing "Homegrown Honey" for a few more weeks, then "Say You Do," and by then I think Farr can go up ahead of this. This kind of reminds me of the way "I Hold On" was able to push back ahead of "Doin' What She Likes" since Warner Music Group was more concerned with pushing "Helluva Life" to #1 and let Blake Shelton's song linger in the top 10.
