Eh, this is alright, but it'd be a helluva lot better if it wasn't so over-produced. Maybe it'll grow on me though.
I've literally never heard of her before now either, and apparently she's just been signed, so her debut single already coming out in a few weeks is a mighty fast turnaround for a new artist.

She opened for Dan + Shay on their headlining tour last year, so she's probably been a part of Sony for awhile now.
I think the song is pretty good. I think it'll be a grower for me. However, it really bothers me that she's only going by her first name for some reason, haha.

Definitely agree about this being over-produced. The vocals were a shock to my speakers when I clicked play. It was a catchy vibe and her voice seems to fit right in with what radio takes to these days. I keep thinking about Cam Newton when I see her name.

Is she gonna be insta-dropped like Ben Rue was?

Is she gonna be insta-dropped like Ben Rue was? At least she was designated to a specific label (Arista), unlike Ben who was just listed under "Sony Music Nashville" (then Arista eventually). I would think she would be currently on her radio tour right now since the single ships in three weeks, though that's too short a window for a full blown radio tour - which leads to believe that they will continue a tour while this song is at radio (radio tours are a absolute must for any new artist). Also, it just says the ship date is February 3rd. The actual add date might not be til February 9th, 16th or the 23rd.

Is it me or does she kinda look a teensy bit like Kimberly Schlapman(of Little Big Town) in that picture above?

That sounded pretty impressive. Sure it was a bit overproduced, but the vocals were sharp and it had a nice melody. I hope to see this one do well.

Is she gonna be insta-dropped like Ben Rue was? I really hope not. Sony made a mistake dropping Ben (unless he was only signed for one single) and will make a HUGE mistake if they drop Cam. I took a listen to "Down This Road" as well as her introductory video which included "My Mistake." All i have to say is WOW, such a great voice and talent in the making. Ben Rue had a one song contract. I doubt Cam has a contract like he did. Like sabre14 said, she's been assigned a label unlike Ben. I'm not sure why Ben only got a one-song deal, but thats what my friend at Sony told me the deal was. Also welcome to Pulse Michael Smooth!

Yeah, this is good :) Mickey is better, but I wouldn't mind another woman getting a debut hit. This seems radio friendly enough to get there.

I don't know, I didn't find it to be over-produced like some of you are saying. To each their own I guess ;) I loved what I heard so one more female to root for, damn

This IS a bit overproduced in places, but overall this is a pretty solid tune.

A Cover of a pop/rock band's non-single they released hoping to cash in on the wedding season. If it had been a huge hit, it would've gotten him a full contract.

I'm so excited for Cam to be getting a real shot at country radio! I found her song "Down this Road" randomly on youtube last year, and was blown away by her voice (so unique, and so pretty). I wish that one was being pushed instead because it its not as overproduced as "My Mistake" (and I think it suits her voice a little better), but she's a cool act and I root for the females. Her website (camcountry.com) used to have a couple of songs available to listen to, but it looks like they've taken them down now. "Burning House" and "Country Ain't Never Been Pretty" were some of the standouts, maybe youtube has live versions.
I do agree that it's a little crazy to be going by just "Cam" but her name is Camaron Ochs, which is not a common way to spell her first name and that last name isn't easy to remember, so maybe thats the reasoning behind it. Also, I just found this out by looking her name up on spotify, looks like she released a pop album in 2010 so they could be trying to distance her from that old image/sound as well (like what was done with Margaret Durante being rechristened Maggie Rose).

She's OK. Great hook in this song. Really great.
However, I can't help but think it could have been written better by a Nashville tunesmith. Production sounds like pop producers trying to be what they think country is. They should have just produced how they do. It still would have been countrier than Sam Hunt's "Monetvallo"

Love the acapella intro, like something plucked from the 80's. And man do I love her voice, like a better, much more distinctive version of Hillary Lindsey. But the production is just so...off. It's not just that it's overproduced, it's just plain poorly produced. The production doesn't match the melody (which is really strong) at all. The top layer is so noisy and modern, while elsewhere the song seems intent on being throwback. Still, it's 2015 so I doubt that will hold the song back too much, and I can really see this being big. That voice is just so, so good. I just hope radio doesn't turn it into an either or situation with her and Mickey.

Love the acapella intro, like something plucked from the 80's. Acapella intros need to make a comeback. :) "Sun comes up, sun goes down. This whole world keeps spinning around..."
"All things considered I'm doin' just fine..."
"Gonna hold who needs holdin'. Mend what needs mendin'..."
"All the gold in California..."
"Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on..."
"I'm in a hurry to get things done, oh I rush and rush until life's no fun..."

"I'm in a hurry to get things done, oh I rush and rush until life's no fun..."I agree. But that was a time those artists you mentioned had real talent to pull it off. I think the last all acapella song to make the top 40 was Southern Pacific's take of I Go To Pieces (#31 in 1990).

Kanenrá:ke, you might wanna shrink the cover art in the opening post. It's a bit too big, lol.
